{ Grocery Store }
Stores were the first place to be targeted by looters during the panic. Most of the shelves have been picked clean, but there's always the chance to find something left behind by others. The aisles and shelves provide adequate cover from the occasional zombie. Very rarely will a horde breach the doors and get inside the store, unless something alerts the zombies outside to your presence inside. This grocery store also has a small pharmacy.

Malachi Reynolds ☠ Status: Alive ☠ ☠ OOC: ☠ Everything has gone to hell... ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Malachi delicately picked through the door, being careful of the jagged -and bloody- edges of the glass. The last thing he needed was to get cut and infected. Is that...? No. He winced slightly at the sight of the obviously dead cashier, and threw an empty can at her to be sure. The body did not move. Slightly reassured, Malachi began picking through the disgusting mess, while keeping a careful ear out for any unusual noises. It's so quiet... He managed to find a single can of Vienna Sausages, and sighed. This was not going as well as he had hoped. There was nearly nothing here. "Nothing ventured, nothing gained, I guess," his own alto toned voice bouncing back at him made him remember where he was. He opened the can warily, flinching at the slight noise the lid made as it was removed. Malachi poured the weird juice out, and hungrily devoured the snack sized sausages, before moving on to the next isle in hope of finding some more food. The man was literally starving, and hadn't eaten in days.

Stepping gingerly through the sea of garbage and body parts that lined the sidewalks, Talla made her way towards the grocery store. Holding her stomach as she walked silently, the hunger within so fierce it threatened to give away her position as her insides moaned, Talla turned the corner and darted down a long alley. She passed a man dressed in a filthy business suit - dead, sitting on the ground, and leaning against the opposite building. She paid him no mind, as she swiftly approached the back door to the store and attempted to open it. Of course, the doors where sealed with a lock and chain around the handles. Talla sighed heavily, but took only a moment to do something she knew she shouldn't. She grabbed a brick, and hit the chain hard. The sound of clashing metal echoed through the alley, startling birds on the rooftops who hadn't heard so much as a groan in weeks. A few more strikes, and Talla managed to break the chain. The corpse in the alley behind the grocery store turned its head towards the noise, but by that time the door had closed shut behind her and Talla was inside. It was dark. And silent, except for the rhythm of her own heartbeat in her ears.Talla held her breath, not a muscle twitched as her eyes adjusted to the darkness. She was in, what she could only assume, was a receiving area in the back of the store. Her immediate surrounding appeared to be safe - no movement, no sound - so she proceeded towards the front of the store where the food would be. She passed aisles of shelves, glancing down each one briefly for anything left behind, but all appeared to be stripped clean. She withheld a sigh, as she walked through another set of doors which lead her into the main part of the store. All appeared calm, though Talla kept up her guard as she began strolling the aisles, looking for anything to ease her stomach.

Gear
Gear stopped. He heard a loud bang--like something smashing metal. As far as he knew, zombies didn't carry around chains. Something was up... He followed the noise slowly, holding his crowbar in one hand. If it WAS a survivor, why were they suicidal enough to try and make the entire neighborhood notice them? Mr. Rogers isn't exactly friendly anymore. Sighing, he slipped through the alleyways towards the grocery store, occasionally stopping to bash in an individual corpse with the crowbar. Finally he came to see the bashed in chain below the door. "great..." Seeing the business... would it be right to call it a man, anymore? Business Zombie staring at the door in a bit of confusion, he snuck behind it and quickly beaned it over the head, not once, but three times. Better safe than sorry. Finally, he slowly opened the doors and slipped in, cautious about what he might find.

Malachi Reynolds ☠ Status: Alive ☠ ☠ OOC: ☠ Everything has gone to hell... ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Malachi snapped upright, hearing the banging at the back. He began moving through the store, his ears straining to hear any noise at all. "hello," the man whispered, but not too softly. Malachi was being careful, he had heard about how people were. He began walking, "Is anyone alive there?" He let out a girlish (but quiet) shriek when a zombie cashier lumbered up, and he beat the thing to death with his pistol, before squeamishly stepping away.

Talla heard the back door open and shut behind her. She sighed silently and unsheathed her machete - a replica, but still sharp enough to kill what needed to be killed. She ducked behind a row of shelves, peeking her head out to watch the hallway she'd emerged from. Her eyes now adjusted to the light, she spotted a man wander inside. Elsewhere in the store, she also heard a shuffling of noise. She would have been more surprised if the store actually was empty, those creatures seemed to be lurking everywhere now-a-days. She glanced over her shoulder, but saw nothing creeping up behind her, so she watched the man instead. He didn't have the shuffling gait typical of the zombies, but one could never be too certain.

Malachi walked forward, cautiously. "Um I'm not dead. Uhh... Hi." He wasn't sure what else to say, and he smiled uncertainly, and gave an awkward wave. He tucked his pistol in the waistband of his pants, and held out his hands. "See..? I'm not armed." He was hoping he wouldn't need to whip his gun back out, but one could never be too sure of anything.

Talla turned quickly at the sound of the young man's voice, her fist gripped tightly around the machete's handle. Since when was a clearly visible and easily accessible gun in one's pants considered unarmed? Still, the last thing she needed after surviving this long was to be killed by some human, so she simply nodded her head to indicate she was, indeed, alive. Talla then raised her free hand and pressed a single slender finger to her lips to silence him, then she pointed towards the backdoor of the store. "There was one of them in the alley... probably got inside after me..." she whispered, still not knowing that the person who came in after (Gear) was actually alive.

GearGear heard voices coming from ahead and caught his breath. Multiple. Any person with any sort of math skill could tell him that 2 vs 1 would lose if a fight happened. Nowadays, fighting for mere bags of crackers wasn't unheard of. He held his crowbar up and stepped slowly, carefully, having no idea if they knew he was there. With any luck, he'd find a bit of food and be out before they could see him... but then again, luck usually hated him.

Malachi Reynolds ☠ Status: Alive ☠ ☠ OOC: ☠ Everything has gone to hell... ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Malachi was silent at once, and he crept up quietly to her side, drawing his gun. He bit his lip, hoping that whatever -or whoever- it was, was friendly. He was acutely aware of the girl next to him, though he was gay. Malachi thought, She is cute though. He smirked to himself, obviously amused by his own thoughts. He snapped out of it quickly, focusing on the noises in front of him. He whispered softly, "I'm Malachi. If it is a zombie, and it bites me, kill me."

Talla withheld the urge to scoff and roll her eyes. Instead, she whispered in reply, "I'm Talla... and, I wouldn't think twice about it..." before standing up for a better view at the person or thing in the darkness of the back room. "Might as well get its attention... its bound to find us anyways... Pst! If... if you're alive over there, make it known now... we don't want any trouble, alright?" She grumbled softly under her breath at the very fact that simply existing in the same place with another living human often required argument over who was there first and compromises so no one ended up hurt. Humans these days, desperate for food and safety, would kill without question so Talla had to choose her battles carefully. In the distance, she heard the faint groan of some other walking corpse elsewhere in the store. Her voice had alerted it, although that should've been expected. This fact didn't bother her anymore. She made a mental note to find the second corpse before it found her, after this first one was dealt with.

Malachi Reynolds ☠ Status: Alive ☠ ☠ OOC: ☠ Everything has gone to hell... ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Malachi rolled his eyes. He obviously wasn't going to argue though. His ears seemed to perk up at the sound of a zombie. "I'm going find that thing, and hopefully some more Vienna Sausages." The man set off, sure the girl could handle her own. Upon finding four cans of the tiny snacks, Malachi shoved them into his huge pockets, and began to jog to where Talla was. It really hadn't taken long, but there was still the zombie... Oh wait. Hell!! Zombies!!! There were two of them, it seemed like, as they stumbled out in front of him. He fumbled with his pistol, then managed to drop it. "Crap." Malachi picked up a fairly sturdy looking two by four, and waved it at them, before smashing one of them in the head and knocking it into the other, which he viciously beat down till it was dead-dead. By the time he had gotten back to Talla, he was tired. Nonetheless, he pulled out two cans of the snack sausages and said, "Here. It's all I could find." He had no idea how long he had been gone, but the other survivor still seemed to be avoiding them. Checking his retrieved pistol, he was relieved it was still in working order.

Gear
Gear heard someone whisper... s**t. They knew he was there. No point in hiding--he'd rather take his chances at diplomacy then get pegged as a zombie. He whispered back. "I'm alive, thanks... but I'd prefer to stay here, where it's harder to see me.." Of course, this meant he couldn't see the other person either--but he had a crowbar. She could have a gun or something much more deadly. He preferred to stay out of sight--and bullet range... In the mean time, he looked for medical supplies, food, or anything else he might find that would be useful.

Malachi stared, trying to see into the dark. He failed, but then hissed, "There isn't much food. Just snack foods really," he shrugged. He was calm, though clearly cautious and on guard. Malachi glanced at Talla, trying to guess what she would do. He really had no idea.

Talla glanced over at the man once he returned, and upon spotting the cans of sausages, she withheld the urge to beat him upside the head and steal them. She was so hungry, but he could be useful to her especially if he could hold his own and wasn't afraid to go scavenging by himself. "Snack food? Hm... better than nothing." She nodded at him, then looked back towards the rear entrance to the grocery store. "Did you hear that?" She whispered to Malachi before calling out softly to the other man in the dark, "I'm not interested in killing the living... Ok? So... If you come out nice and easy, we wont have any trouble..." She tried her best to speak in a way that was neither weak, nor overly aggressive. She'd found some people easily took offense to such tones now-a-days, which could get you killed. Still, she lowered her machete to the ground, but kept a firm grip on the handle as she peeked around the corner and squinted her eyes. Slowly, they adjusted to the darkness, but he was out of sight. [ ooc: Terribly sorry for the delay, guys. I've just been so busy with holiday crap, I haven't had the chance to get online x-x]
