It was another bright day in the fields Sirene called home, the bright sun obscured by clouds, and the sky as blue as she could remember. She sat in the grass, watching the various birds, butterflies, and other various wildlife continue on in their daily lives. Of course, she was a butterfly too! ....Sort of.
Closing her eyes she listened to the rustle of the grass, and the distant hoofbeats of others, perhaps not too far away...She could join them, but for now she felt the need to enjoy the sounds of nature. Perhaps she wouldn't even have to join them? Maybe someone would like to just stand back and smell the sweetgrass.

Matthius was enjoying spending the afternoon with some newfound friends, but when these friends didn't want to stop their galloping about long enough to stop and just take in the new land they'd found together, Matthius decided to abandon them, at least for the moment.
Making the excuse of needing some alone-time (despite the fact that, most times, he had entirely too much of that on his hooves), Matthius wandered away from them, his blue butterfly wings flapping gently in the breeze.
Soon, he spotted a green Soquili, a female, and she had wings like his! Matthius grinned in spite of himself; it was rare to find a flutter, at least for him, let alone a female flutter.
Matthius tossed his mane, rearranging the feathers and beads within it, as he approached the mare. He lowered his head briefly in greeting, smiling charmingly when his eyes found her.
"Good afternoon," he said, coming to a halt a reasonable distance away, but close enough so that he didn't have to shout. "Would you mind if I joined you?"((omg wow I'm so sorry this took for-freaking-ever I'm so sorry D: Thank you for being so patient! <3))

The female turned, bright blue eyes looking at him with a delicate gaze like clouds upon the grass. She was certainly not one of the bolder flutters of the lands, far more feminine and graceful. She gave a quiet smile towards him, though it was just noticeable from his distance.
"Good afternoon!" She chimed back, voice flittering on the wind. It wasn't often she met others, but today was a lovely day to do so, she thought. Sirene got to her feet, looking over the brightly colored male. He was handsome, no doubt, and it wasn't often she met another like her. They had their differences, but were still enough alike.
"Of course you may join! I hold no claim to these fields." She laughed, coming a little closer to him so that they would meet midway. The flowers in her hair had drawn a few butterflies, which followed behind her in the sun. "It's a lovely day, isn't it?" ((Aww it's fine! Don't worry too much. heart ))

Matthius smiled to himself; the mare was pretty, he could tell that much from a distance, but up close she was nothing short of beautiful. That in and of itself wasn't surprising to the princely young stallion - he saw plenty of beautiful mares, was friends with them even, but what was interesting was her tail, which he hadn't been able to see while she was laying down.
He couldn't quite remember the name of the species - his father, Hathi, wasn't too familiar with the other kids of Soqs, but he knew it started with a K, and he knew it was uncommon to meet a Soq that possessed those traits. He surveyed the female with new appreciation, and smiled once again.
"It is," he agreed, looking around as well, though his attention was brought back to the female. She seemed nice enough, not as wild as he former compatriots, so he decided he might as well stick around for a bit.
"My name is Matthius, and it's a pleasure to meet you," he introduced himself as he joined her, getting properly close to her so they could speak to one another. He had never seen hair that color, either; much softer than the pink feathers he wore in his hair, a nicer shade of the color, he thought.
Matthius was about to say more when one of her butterflies landed on his nose. He snorted in mild surprise but made his eyes cross so it could be in focus, smiling a little as he did so.
"Well, hello there," he greeted the butterfly, his own wings flapping slightly in the giddiness that crept on him whenever he 'conversed' with one of his own kind - horse or not. "Nice to meet you too,"

Sirene certainly was impressed by the colorful male. Pinks, blues, browns, and yellows! So much more bountiful than her own more simple palate. She was most interested in the beads in his mane, and the lovely pink feathers. The horn that stood proudly from his head was also quite interesting to her....
She had heard many of her species...Well...Half her species had proud horns as well! But she was not one of them. Perhaps her particular kind didn't have them? Sirene hadn't met any like her before, so she didn't know!
At the greeting of his name, her wings fluttered, and a more welcoming smile found her visage. "Matthius...A wonderful name." She laughed, still as dainty as ever. "And I would be Sirene..." The name rolled off her tongue beautifully, like a summer's day. Much like the current day, actually.
She laughed as he talked to the butterfly upon his nose, curious as to where it had come from, only to realize a fair number were following her. "Oh dear! I seem to have caused some trouble!"

"Sirene," he repeated, letting the letters roll over his tongue. "A lovely name for a lovely mare," he complimented, meaning every word. He repeated her name as an excuse to compliment her, yes, but also so he wouldn't forget it - he was bad with names sometimes, and repeating them helped.
"It's no trouble," Matthius disagreed with a soft chuckle, his beads jingling gently in his main. "They just follow beautiful things. And besides, they're probably distracted by that flower of yours, hm?" He nodded to the pattern on her hide, then smiled to show he was just teasing.
"So how has your day been thus far, mm?" he asked, leaning down to munch at some of the green grass beneath their hooves. "I hope it's been treating you well until now," he finished, looking back up at her; he was completely unaware that the butterfly that had just assaulted him had landed in his hair.

She seemed a little flattered at the way he said her name. It wasn't often she heard it said by others, especially not by men. The butterflies would occasionally call to her, though not one of her own species had yet. Such an important moment for her was given a slight flush to her cheeks as she kicked at the ground just a little, though made sure not to uproot any young grass.
"They adore my flowers." She laughed. "It's hard to get a moment alone with so many in these fields! I would have better luck in colder lands, though I much prefer it here to anywhere else. Many things are plentiful here, and it seems to be safer than other lands..." The mare trailed off, glancing into the vast blue sky.
Her day had been uneventful so far, though she paused, thinking of what to say. "It has been enjoyable, warmer and sunnier than yesterday. Though I admit uneventful until you came along. I usually don't see many out here." Sirene was cheerful to have the company, though snorted a little as she saw the butterfly take a liking to his bright beads, perhaps thinking they two were sweet flowers. "Though I do think you've made another friend besides me! Such a silly little one."
