Revelation 20:13-15 (NIV)
13 The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done. 14 Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. 15 Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.
Apparently, "Hell" is not permanent, but the lake of fire is.
Through the parable of the rich man and Lazarus in Lk 16, we see Hell and Paradise separated by a chasm (note: paradise is also known as "Abraham's bosom") . Collectively, this place is called "Sheol", "the Grave" or "Hades". Both the righteous and wicked are waiting in Sheol for a resurrection, afterwards they'll be judged.
The text speaks of two resurrections: some before the 1,000 year reign, some after the 1,000 year reign:
Quote:
Revelation 20:4-6 (NIV)
4 I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony about Jesus and because of the word of God. They[a] had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years. 5 (The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years.

God; I also saw those whoAlso the verses in my sig (Acts 24:15, Jn 5:28-29) speak of both the righteous and wicked experiencing a resurrection. If the wicked receive immortal bodies, then I suppose their torment is eternal and they won't be annihilated. Either way, I don't want to be them.
Those sealed by the Holy Spirit have nothing to worry about
(Eph 1:13, 4:30). The Book of Acts is worth studying because not everyone automatically received the Holy Spirit after believing or being baptized. A repentant heart is needed. In Lk 11:13, we're even told to ask for the Holy Spirit.
