Jane was a bit annoyed that she had gone in circles all day long. She had been searching out someone to help her create a network at Hogwarts, mostly so she had people who could get her certain things or do favors for her. She had asked around but it seemed no one really knew anything about who might already have that sort of network up and running.
Of course most of the other students were clueless to just how helpful that sort of thing would be throughout their career in Hogwarts. Seriously, were all these kids idiots? You'd think they'd want to go far in life. Apparently most of them didn't think any further ahead than the weekend or the next holiday.
After about three hours of asking around she had finally been given a name of someone who might be able to help her. Vonali Darix. She just happened to be a 3rd year Slytherin as well. Jane was glad that the girl was older, she'd have had a few years to establish a pretty good network, and might actually want some help maintaining it. Of course she still had to ask the other girl, she wasn't sure how to go about doing that without coming off as needy.
She made her way down the stone steps into the dungeon and then answered the prompt for the password without hesitation and entered. The room wasn't quite as empty as she had hoped the common room would be. There was Von sitting on the coach plucking away at her guitar and some carrot headed kid sitting on the couch next to her. Jane frowned, and crossed her arms over her chest. She guess she'd just have to wait for the freckle faced red head to leave before she tried to talk to her.
Thankfully Jane didn't have to wait long, and she backed out of his way as he came running past her his head bobbing up and down as he ran. She held in the snort of laughter that threatened to emerge at the sight. Finally when she was once again composed she slowly approached the older girl.
"Are you Ms. Vonali Darix?" She asked, politely, now only three feet away from the dark red haired girl.
She couldn't help but notice that her hair looked as though someone had tried to dye it all black but had failed. The poor girl definitely needed a better hairdresser that much was certain.

Vonali shook her head as the kid dashed off but went back to her playing. It didn't take long for another person to address her. She tilted her head up and looked up at the Slytherin girl. She gave the girl her customary glare and once over before nodding slowly. "I'm Von." She set the guitar down and it shrunk small enough to fit in her pocket. "How can I help you?"
Vonali could smell a business deal and so she refrained from grumbling too much about being disturbed.

Jane didn't think much of the older girl's glare one bit. It was feeble and not really that frightening. Plus the girl's heart wasn't really behind it, Jane could tell. She probably just did it to make people think she wasn't very approachable. Though Jane could see that Von actually was anticipating her answer and knew what she was there for.
"Nice to meet you, I'm Jane Elder." She replied. "You can call me Jane." She watched the guitar shrink down with an amused look on her face. A shrinking spell wasn't all that hard, she had learned how to do that before she had arrived at Hogwarts. Not that she was going to go around bragging about it.
"From what I've heard, you have a pretty extensive network, and I am looking to get in on one. I couldn't imagine going far at Hogwarts' without one. Might there be a way we could become partners?"

Von could tell this girl was sharp and immediately gave her all of her attention. She sat up setting her hands in her lap. But raised her eyebrow that the girl's blunt and slightly rude introduction and following question. "Well pleasure to meet a girl who knows what she wants, Miss Jane."
Von unfolded her arms and indicated for the girl to sit in the chair across from her. " What makes you think I could use a partner? What are you offering in exchange, to make my point clear." There was no need to feign not knowing what the girl was talking about, if she was a spy from a teacher she'd have been a bit more tactful in her questioning.

Jane had no idea she had come off as rude, she just preferred to be straight forward and to the point when it came to introductions. It was so annoying to her when people fooled around and bantered for twenty minutes before telling her their name. It frankly bored her to death. Had she know however, that Von was one of those people that liked to do that she might have played along.
"Does it bother you when people get straight to the point?" She asked curiously.
Jane was relieved when she could finally take a seat. She sat on the corner of the chair, and laid her hands in her lap. Jane was rather surprised when Von herself asked a very pointed question. She didn't even need to think it over for long before replying. "I imagine you may have somewhat limited funds, and I help in that area. In answer to your first question, there has to be things that you don't want to get your hands dirty doing or getting caught doing. I can do those. I really have no problem getting my hands dirty, and this way it will free you up to do other things."

Vonali cracked a smirk. " Actually I prefer people getting straight to the point. Makes business simpler." She crossed her ankles and leaned back in her seat as the girl presented her qualifications.
She raised an eyebrow at the girl's offer but didn't answer right away. She contemplated the offer while looking over the girl. Von didn't worry much about getting her hands dirty but it wasn't her favorite. And as her personal drama flared up having someone to help her manage her network sounded like a good idea.
"Here's what we'll do Jane. Your bluntness, and offer have caught my interest. So I want you to go out and find a guy able to not only be some muscle but brings something unique to our assets." At this point she leaned forward. " once done we'll discuss the terms of partnership."

Jane was relieved when the older girl reassured her that she preferred to get to the point. She relaxed slightly trying to gage the other's thoughts as she spoke. The raised eyebrow did indicate that her offering funds was probably not the wisest choice. She should have worded that differently.
When Von replied, Jane was relieved that her bluntness hadn't been detrimental towards her goal of working for the other girl. She was rather puzzled though when Von asked that she find someone to add as an asset to the team. That might be a hard thing to do, but Jane wasn't going to give up that easily.
She nodded and stood up from her seat. She could tell that the other was done discussing things and she wanted to get started looking for someone that might fit her criteria.
"Is there any certain criteria that you might be looking for in such an asset?" She asked as she thought over the people she already knew.
There was that ravenclaw kid Taylor who was into potions. She wasn't sure though if he'd be interested in being muscle. Then there was Lucian. He might do. He was definitely the strong type, and he was always carrying around those Tarot cards. What if he could actually predict the future? Or was good at divination? That would definitely be something that would interest Von.

Vonali stood as the other girl did and offered the girl her hand. "I'm going to keep up the bluntness. So far there's not much structure to my network. Officially it's just me, if you join up the person or persons you bring in will be the first official employees we'll have. You obviously know what I'm good at and what I can do. You also know your own strengths. Other than that it's up to you on who you bring me. Though any not common habits or hobbies have a greater chance of winning you success. Good luck Jane."
Von sat back down and went back to her guitar. She had a feeling the girl would make good choices but little did the girl know that Partnership to Von meant Assistant. Nor would Von just hand over all her contacts right away this was just one test of many for the girl. And Von smiled.

Jane was relieved that the other was being honest with her.She nodded as the other spoke. It seemed as though she had found Von at the right moment and approached her at the right time. She was excited that she would get to be a part of building up a network.
"I understand perfectly." She promised with a small smirk. "Give me a few days and I shall have a team assembled."
Then she strode from the room with a determined look on her face.
