A roaring, blazing fire instantly warms you and burns away the Insanity. The voices, the chills, the paranoia -- all gone by the light and warmth of the fire. The soothing effects are amplified by the torches errected and maintained around the perimeter of the camp, each one in a distinct style of one of the four clans. There was a fragrance that but through the suffocating fog, soothing the aches and pains that left no visible mark. Once again Medea could be seen kneeling near the large bonfire, staring into the flames. This time she said nothing, did nothing but stare endlessly into the flames.
A horseman steps in front of you and gently guides you to the other side of the bonfire. "Welcome," the greet. The greeting is neither warm nor cold: it is curt and to the point.
Are you a Horseman? If yes:
"Do not shun Halloween. We are in this together. Tolerate them." The horseman glances back to where Medea sat. "Even if they are nothing more than children. We are running low on the vials. You may approach Medea and take one. May it serve you well." The pause, taking in your condition. "Visit a priestess before you head out, Clansmen. It would do us no good for you to come back as an enemy. And if you find a member of us... bring them here. Good hunting."
Are you a Student? If yes:
"Behave yourself. You are now within Lost Clans territory. You may be our guest, but do not approach Medea. Our priestesses will tend to your wounds. Should you return as an enemy like your fellows or before, take solsitce in the fact that we will not hesitate to cut you down."
Are you an Initiate? If yes:
The horseman looks you over warily. "You may be an Initiate, but we expect you to be on your best behavior. You may approach Medea and take a vial. Watch after your kind. While they may be our guests, we expect them to be on their best behavior. Good hunting."
With that, the horseman gives you a crisp nod before rejoining their fellows guarding the perimeter.

The Head Priestess does not open her eyes as she sways, as if rhythm to the single pyre burning in the center. The flames flicker an odd yet familiar mix of oranges, blues, blacks and whites. As they hiss, you feel a little warmer, the voices dying down a bit.
Approach Medea for more information.
Medea does not look up nor open her eyes. "Forever tangled in a web they cannot fathom," she begins, rather cryptically as the flames flicker a bit, revealing flashes of an image, what look like oversized jaws, a strange sea-monster like creature reaching out from the darker colours of the flame, "It will swallow everyone completely. I fear for our kind, for all of us. We are the last of the flame that burns, the last that stand in the way of all who would be consumed."
Ask Medea about Insanity.
Medea hisses. "That word, a foul taste, heathen, unnatural and decaying. It plagues this place, worse than rot, clings to our bodies and refuses escape. Our plight has become more dire. This miasma is calling us for a reason, and we cannot ignore it. We have no choice but to face this miasma in our paths and purify it.
"Purify it?"
"You are of our clans are you not? You know of our ways." For those with a distortion fragment, the flames flicker for a second in colour with their fragments, as if syncing. "Your fragments will protect you, salvage you from corruption. Have faith that you will protect yourself and one day have the power to protect others."
"But I dont understand how."
As Medea looks at you, you realize for the first time how tired she looks. It seems as if she has not slept for days, her body skeleton-thin. She raises a hand, a single multi-coloured gem embedded in one bracelet glowing eerily. "The path shall lead the way."
She seems to have fallen asleep while still kneeling.

The faint sound of someone's voice strengthened into a endless string of questions, as a much put-upon horseman led a very small, gray ghoul into the camp.
"Anyway, I think this is all fascinating, don't you? I hope there'll be fighting. Oh, are we here? ... Where's here?"
Eye wide with curiosity, Canon peered at the shadowed figures surrounding the camp fire, Medea earning an extra second of consideration. A firm hand on her shoulder prevented the Skark from exploring too far, or bugging the kneeling figure before the fire. As she was admonished to behave herself, Canon listened brightly, smile never fading.
"Enemies? What do you mean?" she asked, hesitated, and then lowered her voice, in a rare moment of tact. "I'll gladly spar with you, but I don't intend to be your enemy. Oh! By the way, do you know what this is? I found it, along with some pumpkin pills."
Canon removed the vial from her collection, and showed it to the horseman.

There was a noticeable twitch to the horseman's eye as Canon went on and on and on. Thankfully they were rescued and shoved aside by another horseman who eagerly looked at what the Skark had in her hands. "Oh! Where did you get that?" The horseman took the vial from her and held it up to the firelight, examining it.
"Hey, if you'd like I'll trade you a pumpkin pill for it."
Canon willingly gave him the vial, and watched with interest as he held it to the firelight. She was a tad disappointed that it didn't... do anything. Except glow from the light. But he certainly seemed to like it!
"It was on the ground in the fog. I have no idea where exactly. It's difficult to see anything, but it was sort of in... that direction?" Canon replied, pointing vaguely back in the direction she though they'd come from. She'd just arrived, and already she couldn't pinpoint where they'd been. The surrounding fog was too thick.
At the horseman's offer, Canon's eye widened.
"Sure!"
She eagerly accepted the pill, and quickly stashed it away with the other pills. "Many thanks!"
Canon looked out into the fog again, then back to the firelight and the horsemen surrounding it. There was a definite sense of purpose here, but she could tell that (aside from the vial) none of them were terribly interested in her. She also didn't recognize any of them from her stay on their islands. She danced from foot to foot in indecision, and finally darted back out into the fog. The urge to explore was just too much!

Bulbous Rex had been busy since the fall of the isles. Busy gathering supplies, making sure the lair was stocked, keeping stupid young fillies and colts from trying to make off with some of the more rare supplies. Managing a few of the farms and harvesting gardens- his days were long, but the moth accompanied famine horseman showed little tiredness. Rather he seemed excited. Excited if wary. He loathed insanity, but, with the halloweeners around? It was a chance to see what havoc it might bring to them. And not to mention- it was contained... in a way.
Still, he was on edge. Offering his fellow clans men and women aid should they ask for it. Towards the halloweeners... they still seemed to need to impress him.
The zomboil drew closer to the warm light with Maggie still held in tow, relieved once he got close enough to see the source, though it was not often that an undead was happy to see so much fire in one place. But this was clearly a horsemen encampment, and being an initiative, not a place that he should fear but one which he was more then happy to find. His eye instantly sought out the head priestess, gaze landing on her form kneeling in front of the fire, looking just as worn and fragile as she had before.
A horseman was greeting him as he approached, and he nodded, understanding that even as an initiate, he had his own place within their system and was not to overstep his bounds. "Thank you." He murmured, hand squeezing that of Maggies a little tighter as he looked behind himself at her.
"We'll be okay, here, but could you just hold on for a second? I need to go and have a quick word with Medea." He gestured towards the priestess with his free hand, even as he let his other hand slip free from the cat ghouls grip, giving her a small smile before turning and making his way slowly and carefully closer towards the fire.
"Medea? I was told I should get a vial from you..." He didn't really want to disturb her, and honestly wasn't even sure if she was listening, until she held the vial out towards him and he quickly tucked it away in his shirt pocket.
"I don't suppose you could tell me what's going on, here?" He asked, voice quiet, questioning, perhaps even slightly timid. Her reply was cryptic, as usual, and he sighed, not sure if it was even worth asking her anything else. He decided it likely wasn't, and turned to shuffle back towards Maggie.
"We can stay here, if you want, but I think we should really go and try and find anybody else who might still be out there...like Chryses?"

Maggie blinked as the light got brighter, and shielded her eyes with her free hand. As her eyes adjusted, she could see they were in a Horsemen camp, and that the light was coming from a large fire, with a few torches around. She looked up as a Horseman approached, welcoming them. "Uh, thank you..." She was somewhat confused on how they had been able to make a fire in such a place.
Alex once again caught her attention as he addressed her, telling her he was going to see the Horsewoman near the fire. "Alright..." As he walked away, she continued to look around, fascinated by all the Horsemen, but was soon interrupted as Alex came shuffling back up to her. "Oh yeah, Chryses...I'd almost forgotten about him. Jack, I hope he's alright. I didn't see him nearby when I woke up."

"I'm not surprised, really. What's more surprising is that you managed to find me." He shrugged, then reached up to run fingers through his hair, glancing back towards the fog at the edge of the light from the flames. Going back out there was dangerous, and he knew it would be. Maggie was only a first year, had barely even started her studies at the Academy. If something happened to her under his watch, it would all be on him. Was he really ready to shoulder the responsibility of trying to keep her safe from harm?
"I have to get back out there, and help in any way that I can, if I can. I have..an obligation." That was the best way he could describe it, anyways. "Again, Maggie, you can come with me if you choose, but that decision is yours to make. I won't force you to come along. You would be safe, if you stayed here, I think." He really couldn't guarantee anything, however.

"Well, you weren't very far from where I was. I would've searched for Chryses, but I didn't know how bad you were hurt, like when we found you lying on the ground before." Her nerves began to dissolve as she thought of Chryses out there all by himself, and the other students who were all alone and scared and possibly hurt. Closing her eyes, she felt the beast brush again, but this time she decided to let a little show. Mostly to show Alex she was ready for whatever came next.
As she opened her eyes, they had changed from their normal yellowy green, to a solid and steady gaze of gold. Standing straighter, she'd let more of her feral side show than she'd initially planned, her manner changing the longer she stood. Looking at the zomboil from under her eyebrows, she gave a small snort. "I have to do something. Staying here like a mewling kitten won't solve anything, and certainly won't help Chryses, wherever he is. Or any of the other students out there by themselves."
Maggie began walking back towards the fog, past Alex. She looked back over her shoulder when she was a few steps from him. "You coming?" With a smirk, she disappeared into the fog. Maybe letting her feral side loose from it's leash wasn't the greatest idea she'd had, but she'd needed something to keep her from curling into a purple sobbing ball.

Hurt. Yes, Alexander had been hurt before, but most of that had not been physical. Just having Maggie mention it, however, brought the memory of it blazing back to life inside of him, and something in his chest clenched up tight and painful. "Maybe we can still find him, if he woke up like we did and stayed in one place. We would just need to try and go back in the direction we came from."
Easier said then done, really. There was really no way of knowing where they were going once they got back out into that fog, though hopefully with the light of the horsemen encampment to guide them, they would be able to find their way back here if things got really rough.
Alexander continued to wait for Maggie to make her decision. Coming, or going? He watched her as she closed her eyes, sure that she was just taking a moment to think things through, though when she opened her eyes again he couldn't help but notice the change in them.
Right, giant cat.
He just nodded along with her words, eyebrows raising at her sudden change in attitude. It was almost like a completely different ghoul was speaking now.
And then she was brushing past him, heading back out into the fog, and he turned to watch, frowning a little bit. Okay, so while he appreciated that she had somehow found herself a set, there was really such a thing as being too bold.
"Ya, I'm coming." Was his gruff reply, as he shuffled off back into the fog with her.
