Lucian slipped passed the other students with ease they didn't seem to pay him much attention. It wasn't still he turned a hall and still heard foot steps did he look behind him. At first he just glanced , but he did a double take as he realized the girl from the common room was following him.

"Are you following me?" Lucian asked with a raised brow as he still continued to walk as if he was heading some place in particular.

It was more shock he was feeling then anything. No one ever followed him when he took off like that. So why was this girl doing so? Girls were odd creatures he would probably never understand. She had to have a reason. Lucian thought she wanted something from him perhaps? The idea that she was going to fuss at him or just want to keep talking never slipped into his mind.

Click to show.Jane was rather annoyed with the german mohawk boy, mostly because they had an absolutely great verbal battle and then he hadn't even told her his name! She glared at him in annoyance, tapping her foot wondering why he was such a daft fellow. "But of course I am!" she exclaimed just short of a shriek. She took a deep breath and tried to calm herself. It wouldn't be good to get all dramatic wit this one. She remembered him saying overly dramatic girls annoyed him.

"You bloody wandered off without telling me your name! Not to mention a 'Goodbye, nice to meet you'. " She shot back. "You could try and be a bit more polite."

Lucian raised a brow and she hald shrieked at him. He honestly felt shocked enough to stop walking and turn to face her. His yellow eyes looked her over curiously as he placed his hands on his hips.

"Does it matter? People normally don't care so forgive my confusion..." Lucian replied with a snort. "Polite isn't my thing, but if you must know my name its Lucian Avery. Yes the Avery's despite my current state of clothes or what ever." Lucian spoke in an annoyed tone ,but only because he was confused by her which put him on edge. Avery was an old pure name, but it was rather scattered from Germany to even America now, but through it all every member had managed to stay pure.

Jane was embarrassed with her outburst, but tried not to show it. She couldn't show that she was sorry for the way she had acted even if it had been rather bratty. One never showed they were sorry, or so her father had always told her. Especially if they were in the wrong.

"It matters to me." Jane muttered to herself and crossed her arms across her chest. "Figures it wouldn't be." she added when he told her politeness wasn't a characteristic of his.

She was rather surprised to hear that he was from the Avery family. When she had been able to read she had been drilled to remember the pureblood family names so she could recite them from memory. Despite the Avery lineage creeping up in all kinds of places it was still quite a pure family. Jane had always wondered how they had managed that.

"Oh," She replied her eyes going slightly wide at his announcement. She could tell he was annoyed but wasn't sure by what. Then she recalled his mention of his clothing. Had he been abandoned or something? That might explain why he seemed to have such a big chip on his shoulder.

"I'm Jane Victoria Elder." She replied biting at her bottom lip. It wasn't a habit she normally did, as it only happened when she was uncomfortable with a situation. Most times she thrived in situations like these.

Jane shifted from one foot to the other and then finally tossed her hair. "Well then, where were you headed? Might I tag along? There's really nothing to do with all those fawning girls in my dorm room or even in the common room."

"Die Sterne würden nur wissen, warum......Lucian mumbled in reply to it mattering to Jane. He didn't bother to translate what he said. She would either try and figure it out again or ask him if it was important. He simply stuck his tongue out at the figures comment.

Lucian huffed a bit like most Slytherins he figured this girl would be familiar with his family name. Now rather he would get treated differently, asked a lot of questions, or made fun of him would tell him a little bit more about who he was dealing with.

He observed her closely as she introduced herself. Everyone had tells and just like tarot cards Lucian prided himself on reading them. Even if at the same instant he still hated himself for having to associate some form of reading with everything in his life.

Yellow eyes narrowed as he thought about rather he should trust this girl with his hiding spot. He had no reason to and yet for some reason felt compelled to do so. "Somewhere.....I suppose you can.....but..." Lucian looked around them to make sure no one else was in the hall. "You have to promise to keep it a secret and move quickly to get there so we aren't seen."

((The stars would only know why))

Jane had only heard a little german in her life so she didn't know exactly what he had said, though it kind of sounded like "Stars" and "Know". Her eyebrows scrunched up as she tried to figure out what he might have been trying to say. "Something along the lines of the stars knowing something?" She asked after a moment.

Jane could see that he was miffed that she knew about his family and how old it was. She figured he really didn't want to talk about it. It wasn't like she was going to treat him any differently because she knew something new about him. It took her a long time to change her mind about someone after all, that was her stubborn nature after all.

She was a bit flattered that he was observing her so closely, but couldn't help but feel weirded out by it. What was it about his gold eyes that creeped her out so much? Maybe it was just not knowing why he was paying her so much attention so soon.

Jane tapped her foot as she waited for him to answer her. She couldn't help but smirk at his paranoid behavior, though god knew that secrets never did stay secret for long. So his precaution was necessary. She knew reassuring him wouldn't put him at ease so decided to just nod.
"All right. Let's go then. " She replied.

"The stars only know why tis a saying." Lucian said in reply to her question. At least she knew more about German then most people did, he wasn't sure if that was a bad or good thing.

Lucian's eyes seemed to back off from their intense grasp as he turned to move down the hall some more. He wasn't sure if trusting this girl was his best idea, he would hate the thought of loosing his hiding place. There was always the large grounds to hide in but something about being out there in the cold wasn't always appealing.

His hands slid into his pants pockets as they walked turning down another hall. When he came to another pair of hallways he seemed to take stock to see if anyone was around before he picked up his pace drastically. There was no one about which he was thankful for. He glanced over his shoulder to see if she was keeping up before ducking down another hall. Down this hall was something Lucian could only describe as a glitch in the castle. It looked like nothing but strait wall, but Lucian had leaned on the right part of it one day and fell through. It couldn't even be called a room it was like a large walk in closet hidden in the wall that was empty.

Lucian ducked into it before grabbing Jane's arm to pull her in as well. "It ain't much, but it's quite." He said before moving in deeper to give her plenty of room. He sat down and pulled out his deck of tarots again. He wasn't going to shuffle them annoyingly again just place each one out. An obsession he had to make sure they were all still there.

"Oh, that's interesting." Jane said, she was going to have to write that one down so she'd remember it later. She was definitely going to have to brush up on her german. Otherwise she wouldn't know half of what he was talking about. She wondered if that would bug him. She couldn't help but smirk at the idea.

She was rather relieved when his eyes lessened in intensity and he begain to make his way down the hall. She followed behind him noiselessly, her shoes not making a sound. She couldn't help but frown as his squeaked as he walked. How could that not bug him?

Jane could tell when his mood changed and he became wary of those that could be around. His hiding place was definitely in this place somewhere close by. She glanced around and then frowned when she couldn't figure out where it was. She was grateful when he grabbed her arm and pulled her inside the secret walk in.

She would have walked right by it unless she knew it was there. She glanced around the empty room and rubbed her chin thoughtfully. "It's nice, but could use a few changes. Like some rugs to sit on and maybe some pillows." She decided.

She pulled her cloak off and laid it out on the floor before she joined him on on the stone floor. She didn't say anything about his tarot cards but pulled out a book from her bag and a small portable torch which she turned on and sat on one end. Then she began to read silently, and turning the pages as softly as she could.

Actually Lucian preferred German to English and had always hoped to meet more people that could speak it. It rolled from his tongue more naturally and echoed how his mind thought much better.

The squeak didn't bother him, because you got what you got in the orphanage. They didn't make the kids starve or live in bad conditions but they cut corners where they could so clothes was one of them.

"I guess...." Lucian said looking to Jane curiously about her suggestion of decorating. "But I don't really want to call attention on it by stealing things to put in here really..." Lucian said still busy with his card.

Lucian looked down at his cards for awhile he wasn't good a small talk or even sure she wanted to talk. After awhile it just felt odd for him to stay quite though. "....What are you reading?" Lucian asked finally looking up.

Jane had resolved in sending a letter later that day to ask for some books on learning german and for a tutor over the holiday to help her learn it. She figured that knowing it would definitely be a good thing in the long run. Plus she imagined there weren't too many german speaking kids in the school so this way she and Lucian could have private conversations without others knowing what they were saying.

She also had resolved getting her brother to send her some of his old clothes, as he seemed to keep everything even after he had outgrown them. She had always wondered why he had done that. She glanced over his clothes and tried not to wrinkle her nose at them. She was definitely going to have to find someone to make his clothes fit him a bit better. Hopefully there was a tailor or seamstress nearby in Hogsmeade.

"It will be more comfortable to have something to sit on," She said pointedly. "And why would we be stealing anything? I'll have my brother send some things from my rooms at home. No one would ever notice them missing, no one but I am allowed in them." She replied tossing her hair back from her face.

Jane had gotten perhaps four paragraphs into 'The Cask of Amontillado',when Lucian asked her what she was reading. "Bored of your cards already?" She queried glancing over the top of her book at him. Then she smirked slightly and replied. " 'The Cask of Amontillado' by Edgar Allen Poe. It's quite good. Do you read for pleasure?"
