Melvin had left Jerry alone. After they left the portal with the muses, he left the man be. Part of it was due to him being a centipede, which he had embarrassed himself by throwing up after they escaped the island, and another was because he had not done well on the island. While Jerry found his flute, Melvin had not found anything of real interest. Instead, he decided that, with the realization that one mystical place could be found, there were others to set his sights on.
He was back in the library alone, the book of Historical Geography of Halloween and Theoretical Places in his lap and chewing some gum as he flipped through another page. He tried to be quiet as he popped the candy and checked a few things.

Life had returned to some semblance of normalcy, and Jerry had found a new routine. Their days of questing had at least gotten him back on track, and his new... responsibilities... had taken their toll on him, but tired and busy, the Hunter was still restless.
He had met his muse, and had been given a gift.
His time as a centipede creature had given him some time to think, trapped alone in a tank in his room, trusting the Lab techs would be fair with what was his.
No word back yet, even with his attempts to demand his artifact. They were still working on it, but a heavy bribe and he was given the proper paperwork promising it would be returned once the labs were done with it.
Back to work. Wake up. Shower. Force himself to eat. Drink coffee. See what the Life labs had in store for him to test. Lunchbreak. Drink more coffee. More testing. It was fun work, at least, and time flew. Evening. Practice his guitar. Force himself to eat again. Shower. Drink. Sleep. Rinse and repeat.
He soon found himself in an anxious rut after only a few days of this.
Well... he might as well go catch up on Melvin, he ha gotten swamp since their return and the man HAD left him stranded as a centipede in the labs. The young man was predictably easy to find, once again ground down to the grindstone in the library.
He slipped into a seat across from him. "Whatcha' looking up this time?" He was disappointed to see no books on instruments on the table.

Melvin jumped a bit when Jerry came, absorbed in his reading and just naturally ignoring the other readers around him. Gripping the large tomb, he glanced over to see that it was indeed Jerry and sank down just a bit. There were no books on instruments because he had given up on the island of muses. It seemed music did not favor the scientific, and after his last embarrassment, he turned his sights to other places. If one land of legend existed, then others would as well.
"Titans." He told the Sun, feeling uncomfortable as if he was admitting he was quitting on their past project.
"Sorry that I left you hanging back there before..." He couldn't be around Jerry to congratulate him or help the techs make sure they didn't poke him with testing gadgets when he was a centipede. His nerves wouldn't let him.
"Congrats, by the way. How is the flute?"

"Titans huh? Like those big creatures Hercules fought?" He rubbed his nose and pushed his glasses up his nose, "Sounds dangerous." At Melvin's sudden apology, Jerry's face reddened. "Don't worry about it, I'm used to being dropped like a bad habit ahahahahaha- or er a bug... the flute? Still in the labs. They gave me a receipt though so it better come back in one piece."

"Oh, it's not that. Just.." Jerry had been plowing through all their visits to the island, and while Jerry did get his reward, Melvin did not want to give him the impression that he was ungrateful for his work. Insulting a Sun who could protect your a** was not a move he wanted to make. He was trying to keep all the Suns on good terms with him as best he could to increase his chances of living. Jerry already proved he could do just that.
"I don't do well around bugs." He admitted, pretending to read and hoping that the heat around his ears wasn't the blood rushing there.
Quickly moving on, he returned to another, better, subject. "Yes, Titans from those legends. The island we were on was the place the Gods rested. The place I'm looking at is the place where the Titans were kept. Imprisoned. There is a way to get there just like there was at the island we visited. Seems a lot of the places in this book are found in the Weeping Woods. That place seems to be a magical magnet for portals." He informed him, holding the book tightly.

"Just wait until you face a famine creature," Jerry laughed weakly, picking up a book to thumb through hte pictures. "So another quest, then? I'm off duty today-" He should be sleeping, or at least recovering from everything but he was far too antsy. "Ready when you are." Titans, huh? Sounded dangerous.
Nothing we can't handle, Roar growled, far more interested in a harder opponent than chasing some muse.

Melvin just stared at Jerry. "R-Really?" He was confused by Jerry all around at times. He already got an artifact, could take it easy, and yet with his free time he wanted to risk his life. "Do all Suns like rushing into a fight?" He just had to ask. Sure, it benefited him to have protection, but his curious tendencies just had him asking WHY.

"I think it's ah... part of the job description, ahahaha." He cleared his throat, "Honestly, with portals mostly down it's the only way to get a change of scenery."

But what if they died there? Was a change of scenery worth the risk of death when it wasn't necessary, mandatory mission? Still, to mention this, to second doubt the Sun, was not a benefit to Melvin. If Jerry wanted to go, who was he to stop him? He had his reasons, Melvin had his.
"The titans were placed in a prison under water. There should be a portal to go there. There.." A paused. "..should be other items there if we're lucky. Then again, there could be other things to shoot at if you are willing to do that." Shadows or whatever else, there was probably security. He decided that at this point, he didn't even have to hide it from Jerry that there were powerful items now that Jerry owned one.
Rising, he held the book and looked at him. "I decided I wanted to check it out. If you want to come, well then, I'd appreciate it." Again, he needed the protection. The fire power. That edge.
Setting the book aside, he didn't have to explain where they were going. A portal hop and in the woods later, they were back. It was any guess where they ended up. "It's back to this again." He told him, and went to search. "Look for someplace wet. Like a prison of sorts." He informed him.
Melvin had no luck. He kept walking into bathrooms, bakeries, cauldron shops and bat breeders. Each place dark with surprised patrons looking at his bright hair and uniform and wondering if he was just a Reaper with bad fashion sense. He apologized when they seemed angry, but otherwise stepped back to try another portal.

This was the leg of the journey Jerry had come to hate. It was tedious, door after door of strange Halloween livingrooms, dining rooms, parlors, shops, an occasional irate elf...
At least until about the forth portal in, the Sun hunter was greeted by the smell of salt water. It was definitely... different. "Mel! Mel come take a look at this!"

Melvin turned as he followed Jerry to a portal. It was time to address something that had been nagging him for some time. "Will you STOP calling me Mel? It's Melvin. Mel-vin." Mel made him feel like a kid again and struck a sensitive chord. He followed Jerry through the portal.
