It was as if summer was upon them. Instead of the sunshine and rainbow appeal it usually gave the world and it's creations, it was burning them. Awan found himself rolling around in a small stream trying to cool himself off from the smothering, hot rays that had him sweating his insides out. He couldn't stand the heat, especially when his coat was normally sticky and clumped together due to the crimson liquid that always found its way in to his short fur. It was truly a sight, the clear water was now tainted a red, leaking from his body as it washed away down stream;fading out in it's intensity.
The shade hadn't helped. Being a blessing and his residence was now more suffocating than ever. He hadn't even bothered collecting any trophies for himself he had been so occupied with the weather. It was hell, reaching out to him. He just knew it. It was a sign, telling him that when he died he would be welcomed with open arms for the sins he had committed whilst in these lands. If he could of found that portal he had heard about, then he would of made his way through it willingly. So what did he say to the calling?
"Take me. I dare you." He huffed, rolling back on to his front. He was scarred from head to hoof, new ones making themselves known as blood leaked down like raindrops from his body. Open wounds caused by the rocks in the stream where he had carelessly thrashed his body against. His toxic coloured mane and tail were drowned and stuck to his body, bangs hardly allowing him vision over his surroundings. He didn't fuss over it, seeing darkness was better than seeing the plastic view life possessed.
It was all fake. The smiles, the laughter. nobody was truly that happy. All the world knew that was real was pain. He had come to learn this as many moons passed and he still remained alone, waiting till somebody could prove him otherwise. He had never smiled in a genuine fashion unless it was at somebodies suffering. He had never laughed like he was going to die, only when some fool was put in their place.
Pushing up, he gained his footing once more and made his way towards the edge of the stream, flicking his hair back with a rough toss of his head. It cracked and he let out a sound of relief, a hum of humour following. Whilst he felt remotely cool, the need to take the opportunity and make use of it surfaced. Now where were those little rodents at? A small devilish smile played on his lips as he pressed on towards the tree line, ears flickering at every scampering animal paw.
Playtime was over, not for him, for them. He was just getting started.
