HELP! I JUST SUFFERED AN UNFORTUNATE ACCIDENT, WHAT DO I DO?!While your student is on the Amityville Academy campus, death cannot happen. No matter what, a teacher or horde of gnomes always seem to show up at the right time to haul a potential carcass up and over to the nurse's office for treatment. If you wish to learn more about injuries and treatments, please visit the
Nurse's Office.
Now. What if you're
off-campus and something unfortunate happens? Well, with luck you'll have a friend or kind stranger nearby to haul you to the nearest Fear Healer. If not, then your body will be sent either to your friends/family, or left in the public crypts over night. There, one of several things happen:
1) Fear Regeneration: Your Fear will slowly begin to regenerate and repair itself. This process usually takes a very long time to complete. With luck, nobody will disturb you while your Fear attempts to knit you back together in the former shape you were. Fear Healers can tap into your Fear and manage it, shortening the time spent healing by powering your natural Fear with their own. If an inexperienced Fear Healer attempts to give assistance, however...
2) Something Goes Horribly Wrong: Namely, your Fear DOES manage to reboot itself. However, despite the fact that it's made your body functional again, it forgot to make sure
everything worked. Your heart stopped, your blood no longer pumps, your skin is pale white and ice cold, yaddayadda. Congratulations! You're now Undead, and there isn't a known way to reverse this. Good job.
It IS possible for experienced Fear Healers to turn you Undead -- a good reason as any to remain on their good side, too. There are even some spells that can move your body from Halloweentown into human world and make you rise up again, granted it's someone elses' Fear that's reanimating your undead-self presently. Once their spell wears off, however, your Fear will return enough to command your own body -- provided that they remembered to banish you back to Halloweentown first, that is. Otherwise being stuck in the human world is rather difficult given how quickly your Fear runs out. Nevertheless, there are times when the Fear doesn't work at all and
3) You Are Seriously Dead: Depending on what your last wishes were (if any), usually your body is shipped back home or to your closest friend/relative who decides what to do with your body. Donate parts to those who need a new arm, leg, or spleen? Pass it off to a local chef to prepare a meal in your memory? Whatever the case, don't despair just yet, because sometimes
4) Something Goes Horribly Wrong Postmortem: Well, you THOUGHT you'd ge to rest in peace, but
no. Something managed to grasp your lingering Fear and solidify it into a transparent ghostly mass, effectively bringing you back from the dead. Call yourself a spirit or ghost now -- there's no way to get your old body back now, not after seeing the joy Pete had with a new arm and after tasting that rather delicious mystery meat sandwich you had.
Nevertheless, death CAN happen in Halloweentown -- just don't be shocked when it happens to you.

OOC: This part of the guide is still heavily under construction. If you are interested in your character becoming an Undead or Ghost, please keep in mind that that is
not an option at this time and has been mentioned here only to serve as an example as how a ghost/undead character came about. If you're really, really, REALLY interested however, please feel free to approach the staff with a Damn Good Reason.
Concerning joining the ranks of the Undead and Ghost:Having your character switch races is VERY rare! Just wanting to switch or kill your character off will NOT result in becoming either one of these -- instead, you'll just wind up with a dead character. You need to REALLY IMPRESS THE STAFF in order to be allowed to do this.
For all intents and purposes, the only characters who may "switch" are those who enroll into Amityville Academy as an Undead or Ghost, and even then the "switch" is entirely back story. Even then, the upon dying the body goes through enough physical trauma that they still lose their memory.
ALL UNDEAD/GHOSTS do not have memory of their former lives. They may still have intense emotions left over, however they have no idea as to why. It's up to their former friends/family to help them out, and even then it all depends on whether or not said friends/family want them back too.
