Alright, everybody! I'm thinking about making changes to areas in the guild. Namely the forums, the EXP system, and another "special surprise."

What I'll be doing:

~Condense the forums to allow for more areas of play. Meaning that after Petalburg, the towns will most likely be doubled together, or at least coupled to the point that it where all the towns and routes can be incorporated.

~Remake the EXP system (because word-based is a bit much, in my opinion). This means that instead of word-based, I am proposing a post-based system. As well as dramatically decreasing and setting a cap on the required EXP needed to level.
~Add a cap to the EXP system Setting a cap for leveling to 1500-1700.

~And adding a "special surprise" that will be revealed over time. I'll be nice and give a small hint: Remember, this is a "remade (beta-testing) game" and bugs and glitches have been known to surface during gameplay. There are some things bound to be unique in the virtual world.

I understand that this will throw so much stuff awry, and will probably require a restart in the game. But please! I ask that everyone add their opinions and concerns to the changes in the guild.

And if there is to be a restart (again), I would kindly ask that everybody that wants to keep their character(s), to send me a PM. I'll save the profiles, and send them back. There is to be NO RESTARTING because of these updates.

I dun wanna restart... Nor do I want the forums condensed. =w= But a Daycare/Dream Works for Mystery Dungeon-esque play sounds cool.

Beta glitches and EXP remake would be cool! Perhaps 2 battle posts power level, so Lv5-6 would be 10 battle posts? And by battle post, I mean single battle concluding in victory.

Perhaps beta glitches could include premature legendary appearances, weather changes, modified Teams, and angry Pokes?

Understandable. I dun wanna restart either... But with the way the forums are, new ones would have to be made for the remainder of the towns and routes. And I would make the new ones condensed regardless.

What I mean by condensing forums is towns and routes would be together, ie Petalburg/Rustboro and connecting routes (much like Littleroot/Oldale). I'd join the Dewford, Slateport, and Mauville sections, thus freeing up two sections for other locations; and so on and so forth.

The modification to the EXP would be along the lines of a post-based system. A simple RP post would net 1 point, while battles would net a more sizable amount, based on the level of the opponent.

For-sure beta glitches will be the continuation of the rampant strain of Pokérus, and abnormal weather in locations. A possible glitch is free items. But I'm afraid premature legend encounters are something of wishful thinking on everybody's part... though there is one thing I will implement, but I cannot reveal anything further about it just yet.

And what/how did you mean with the "Daycare/Dream Works for Mystery Dungeon-esque" thingy?

Unless semi/drastic changes are truly necessary, I don't really see a need for them. Granted I'm not Crew, and I don't see what you guys see from the inside, but I also don't (personally) see a need for updating or changing the way things work.

Now yes, for things like a cap on the amount of EXP needed to level, yes that would make it easier, but the whole word based EXP system period works for some of us. and if people are really finding the towns and areas of Hoenn too spread out, the by all means condense it, but like Ninten says, a good portion of it is already very condensed.

Again, I don't want to sound like an idiot, and I don't hear/see what goes on in the inside like you guys in Crew do, but I wouldn't try to do an Extreme Makeover to this guild that might make it even more confusing to the people who don't get on. Half of our members haven't been on in 6 months +, and they might "Woah" if they cme back to find everything started over and changed (that said I really dont wanna start over). With people already getting confused with the Abilities and whatnot, I really wouldn't add or change too much that would make them even more confused (The reason I came to this guild was that it was dead simple and easy to follow). Beta glitches, weather changes, and whatever Ninten was getting at about so many battle posts per level might just throw people off, especially those who are new to RPing (and things like the "Mystery Dungeon-esque thingy" would only work for people who have actually played such games.

That's just my bit. Not meaning to troll or seem oblivious to everything...

I think the forums are fine as is. While it is true that the bulk of our play is in the Routes (unless there's a Gym Leader), the cities get enough normal interaction that they should stay their own thread too. I did see in an academy RP a Class/Dorms/Outside/etc format, so MAYBE the towns could be grouped in one forum and the routes in another... But that'd be more mess than it's worth... Riku, if you were to condense the forums, what would the forum "Petalburg/Rustboro" contain?

I think words is one of the cleaner ways to deal with EXP. No math beyond addition involved, although I wouldn't be averse to a reduction in the words needed to gain a level (ie FBK's system - 100 words). I saw an RP, HELiOS, that used multiplication and division and infernally small text that made the thing very confusing to figure out. And it didn't help that I'd 'done the math wrong'. Let's keep it simple.

Yay! Beta glitches! How would Pokerus work? 2 or 1.5 times the battle word count? I wonder how abnormal weather would affect the Teams? They're very climate-oriented as it is.

As for the Mystery Dungeon/Daycare/Dream World, that'd be a separate forum where we could RP as our Pokemon (for lightness and lolz). The aforementioned academy guild had a "Shed" where people could play as pets.

I truly appreciate the input from you two. Death, if you were trolling, you'd know.

I've decided not to adapt what's already working. The EXP system stays as it is, but there will be a cap put into place. I was thinking around 1500-1700, otherwise it would get too lengthy and tedious.

This is what I mean when I say "condensed:"
Petalburg/Rustboro would include: Petalburg, Petalburg Woods, Rustboro, R104, R105, R116, and Island Cave.
Dewford/Slateport/Mauville would include: Dewford, Granite Cave, Slateport, Mauville, R106, R107, R108, R109, R110, Abandoned Ship, Trick House, and New Mauville.

Beta glitches are for-sure going in, the Pokérus is going to remain with the two variants, one being beneficial to your Pokémon, and the other causing wild Pokémon to become rabid. The beneficial strain would double the amount of EXP earned in battle, but like the games, it would only last for a couple days, then disappear, never to infect the same Pokémon again.

Having a separate area to play as our Pokémon would be very cool. It'd be able to be explained to newcomers, as it's just like any other RP, save for the fact that you're playing as a Pokémon.

And lastly, we are not starting over. I'll work with what's already in place.

Yes! EXP cap! biggrin

I see what you mean--and we seem to lack everything above Lavaridge. So long as the forums we've already played in aren't changed, I think condensing it that way would make it a bit cleaner--and also a little more obvious as to what (routes) are included between the cities. Separate threads for famous locations, like Trick house/Daycare/Contest (Lilycove)/etc would be cool too. I wonder if Battle Frontier would work? ... Well, I think we're going to be too concerned with "beating the game" as it is. So Petalburg would be renamed and the appropriate extra threads added, and the others restructured as necessary?

I didn't know Pokerus was temporary! But it probably should be here. (My first Swampert had it, and I trained him myself to Lv100. biggrin )

We could probably add a description of the Pokemon-only RP to the Intro. And would we be restricted to our Trainer's characters, or could we pick? (Being able to pick stronger Pokes quickly would potentially make this a spin-off...)

If you need a bit of money for the subforums, I could pitch in some.

The first Pokémon I hand-trained to Lv100 was a Feraligatr in Gold Version. In my eyes, he was a beast.

And don't worry about where we've already posted, those will stay the same. I'll be adding in the Battle Frontier as well, but that is for late-game stuffs. And yes, the Petalburg section will be renamed appropriately, and the rest will be restructured as needed. This is what I was aiming to accomplish.

I would say that if the separate Pokémon-only RP was limited to the one's in our characters' possession, then it would allow us to interact between them. We could go into further detail about how our Pokémon converse with one another.

And you don't have to worry about the Gold for new subforums either.

Yay, more bugs to tweak. It's kinda fun to be a mover in a guild. biggrin

The Pokemon-only RP could be titled (Night) Misadventures of the Tamed. *spouting a random idea* =w=

Okay.

Reunion Springs was an idea Kimmy and I came up with. Later down the roleplay, they'd find a hot springs and enter it, and would be able to retrieve their teams from the manga. Silver was going to have his Sneasel, since that originally was his first Poke'mon, a long with his other Pokémon.

This was going to happen around the 3rd or fourth badge, after the world got more violent and distruptive.
