INSANITY INFLICTED:
From within the confines of the fog the pull, the need for Home has grown even larger. Even now you stalk those you knew and those who threaten your very existance, making no distinction at all between them. They are all tresspassers, no matter how loudly they beg for you to come to your senses. After all, you already are. You know that Home is near. You know that there are things trying to stop you, trying to take your Home away from you.

There is another pull. This one is gentle, like an unfamiliar touch on your shoulder that forces you to stop. This way.

Something tugs at you at first. You resist before a force from behind nudges you in the right direction. Here. Home is over here.

That is more than enough to get you to follow the voice. You can feel and barely see other shapes in the fog. They are like you; following the call that is leading you towards Home. Part of you may recognize some of the shapes, a part that is quieted and shushed with the need for Home. It's near. You're sure of it. The voice isn't lying. There is something about the air, something that changes in it when you feel the texture of the ground beneath you also change.

You don't have time to make a sound before you vanish.

NON-INSANE STUDENTS AND HORSEMEN:

It is terrifying to see those you knew turn into seemingly mindless creatures out to kill you. Friend, foe, rival, lover -- the Insanity wasn't picky. Even the Horsemen were not immune to it. It didn't matter who fought against the Insanity. It didn't matter who fell. What mattered was who got back up.

There were a lot less students still standing in the face of their former classmates now than there were before. There were even some Hunters in the area, fighting against both Halloween and Insanity creatures. You're not sure how much longer you can hold on. Where were the teachers? The professors? The boogeymen? It's you against the world. For all you know, you were the first and line of defense against this enemy. Some of the horsemen were able to save those turned; others fell victim to it themselves.

The rolling fog has grown drastically, their numbers swelling with those that fell in battle. It's creeping closer and closer. It's then that you see the dull flash of something. You're not sure what it is. You're aware of the fact that the fog has become thicker, as if it was pressing up against a window pane. Wait -- did you hear that? You tilt your head to one side, listening. It sounds like... It's as if someone was shouting something far away to the point where you can hear the sound, but not make out the words. It is then that you see a dull shadow of something pass in front of you. It's an insubstantial form, a shadow of... something. Or is it someone? You're not sure.

Your attention is captivated and held by the fog before you. It is thinning, as if it is retreating back. Do you follow it?

Follow the fading fog:

HUNTERS: (and Bul)

The fog was thick outside the protective black crater. It was thicker than than the mud-like remains found at the bottom of a coffee cup and far, far more dangerous. It was hard to see the tell-tale glowing blue of the runic daggers as the fog pressed itself against it as if it had a consciousness that sought to get inside. But the barriers held firm despite the sudden dim followed by a flashing glow too bright to look at directly. The fog seemed to recoil back from it as the hunters working on the barriers cheered, the runic techs high-fiving and slapping one another on the back in wake of the small victory.

Orders were snapped and given, hunters jumping to follow through with them. The barrier crew wasted no time in decending upon the portals, pooling their knowledge together to get them up and running. The supplies were starting to run low. Getting through back to the main HQ would be the cherry on top for the hunters.

A shout went up from the perimeter. You look up to see that the fog is drastically thinner than it was before. Someone one patrol reports that the fog is pulling back. You wait, watching it warily. The loud "WHOOP!" from the center of camp is enough to make you jump and clutch your weapon protectively, only to see a bright glowing blue portal. Someone is already coming through it, holding a box. They make it about six steps before a long, inhuman gray-and-black hand reaches out from the portal and snatches at their ankle, dragging them back into it. This arm is followed by another and another, some hands others claws and oh god is that a tentacle?

You feel something grasp your own feet, and before you can draw your weapon you're yanked off of your feet. The thing drags you rapidly into the portal, and then you know no more.

YOU ARE NOW WITHIN THE INVERTED HAUNTED HOUSE

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

From within the shadow of the Haunted House lies the Inverted Haunted House, twisted and warped by Insanity. The Inverted Haunted House works much like the normal Haunted House with several differences. First and foremost is the obvious: this area is HEAVILY saturated with Insanity. Simply being within the IHH increases your risk to once again turn into an Insanity boss mob. Secondly is that your entrance into the IHH seems to have stripped everyone of every semblance of Insanity, leaving them greatly at risk to contract it again. Or has it? Thirdly, the IHH works differently than the HH.

Key Points:

 • You may RP as many characters as you'd like so long as they are official characters. As this is a story event, quest characters may not participate. Sorry!
 • You may only create ONE THREAD. Not one per character, one thread PER PLAYER. Let's say you RP Bob and Sue. You may create a thread for Bob, but Sue will have to JOIN another thread. YOU CAN ONLY CREATE ONE THREAD PERIOD.
 • You can only be in one thread at a time. If you decide to change threads, please use [ENTER] and [EXIT] headers/footers in your posts.
 • All RP will take place in THIS subforum.
 • All characters will have a limit on the PVP and actions they can undertake.
 • All characters will be at risk for contracting Insanity and possibly turning into a Boss. Except hunters: they may only begin to experience the effects and will not undergo visual changes.
 • You can track your character's actions/battles/values and opt-in to Mini Sacrifice Plot Opportunities HERE.

GETTING STARTED

This guide will be written in single-tense. If you are playing more than one character or are journeying on a group, mentally insert plurals and multiples when necessary.

Creating a thread:
Rather than throw everyone into a single thread, everyone will be creating their own threads and RPing within them. Every character can only be within ONE thread at a time. These threads can be SOLOs, PRPs, or ORPs. PvP threads will be provided for you, please see the post on PvP below.

Everyone can make ONE thread per player. This means if you are playing both Bobby and Sue, you can make a thread for only one of them. So where does that leave your other character? Easy: you can join another thread! This means you essentially can play in the meta two different ways: you can solo it, or you can bring a friend or two along for the ride and RP it out!

In a nutshell, take a look at your character. Do you want to play alone for a bit? Create a SOLO thread. Do you want to RP with specific people? Talk to them and see if they're interested. If they are, start up a PRP. If someone joins your thread, this does NOT count against the "one thread creation" rule; this will allow them to create a thread for one of their other characters. Let's say you don't care who your character runs into in the fog. Create an ORP and wait and see who you run into! If you're unsure about whether you want to create a thread or not, you can also use the DUNGEON FINDER to have a GM place you in a group with other characters.

If you want a GM or an Insanity Boss Mob Player to crash your thread, add [!] to your thread title. Please note that all characters regardless of status or faction no longer have Insanity, however it is very possible to re-infect yourself!

Static vs Dynamic Adventuring
You do not need to stick with your thread when playing in the meta. Maybe your character had a disagreement with another, or perhaps a plot opportunity arose while encountering a scenario (more on those in a bit). Or maybe you just want some alone time. At any point you are free to have your character [EXIT] a thread and [ENTER] a different one. If you were RPing win other people and decide to leave them, it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to inform them of your choice! Likewise we also encourage those who have encountered something preventing them from playing such as a block or IRL to also inform their group of such as to not accidentally hold a group back.

We seriously cannot stress enough how important communication is! If something is preventing you from playing, don't sweat it: a majority of the meta will be player paced and you will be able to catch up relatively easy. The finale, however, WILL be run by a GM with gm posts once or twice a day with the potential for multiple RP posts. This IS a story event, after all!

You also do not need to stick with your header. You created the thread; you can easily change the type it is. If you decide to change a PRP/ORP thread into a SOLO thread, make sure everyone else is aware of it or has already left the thread before you do so. Suddenly changing the thread title to a SOLO and kicking everyone out is pretty rude, don't you think?

I made a thread. Now what?
While everyone will be RPing in their own threads, all GM prompts will be posted in THIS thread. Essentially, everyone will be sharing the same GM prompt. You will be free to interact with as much or as little of the prompt as you'd like, so long as you complete it. The prompts are going to be rather... Different from the ones you've seen before in last year's Oct Meta. They are like a Choose Your Own Adventure meets a dungeon text adventure meets the day to day tasks in The World Ends With You. In fact, the best way to learn about them is to do one via the tutorial! Come back here after you've read it. Click HERE to access the OOC tutorial!

So... Have you read it yet?
Not yet.

Yes.
Good on you! Though if you haven't and clicked it anyway then click here.

PVP in the IHH

HOW TO START A PVP BATTLE:
- Roll 1D20 and Quote the character you wish to fight with the word CHALLENGE in their quote.
- You can only challenge someone in the same thread as you.
- You can quote multiple characters so long as the teams on either side are roughly even.
-- ie 3vs3, 2vs2vs2 are okay, 5vs1 is not!
-- Tho I guess if you really wanted to go 5vs1 that's okay, just make sure everyone is in the same boat and that you've discussed it with'em OOCly.

I'VE BEEN CHALLENGED! NOW WHAT?
- If you accept the battle, quote them back with CHALLENGE ACCEPTED and roll 1d20.
- If you don't accept, quote them back with CHALLENGE DECLINED and don't roll the dice.

WHO WON INITIATIVE? OR WHO ROLLED HIGHEST?
- Whoever rolled higher gets to pick which of the PVP threads your battle will take place in. In the IHH, when characters fight the Fear created by the conflict is strong enough to affect the Insanity in such a way that it will literally warp all combatants to another location for the duration of the battle.
- In layman's terms, [EXIT] the RP thread and [ENTER] a PVP thread of your choosing. Quote your opponents so they know where to go!

OKAY GREAT WHERE ARE THE PVP THREADS?
1000 Spikes
Thundering Falls of Fog
The Wine-Dark Sea

Note that these threads are public PVP threads. Multiple characters may be using them at the same time. You cannot see or assist with other battles, but sometimes you can hear them. But if one character is whispering/hissing threats to another you won't be able to hear it; you're too far away for that!

WHY ARE THERE THREE?
To give players a variety in both setting and bonuses. Otherwise, these threads are made for you in order to not disrupt your RP. When a battle is initiated, the battlers are taken to an entirely different area to exchange blows before returning to RP.

[ General Battle Mechanics/ SUDDEN DEATH: ]

- All battles are SUDDEN DEATH. Make sure to follow for general attack mechanics the battle guide HERE. Charge attacks and Fear attacks are a-okay. Natural abilities within reason are aokay and so are natural forms. For this portion of the event, distortion is allowed.
- Once a Fear/ Charged attack has been used you cannot use it again THE REST OF THE EVENT UNLESS "RECHARGED" (see below).
- Now, EACH OF THE PLAYERS WILL GET TO ROLL EXACTLY three times. They can do this at any time. Make in battle to to use the form BELOW (in this post) for OOC status EVERY POST If players are online, you can alternate exchanges with others ie: you roll, and then attack, I roll and then attack a reply, you roll etc plan it out over aim/ pms. If you are not in their timezone, just roll 3 times whenever you get online and rp out your posts.
- You can defend or heal instead of attacking. Make sure to quote your target if applicable.
- After ALL PLAYERS HAVE ROLLED three times, the BATTLE IS CONSIDERED CONCLUDED. Players can return back to the thread they were in previously, or enter a new one SO LONG AS THEY ARE IN ONLY ONE THREAD. If a player does not make any post after 12 OOC hours it is assumed they automatically use up all their turns/ take up the damage they did and do no damage in return. The players may then move on back to the previous thread they were in or select a new thread and continue onwards without punishment.
- If your characters are still bickering ICly, this does mean they return to the RP thread where they will need to roll initiative again and re-select a PVP area to continue fighting until they overcome their differences. Or until one of them is beaten down into a pulp w/e comes first.
- Upon hitting 0 HP or less the character will respawn in their faction's "base" thread after 2 OOC hours at 50% of your HP. ie you have 40/40, you would respawn at 20/40.
- You cannot target the same character 2 times in a row if there is more than one target. That means you could attack character A then B and then A. You cannot do A A B or B B A, but you could also do B A B.
- HP, Fear, and Insanity levels carry over! Be sure to note your HP values!

[ Recharging FEAR/Charge Attacks: ]
- When a PVP is OVER and your character is back in a PRP/ORP thread, they are unable to use their Fear/Charge Attacks again until it is recharged. Considering how thick the Insanity is in the IHH, Students, Horsemen, and Hunter weapons will all want to keep a high level of Fear.
- You can recharge your Fear/Charge attack by spending 5% Fear. Thus if you used two Fear attacks, you will need to spend 10% of your Fear recharging it.
- Charge attacks carry over. That means if you acquire 3/3 in a previous PVP you can use it in another PVP. (This applies only to Hunters).

gaia_crown [ SAMPLE PVP POST ]

Here is a sample of a PVP post. If NEGA ZOO and Bob do not respond, then it is assumed that they take the damage and forfeit their turns after 12 hours/ the PVP battle is OVER.

USE THIS POST FOR PVP THREADS ONLY:
YOUR CHARACTER'S NAME HERE is targeting CHARACTER NAME HERE! (Quote them please) at the bottom too, and roll your dice mechanics.
Turns used: ???/ 3 turns
Damage done/ Healing Done/ Defense done: ??? attack/ defense/ healing (specify what it is)
Additional mechanics/ bonus mechanics to be noted: Ie: if using item instead or classroom ability
Fear charges used: Specify, same mechanics for Fear attacks always apply.
Total HP remaining: You HP remaining, after you have tallied everyone in the PVP thread attacking you.
Total points remaining: LOOK AT EVERYONE CHALLENGING YOU in thread and subtract points. Just do this once per PVP.
Status of character: Year/ Rank/ Species/ small blurb about your character
SO, UH, I DIED. NOW WHAT?

If at any point your character hits or falls below 0 HP, you feel the tendrils of Insanity grab hold of you and burrow under your skin. You can only watch in horror was it digs into you, deeper and deeper until you pass out whether from pain or terror. When you awaken 2 OOC hours later you find yourself back your "base" thread with a bit of Insanity. +10% to be exact.

WAIT WHAT FIFTEEN PERCENT?

Read on to the next post to learn more about Insanity and Fear!

INSANITY AND YOU

Right now you are in the heart of Insanity. They're breathing it. They're standing in it. And quite possibility they were previously made out of it. It is very likely that anyone and everyone regardless of their faction will come into close contact with Insanity again, quite possibly to the point of once again becoming a boss monster. This time, Insanity will be measured with OOC percentage values. As you complete the prompts, your choices may have your character gain or lose Insanity. Different amounts of Insanity will cause a variety of effects in your character, some mental and others cosmetic. Hunters can NOT acquire the physical/cosmetic changes.

Thankfully there is a way to cure yourself of Insanity, even if it is only temporary. If you find yourself lucky to acquire a Pumpkin Pill or Runic Bandage, you can use either one on your Insanity. This will reset ALL of your Insanity to 0%, effectively curing you or someone else (with OOC permission!) of it completely. In return, you will gain an Insanity-Corrupted Pumpkin Pill/Runc Bandage. It's still good. Sorta. You can use it to regain HP, however your Insanity meter will be set to 50% regardless of its former value.

Quote:

10%: Increased paranoia. You think you just saw something, but you didn't. Maybe it's just your imagination. Or maybe it isn't. You're a bit more jumpy...

20%: You're feeling rather insecure to the point where you've become a lot more sensitive to comments made in your cirection. You're starting to second-guess yourself and everyone around you. Right? Right?

30%: Did you say something? You think you're hearing something, but it's hard to understand what they're saying. If anyone's saying anything. It's annoying, but it's nothing. You think. Maybe. Stop looking at me like that! I said it's nothing! Really? I... let's just drop it, okay?

40%: Someone else may notice that you're becoming more emotional. And possessive. They're YOUR friends, these are YOUR things. Stop looking at me! Why are you looking at me? I didn't do anything!

50%: The first visible signs of Insanity appear. Grey, desaturated patches are appearing here and there on your skin. They may or may not be trying to cover them up I said stop looking at me!
Note: Discoloration does not appear on hunters. For this tier, nothing happens to them. You think.

60%: The voices have grown louder. It's still impossible to understand them completely, but you know what? Maybe that's okay. They're YOUR voices. It's not like anyone else would understand you or them, or why you want to go Home. Not that home. You already have that home. The Home you want is... something that nothing seems to be able to fulfill.

70%: You're starting to lose your sense of "self," though you're unaware of it. You've become quieter. You might want to be near their possessions (including friends). Or you may wish to pull back and retreat to be by yourself completely. You don't quite like the way you're being looked at, or what the whispers are saying...

80%: You're strting to refer to yourself with "we" or "us." You don't feel as solid, yet there is still no visible change aside from larger grey patches. Unless you happen to a hunter; you still don't have those attractive grey patches.

90%: There's a drastic change in your temperment. You've become rather moody, possibly due to being plagued by Insanity's hunger/loneliness/confusion/sense of failure/need for Home/and well...insanity is visibly showing up more and more in your thoughts, words, and actions. You might as well get a sign that says "I HAVE INSANITY" in case someone still can't get it.

100%: For some, it's happening again. You've lost all real color except for your eyes that glow their previous color. The TiHer core/soul is damaged/unstable condition, and the Insane being to lose their shape, bits and pieces of their body break off or turn into wisps of loose fog-like Insanity.
Hunters: Still no visible change. But... is it just me, or do the glowing runes on your weapons seem to be a bit more... vivid?

Congratulations you are now fully infected and everyone around you knows it. You are now a boss mob. Except Hunters who don't get to become Boss mobs. They just really, REALLY need a chocolate break, okay?! Or a large tub of ice cream and you don't have either on you. Sad times.

INSANITY BOSS MOBS

INSANITY BOSS MOBS:

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
As you fall, a slow chill overtakes you, everything blurs and seems distant as only one sensation overwhelms you entirely. Nothing else matters but the need to go Home.

gaia_crown [ I want to fight an Insanity Boss Mob! ]:
- Once again, mark your thread with a [!] to be eligible for special insanity boss mobs. At this point anyone who IS an insanity boss mob may appear and invade your thread. It is up to your students/ hunters/ horsemen to rp this out as you please.
- WARNING: By attacking insanity bosses, if you are downed or dissipated, there is a chance that you will not return back as normal. That means by being attacked by an insanity boss mob you have a chance for your student/ Horsemen to become one as well

gaia_crown [ But What if my character dissipates.... ]:
- If your character becomes dissipated, roll a 100-sided dice. If you roll under 25, you reform incomplete, the fog overwhelms you, and you return as a temporary Insanity Boss Mob. If you are a HORSEMEN you have light immunity granted by Medea, so you only turn into an Insanity Boss Mob if you roll under 10. You literally can continue to dissipate and reform repeatedly until you become one (choice is up to you).
- If you are a HORSEMEN WITH INSANITY, you no longer have that Insanity and must roll under 10 in order to turn into a boss. Then have the others have to put you out of your misery.
- As an Insanity Boss Mob, you have exactly 60/60 HP. You can attack up to 2 other targets. Roll 2d12- 6. No Fear damage, you only do melee. You cannot differentiate friend from foe and attack regardless, the only thing you hear echoing in your head are words Home and Intruders. Everything else is greyed out.
- If you hit 0 HP you DISSIPATE, and there is a 2 hour ooc cooldown before you can attack again. Please only invade one thread at a time unless your thread you are in is inactive for longer than 2 OOC hours then you can choose to WITHDRAW from that thread.
- Hunters that hit 0 HP are whisked away to the Hunter base. They cannot turn into an Insanity boss, sorry!
- At this point Insanity mobs CAN return to normal!. Either through a vial or by selecting the right prompts to LOWER your Insanity. In order to return to normal your Insanity level must reach 70%!
- A battle thread can have a MAX of two mobs at a time, but make sure as a mob you coordinate with the other mob players! If you see a thread that has one boss, please ASK if it's okay to join before jumping in!
- Insanity mobs CANNOT interact with each other very well. There is no reason for them to!
- This can only happen to students or horsemen, Hunters at this point cannot be Insanity mobbed sorry!
- A default insanity mob image has been provided below: if players wish to use their own that is fine! Just make sure to keep the image GREY with your character's FORMER EYE COLOR. It must look like the character either natural form or humanoid one, please don't give them features (other than a disappearing fog-like look) that they don't already have.

gaia_crown [ I AM ATTACKING AS AN INSANITY BOSS MOB ]:

- Congrats... I think! Make sure you use the form below:

WAIT YOU MENTIONED SOMETHING ABOUT FEAR?

In this meta, Fear and Charged Attacks do not "reset" between battles. In order to replenish those values you need to spend some of your Fear.

All characters start out with 100% Fear. In order to recharge a Fear or Charged attack, you must spend 5% of your Fear.

At any time, you can use Fear to counter-act Insanity in lieu of a healing item. Let's say you are at 100% Fear, and 25% Insanity. After a prompt, you realize your character is at 35%. You can spend 10% of your Fear to drop back down to 25% and avoid having them hear voices. Thus, you'd be at 90% Fear, 25% Insanity.

What's Fear used for?
Recharging Fear/Weapon charges and staving off Insanity. You're using your body/weapon's own energy to fight it off though, so it IS limited.

Is there any way to recharge it?
Using a non-corrupted Pumpkin Pill or Runic Bandage will restore it to 100%.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

SO HOW DO I GAIN/LOSE INSANITY AND FEAR?

- You can gain and lose both Insanity and Fear through the GM prompts.
- Pumpkin Pills, Runic Bandages, and Horseman Vials can restore Fear.
- If you WIN a PvP battle, -5% Insanity
- If you LOSE a PvP battle, +5% Insanity
- If you DISSIPATE, you gain +10% Insanity
- Different PvP threads have different ways you can lose/gain Insanity. Be sure to read the first posts of each one!

F.A.Q.

How many threads can I make?
ONLY ONE THREAD. One. PERIOD. Not per character, just ONE THREAD TOTAL.

I'm about to fight someone in PvP. Where do I go?
You can go to one of these threads:
1000 Spikes
Thundering Falls of Fog
The Wine-Dark Sea

Each leads to a PvP area where you and your opponent can exchange blows before the Insanity returns you two to your previous area. The only differences between the threads are the settings and the different bonuses applicable to Insanity values.

How many actions can I preform?
Just one. Choose wisely.

After thinking about it, I want to change my character's action! May I?
You may, only if the consequences have not been posted. Once the consequences go up, you have to stick with that choice.

While I was writing my post to change my action, the consequences appeared.
Unfortunately you'll need to stick with your previous action-choice. If you posted it a minute before, then you can stick to your new choice. But once the new choices go up, even if it's at the same time, only the previous choices will count.

I joined the meta late and made a choice. Can I chance the action I picked? I haven't looked at the consequences!
Nope, sorry!

How many threads can I RP in?
How many characters are you RPing? One character can only be in one thread at any given time. This character can change threads, however you can only create one thread during the entire duration of this event. Create wisely.

Can I delete my thread and remake it?
Nope.

What sort of thread can I make?
A quick reminder: you can only make ONE THREAD Let's say you RP Bob and Sue. This means you can make one thread for Bob, but Sue will have to JOIN an existing thread or use the Dungeon Finder to find a group to play with.

What can the group make-up be like?
Anything you want to play! You want an intrepid group of Hunters to brave the risks of the unknown Insanity? You can do that. You have a student who wants to tail a Horseman to see what they're really up to? You can do that. You want to throw a student and hunter together and see if they can set aside their differences in order to work together in the name of survival? You can totally do that and I'd honestly love to see tha- *SHOT*

Either way, what I'm trying to say is that the "prompts" are there only to give you a setting and ending outcomes. How your character arrives at one of the outcomes and what they do between the settings is up to you. You don't need to make a choice right away -- you can RP to your heart's content and move on when you feel ready/the RP is ready to move on.

I want to play a certain character, but I don't see any PRPs or ORPs they can join and I already made my thread! What can I do?
You can use the DUNGEON FINDER to join a random group! As either zoobey or Marushii will make a thread for you, it does not count against your limit!

So I created an ORP and my character left it... can I transfer the ownership of the thread to someone else and make a new thread?
Nope, sorry! One thread limit per person. If your character leaves it, then those within it will not be able to change it into an ORP/PRP/etcetc until your character comes back, or until they make their own thread.

What do Pumpkin Pills/Runic Bandages/Vials do?

So about the fu dog in the tutorial --
That is NOT CANON and never happened to your character. Don't reference it in RP or talk about it; that NEVER HAPPENED.

I'm still confused about thread titles. Can you give me an example?
Sure! Let's say you jump in and a couple prompts have passed. You'd like to catch up, and you haven't made a thread yet. You can make a [SOLO] thread and write out your character's responses to the prompts.

Let's say you write a prompt and your friend comes online for a bit. You can change the title of your thread from [SOLO] to [PRP] to play with them. You two (or three or four!) RP out the next bit. It could be in the middle of a prompt, or just extra fluff.

When your friend leaves, they can [EXIT] your thread and change the title back into a [PRP].

I haven't made a choice in a prompt and the next one is up already! What do I do?
Carry on as if you haven't seen the next prompt. Go ahead and make your choice, then proceed onto the next prompt when ready.
