Don't get me wrong, I want to be healthy and I want to work out, but somehow I always find reasons to avoid doing both of those things! For example, "I don't have enough time to not eat McDonalds," or "I'd rather rest and read than hit the gym." It drives me nuts wanting to be slimmer, weigh less, and more muscular in the stomach/arm/leg area, but for some reason I can never convince myself that it's something that has to be a priority.

So, ladies, the question is... How do you get yourselves motivated to work out and be healthier?

Perhaps your answers can assist me in my hunt to lower the scale's numbers! <3

I'm in the process of losing weight as well. I've lost about 10lbs. so far. I'm not a gym person, so I KNEW that route just wasn't going to work for me. However I do love video games, and having fun. So...I got a Kinect for my Xbox360, and basically started exercising at home. I also get my boyfriend to do it with me, so it's even more fun. And for every 10lbs. I lose I reward myself.

I have no motivation, If I feel like I need to exercise.. I wait until either my body starts to shut down, or until a loved one tells me too.. then I try to get healthy for a day or two, then I give up again. sweatdrop

Though I suggest maybe alternatives that you find more fun to do? maybe instead of hitting the gym, you try to do dance or something else that could help weight loss and cause for a fit body. As for food, maybe motivate yourself to make at least one healthy snack or meal a day and see if that causes any changes in your diet?

I'm bad at advice sorry.

Is there anyway you can cook your own food, or go somewhere else besides McDees, that might be healthier?
As for exercising, maybe try volunteering somewhere that is physically demanding. Uhhm ... garden planting, snow shovelling, etc. I think dancing is also a really good way too! (: It sounds much more fun and appealing than hitting the gym.

What motivates me is what I see in the mirror.
I am not happy with it, so I exercise.
Plus the fact that I have myself convinced my husband thinks I'm fat helps too...
And I'm the biggest girl at work. Which sucks.
I got the Zumba for Wii and a couple other fitness games and I have fun going back and forth between them. And physically being able to see how many calories I've burned that work out helps a lot.
I'm down almost 20lbs, ringing in at 177lbs.
Good luck!

It's topics like this that make me glad I'm here >w< I don't feel alone in my struggles.

Motivations?
1. Money >.> maybe, I got this workout app, the more you workout the more points you get, you can use the points for gift cards. I have to pay for my video games somehow xD though I haven't tested if this point thing works or is a scam yet. But the app its self is still fun to have, I didn't expect it to keep me as motivated as it has c:

2. Cosplay, yes, I want to do more of that. Though I don't expect nor want to be uber skinny, I would like to be a medium to be comfortable in a cosplay.

3. Dates, no, not the kind with guys. Goal dates, for example, a group of us are going to see The Hobbit on the 13th and then my aunt invited us for dinner on the 27/12. Then my little sister has a birthday in Juanary, then there is a con in March, then my birthday in May. So in short, I want to junk out on each of these occasions so in between them I try really hard to watch what I eat and work out each day.

4. For myself. I want to be happy with what I wear and in my skin and not freak every time pictures are taken. I've tried the "be happy with how you are" and I can't, I don't like how I look so I'm going to help that.

So yeah, these are the things I think about to help keep me in the game, I hope this helps any. Also I try to keep it fun. I do Just Dance for about 30minutes and Zumba for Wii for an hour, I'm surprised at how much I enjoy it! I thought it would be a pain and too difficult to follow but it's actually fun, even when I can't follow some of the steps I'll just stand there and shake my butt xD

if you are looking to lose weight, drink more water and eat smaller portions but eat 5 times a day (remember the smaller portions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

what helps me get motivated to excercise is doing it with friends or just turning on some fun dancing music and dance away

I hope this helps

My workout plan is just part of the routine to start my day. I wake up around 3 am on Wednesdays and do my 3 mile run. Running is free and it's really hard to get distracted or sidetracked once you get moving. You don't need an instruction booklet or video to do it. It's a pretty good whole body workout, but I still supplement other exercises in to target specific body parts that sometimes need more attention.

Another bonus to running is I can indulge in eating some extra calories because my metabolism has become faster since I started and I actually need to eat more to keep my energy up though like other people have suggested, I do break my meals up into smaller portions 4-5 times a day with healthy snacks in between.

I really enjoy running. It's some personal time to just get in sync with my body and listen to music and I can feel good about doing it. Once I hit my first mile and it feels like my body is moving effortlessly, the euphoria is amazing. It definitely makes my whole day a little brighter and better.

I've always wanted to start running but I don't like people seeing me run.. >w>; Do you run on the sidewalk? Or do you have a nice more private trail?

I'm very shy about being in public, but that's the reason why I run so early in the morning. There is literally no one else around for miles. The route I run is on the shoulder of the road next to the ocean. When the moon is out, the view at some points is quite amazing.

I know how you feel. I'm always in the same predicament, as I'm pretty afraid of gaining weight if I sit around too much. And yet my lazy side always wins over. XS

To be honest, I don't have any amazing techniques when it comes to exercising. The only type of exercise I do easily and without the slightest bit of motivation (mostly) is jogging at the park, and a lot of my willingness to run comes from listening to my iPod while I'm doing it.

As for exercising at home, it's way more challenging to get myself to do it.
What does help, though, is exercising in front of the TV with a movie playing. Once I get myself going, it's not that hard to keep going. I also keep in mind how good I know I'll feel if I do it.
