The sun was just starting to set over the distant waterline, casting a reddish orange glow over the ever lapping waves surrounding Sidekick Academy. You were off minding your own business, doing whatever you normally do during your spare time in the evenings; be that studying, grabbing a bite to eat, hanging out with some friends or running around campus. However, your leisure time was abruptly interrupted as the Academy's warning sirens began blaring to a near deafening level! You had never actually heard the security system go off, although you were well versed in what to do in case of an emergency. While most students immediately retreated to their dorm rooms or began to file into the auditorium like you were always instructed to in case of this sort of situation, you and a few other like-minded individuals headed off in the exact opposite direction. After all, what were heroes, (or heroes in training...) for? Determined to find out what was going on for yourselves without waiting around with everyone else like sheep, you unite and your small group stops momentarily to consider the best course of action. Where do you and your companions decide to head off to next?
1) Everything looks completely chaotic- it doesn't seem likely to you that anyone knows what's going on. You figure it would be a waste of time to depend on anything other than your own pair of eyes, opting to search around campus for the source of the disturbance yourself. If you could find somewhere high and get to a better vantage point, maybe you could scope out whatever was going on.
2) It made the most sense to head on over to Sidekick Academy's headquarters and try to see if there was any official explanation there. After all, if anyone knew what was going on, it would be the Founders and the full fledged heroes, right? If you worked quickly, perhaps you could arrive there before any other students, getting a one up on them and potentially impressing your mentors...!
3) You spot one of the Academy's teachers, Doppelgang, speaking to a group of students in a frenzy. Waving his arms around wildly as he spoke, it seemed like the kids surrounding him were focused intensely on his words. You suggest heading over to see if the shape shifter had any useful information, seeing as he's the only adult anyone can seem to find at the moment.
Feel free to rp your characters meeting and grouping up however you see fit, but don't forget to make your decision before the next bit is posted! The next set of options will be posted on the 14th, roughly around this time. Have your votes in by then~ Remember to make your character's choice clear and in bold, using the number listed above somewhere in your post! If you do not, your vote won't be counted.

"What is that?" Sirens blared and rang clear throughout the building. She'd never heard this before. It was new. Alarming as it was it failed take the whole or even much of Deroy's attention. It just rang all the same.
A chocolate bar been thrown out of the stock room door just a little while before the whole siren fiasco. It had slid short distance down the hall, and came at rest behind a bench. Deroy was hell bent on retrieving it. This was a precaution the stock room attendants took, performing it whenever she was near. It was in their best interested to keep the ten foot glutton away from the food supplies, among other things. But Deroy viewed it differently, every time she hung around that door, she'd get a tasty treat. Probably out of courtesy, she thought. So she made it her daily routine to casually loiter past. When Deroy successfully to claimed her prize, by pushing the bench out of her way, she lumbered off joining other kids who where headed towards wherever.
Chocolate bars came with their own sets of challenges. For Deroy it was the wrapper, although there have been times when she consumed the sweet brown cocoa stuff along with the printed paper. It tasted best without it, and her large non-opposable claws made peeling it off a challenge.
She whispered over a neighbouring persons shoulder, "Psst, hey can you help me get this paper stuff off?" gingerly showing off her prize. Holding onto small things was also a challenge. But the neighbour chugged right along, leaving Deroy to puff up angrily in their wake. "Rude."
She ceased her walking to look for someone who might be probably more likely to help. Looking back at a a small wave of on comers she picked out a familiar face. "Anna! Oh hey! Anna! Help! I need help!" She bounded up to the girl, letting her length encircle her/ Deroy was now blocking a part of the hall so that Anna, and a few other people couldn't simply ignore her. Eagerly, the worm held out a chocolate bar to the girl, looking rather expectantly. It wasn't the first time that this had happened. The sirens blared on in the background still.

It had been a perfect evening for reading - the light of the fading sun provided just the right level for a bit of study of the Lexicanum Daemonium a small primer on the lesser known daemons that wandered the immaterial. Not only that, but reading outside meant he didn't have to deal with these things called "lights" and their "switches" and all the other strange - albeit useful, but strange - things that were seemingly scattered on whim about the school. It set him on edge, the hum of strange things in the middle of the night. He could swear he could hear this magical thing they called electricity thrumming through the air. It couldn't be healthy... He forced himself to suppress a shudder...Only to throw his hands over his ears, tome tumbling to the ground as he howled in pain from the sudden screech of some otherworldly dying thing!
His eyes watered and his head throbbed suddenly as the world exploded into chaos, people rushing away to their dorm rooms, or to the auditorium. So these were the "alarms" they had spoken of before? Whatever they were, he wished they would cease - they caused him much discomfort. This was worse even then hearing the language of some of the infernal races - at least with those if you didn't listen to hard they didn't make your ears bleed, but this! This! This was like nothing he'd ever heard and he was almost ready to call forth his hounds to deal with them when he finally got used to the blaring noise.
Shaking his head, he gathered himself off the ground, dusted himself off, picked up his tome and slipped it into his cauldron. Thankfully it fit, with room to spare, and he was off, moving away from the other fleeing students toward what had to be the source of this ruckus.
He noticed a few others in the crowd following him and he smirked idly. Good, he wasn't the only one who found this completely odd. However, he wasn't sure what he was going to end up with. He waved to those who seemed to be going in the same direction as he, and threw his voice over the noise of the klaxons. "OVER HERE!"
Moving over to a bit of wall, he crouched down, setting his cauldron down at his feet, and checked to ensure his athame was still tucked into his boot. Assured it was where it belonged, he stood up again, and waited for the others to join him. Time to assess the situation and go on from there.
Though, to be honest, he disliked the thought of seeking out teachers or these heroes he'd heard about, so in his mind the best option was for the rag-tag group to find their own answers. There must have been some sort of high-ground from which they could scout and gather some information.
Amanda felt the alarm as a call to heroism! Woohoo! She grabbed her hat and broom and ran out, running into... Deroy. "Oh, uh, sorry..." she had seen the worm out in the halls before, and it was honestly not the strangest thing that she had ever seen. "You... you need help?" she stared at the chocolate bar, then tore off some of the wrapper. "Here!" she smiled. "So! Whats going on?" She asked, gripping her broomstick excitedly... oh! Oh no! Wasn't she supposed to wear her mask? Oh well! "Lets go see whats happening!" she said excitedly, bouncing slightly. An alarm! A real adventure! "Oh! Hi!" she had forgotten to greet the boy with the cauldron! It was such a nice cauldron!

It was like a 2x4 to the side of his head. Blinking a bit, and a sharp intake of breath as he fell the waves of magic rolling off the one female. She had some sort of magical item on her - or several, he was still unskilled in the sense to tell. Pinching the bridge of his nose he willed the sudden headache to go away. She must be a magic user of some kind, and to that he was grateful.
Perhaps the waves of magic were rolling off the Daemon with her. It was hard to tell, but his best guess was they centered on the girl and not the... thing... next to her.
He tried not to stare at the... worm? Wyrm? It was hard to tell. It had human like features so obviously it was some hideous monster of some sort.
But... no - no magic from it. So it must be... natural?
Warslik barely suppressed a shudder at the thing before shaking his head. Perhaps it was... normal. Who was he to know? Besides, it was not the WORST thing he'd ever seen. Some of the Daemons in the Lexicanum Daemonium made this beast look like a unicorn. Warslik did favor unicorns, even if they did not favor him - such noble creatures... horses - with horns. Such a novel concept!
Shaking his head again and mentally berating himself for going on a tangent he turned his attention to the... Witch? Sorceress? He wasn't sure what sort of magic user she was, but magic she was - and magic he understood. Though, if he had to hazard a guess, by both her attire and her choice of accoutrements, Witch - but he was not one to quickly guess. Till he saw her cast or charm, he would reserve his thoughts till then.
"Well met," Warslik drawled, his accent that strange lilting cant of something approaching 'modern' English, but still somewhat caught in the middle of the dark ages. "To both of you," he bowed his head to both Amanda and Deroy. Well, closer to a bow actually - his upper body did tilt forward a few degrees.
He had seen girls - but had never... interacted with them more than purchasing wares and even then, conversation was not really... had. The girls in the village the lay in the shadow of the manse distrusted the Withersons as a rule. They accepted their currency just fine - but that was all. Words were rarely exchanged beyond business. But, his father had said to treat the girls as he would treat his brothers and uncles, so he intended to do just so.
"I am unsure what is going on - though these damnable ringing bells do bite my ears. To the Seven Hells and the Lower Halls of Darkest Kadath with them." He waved in the general direction of the resounding klaxons. "Though I intend to find out, and avoid our proctors and their aides as well, lest they send us skittering back to our rooms." He looked about to see if there were others who would join them on their quest.
"Though, I think our best chance to witness anything is up - above the walls of this fair campus. Any volunteers to climb up and sight what can be seen?"
Amanda blushed. Wow! This boy was so... polite! It was nice, actually. "They are really loud..." Amanda frowned, "Well, the walls might work..." she had to shout a bit to be heard... she could use an amplification spell, but that spell had been adapted for use in caverns... and the sky was very big... "Well... I'm not entirely used to how things go up... well here, but If we need to get high up, maybe a tower?" She pointed to one of the towers on the campus, "I'd offer to use my broom, but it's been a bit... uhmm... Ornery. Lately. Besides, there might be something like a telescope or a spyglass up there" She'd really mostly grabbed it so that she could channel magic through it and hit things. She felt... a whiff... of something... from the boy. something familiar and yet not. Was it magic? Was this young man magical? That would be great! She hadn't made too many friends just yet, and it would be nice to have someone to talk to about, well, magic. She'd blocked off her magical sense because her conflicting magics made it hurt all the time... but she had definitely sensed something!
"Oh, Yeah! I'm Amanda Nightshade... you?" This was addressed to both Deroy and Warsilk, since she figured she should at least know their names if they were going on an adventure together! Oh boy oh boy! She was excited to do her part in this academy and try out a few new tricks she had figured out... but also a little nervous. What was causing the alarms? They did hurt...

((I'm kind of overexcited to be playing with her... In the process of reworking her, though, so I'm sorry if things aren't so concrete in my posts XP Nice to see another magic user))

Warslik nodded at her name, he was not used to having to shout to converse, and he wasn't really the kind to do so, but he raised his voice as required - even if it caused it to strain a bit. "I am Warslik, Warslik Witherson, Eighth Son of Mathias II Witherson, who is the Sixth, Seventh Son of the Witherson line."
He was curious if the beast had a name, and by her last name the girl was either an apothecary or a herbologist - rarely had he seen such a name in any other field. That or she came from a line of poorly named folk - which could be the case.
Who knew? She might - but he was not inclined to ask.
Admittedly, his own caution warranted knowing as much about them as he could gather - whilst giving as little about himself as he could. His back, already against a wall, was covered at least - though he hoped the girl was not a spell flinger - he'd hate to have to attempt to find a place to hide whilst she torn the grounds apart before he could call his hounds to subdue her... or the beast beside her.
Still, the beast he distrusted most - it was not magical - therefore it was more suspect than if it was. Did it even speak? He thought he'd had seen and heard it do so - but he wasn't entirely sure...
"If your broom is ornery, best not mount it lest it buck you off," Warslik had been thrown from a horse before - he did not want to imagine being tossed from a broom. "Perhaps though, one of our number might be better suited to such a task."
His eyes naturally fell toward the large many legged worm. Perhaps...
Deroy tilted her in a friendly way, and a smile spread wide over her wormy features. She didn't know this girl that was talking to her now, and it didn't sound like the girl knew who she was either. She crawled to one side to let some of the other people she had blocked through. The girl was talking miles per second it seemed. Deroy did her best to squint and analyze her. She held a broom. "Weird." how did she mistake her for Anna? "Hmm. Oh well" thought Deroy, shrugging as she did. The girl was swift in helping her get the wrapper off and that was what really mattered even over the sirens, probably.
The worm waited for the girls words to register, but they flew past her. A red haired boy with a small pot joined them. He bowed when he greeted them, which Deroy thought was strange. She'd never been bowed to before. It felt like they were nobles or some very important people, politicians perhaps! The boys words although they were spun out not as fast, flew past Deroy much the same. Some of things he said, she wasn't even sure were words. She opened her giant mouth, not to say anything witty or to extend a greeting, but to put much deserved brown cocoa snack in. She didn't see any reason to have to save it for later, plus it wasn't as if she had pockets on her, or pants for matter. Rather than letting it melt in her mouth, she chewed it thoughtfully.
They were talking about heights now. Oh how she knew a thing or two about heights. Albeit a mouthful of brown helped discourage her from talking. It would've been rude. She swallowed the sweet mass while the two were exchanged names. Warslik's eyes then fell on her, but Deroy failed to discern anything from the gesture. "Deroy! My name is Deroy." She introduced rather loudly while smiling proudly, thinkign that would be the best time to interject. "Hi, and thanks for the wrapper thing, Amanda! You're a life saver!" she beamed at the chance of getting chummy with more people and she took advantage of the opportunity to repeat their names. "Warslik, do I have chocolate on my face?" she said, referring to how he looked at her. "Also, I think we should head outside for this. The view will be better from there." she said, sounding like she's had experience with this kind of sight seeing. "Ceilings only get in the way."

... It talked.
It... Actually... Talked!
Warslik was unsure exactly how to feel about that. Obviously it was no Daemon - no magic came from it, no whiff of Brimstone or other such things emanated from the "beast" or rather, he should call... it... by name.
Deroy.
An odd name, but then, an odd creature.
Forcing a smile, Warslik bowed his head. "A pleasure to make your acquaintance Deroy... No, you do not have... chocolate.." the word slipped strangely from his tongue, like he'd never used it before. "... on your face. But yes, I was hoping you would volunteer to be our eyes for us. You seem to be the best equipped among our motley band to do so."
After much scurrying around, you and your small band of gifted youths manage to sneak and climb your way up to get a better view of Sidekick Academy's island. You were high enough to see beyond the reaches of the school grounds, past the sprawling booby trapped path leading up to the school and the jungle forests that ran parallel alongside it. To the west you could even clearly make out one of the two smaller, nameless islands that dotted the Academy's shore. As your eyes focused on the inhibited piece of land, your jaw dropped; there were two vaguely disk shaped aircrafts hovering just above the treetops, and a third was already settled on the beach. They were roughly blimp sized, a light metallic grey and rather alien looking... Confounded and buzzing with excitement from your discovery, you and your team once more have a choice to make and much to discuss.
1) Clearly, those ships over there aren't friendlies. Why else would the Academy be using it's emergency sirens? It was time to buckle down, 'cause things were about to get real. It seemed obvious enough to you that this was some sort of invasion, and so you should prepare for such. You were heroes in training after all and you weren't about to forget that; it was time to prove yourself! You express your desire to tackle the situation head on by finding one of the intruders yourselves. Whether it's a fight they want or just to talk, you'll be prepared and ready for action!
2) Well, you don't know for sure one way or another what was going on. Maybe whoever was on those UFOs meant no harm? While the sirens blaring in your ear seem to suggest otherwise, you think it's best to investigate further- from a safe distance, of course. The jungle made great cover, maybe you and your companions could sneak closer (hopefully without being spotted yourselves!) for a better look.
3) This is all too much... You want to help, but the looming UFOs in the west have you shaken up for one reason or another. There was no way you were going towards them! People like the Founders dealt with stuff like that, not lil' ol' you. So you suggest hanging back by the outskirts of the Academy to keep watch, ensuring that the school grounds and students inside were kept guarded.
Don't forget to make your decision before the next bit is posted! The next set of options will be posted on the 17th, roughly around this time. "Well, it's a new charm... I think I didn't apply the right amount of oil." Or her magic problems were messing it up again... "Hi Deroy! You're welcome. Okay! Lets go!"
----
"Wow..." whispered Amanda, leaning against the railing of {wherever they climbed to}. She had read stories about aliens here and there, and had seen about 10 minutes of a bootlegged alien invasion film while passing by a house when she was on the surface for a ritual.. But she had never actually seen a UFO before! That was what it was, right? Not some beastie from beyond? Hey. Maybe it was both! You never knew! "Thats amazing!" This was so exciting! "Wanna take a closer look?" she said, turning to her companions with a big grin on her face. So Exciting!!!
(Amanda is going for option 2... it sounds awesome)
If Warslik was thankful for one thing, it was that the climb was mercifully short. He was by no means athletic, but to make the climb to the higher vantage point - after Deroy and Amanda, because who knew if they would pull him down to his death? - wasn't as bad as it could have been, he was sure.
The sight that greeted him was one for which he was not wholly prepared.
"Oh by the Seven Hells, and all the Old Ones too..." Warslik croaked. "What are those... things?"
Truth be told, he agreed with Amanda. A closer look was warranted - if only to determine what hells theses things came from.
((Warslik votes Option Two!))

Well! That was a new curse. "I... don't know what they are? But I've seen movies" 10 minutes of one "and I think they might be spaceships? From space?" Outer space, as something real and not something she found in pilfered fiction, was new to her. Looking up into a starry sky still filled her with trills of fear that she would fall up into that infinite expanse. But they looked like spaceships she had seen on cheesy book covers and comics and those 10 minutes of movie. Wind, from the coast or from the impending spaceships whipped at her hat, and she held it on with definite annoyance. Wind. Wind, she could do without. She did like how the jungle moved with it, though. "ooo! Maybe they're invading!" she said suddenly, eyes wide, "Like in the movies" again, 10 minutes of one viewed through someone's window in the middle of the night, "There's three of them..." she noted to herself. Three was a magic number, the minimum for any good ritual. What if they were magic aliens? Did aliens even do magic? Was that even possible? This was all very confusing and exciting!
Her large mouth hung slightly ajar as she stood afixed to the wall wide eyed in awe. Through her mind the saucers beautiful beacons of things to come. Through her eyes they looked like they glowed. She definitely never one of those before, let alone three, at the same time! In a way, fear was surpassed by excitement. Deroy was feeling giddy inside. On the outside however shone a expression of curiousity. That no, those were what the sirens had to have been about. New things lead the new things, it all equated in her head. She mentally kicked herself for not responding to the noise sooner, not wanting to miss out on something as astronomical as this, these Spaceships from Space.
She clambered down from her perch, situated just a little ways higher up from the others. "Well, what are we waiting for!? Let's get closer!"and then meet and greet them... In her head she was already picturing it; they'd wave, shake hands and invite their newly acquainted Space guests inside. Oh, and they'd make a day of it! It would be grand.
Deroy was grinning non-exterior ear to non-exterior ear to herself. Clearly pleased with whatever scenario she had summed up from the depths of the unlikely. She'd already helped herself over the rails and was set to steadily make her way to the ground when another topic piqued her interests, and question arose. "What's a movie? I've never seen one, but I've heard people see them a lot." she asked in all honesty. "Do they fly and come from 'Space' too?" Her eyes looked to be glazed over with over eagerness from her inquisition.
[[Deroy chooses Option Two! We seem to be pretty unanimous here. Also Deroy offers rides down if anyone'll take them XD]]
