Korriban... Ancient birthplace of the Sith... We believed that ancient ruins were all that was left of their evil Empire...~ Grand Master Satelle
All great Sith must start somewhere! Acolytes will start there training here, and Overseers will send them to their tasks offworld when necessary. Though Korriban is but a shell of what it once was, the Dark Side still resonates from this planet, and there are dangers for new acolytes, not only from the local wildlife, but from fellow acolytes as well.

Darda wandered towards the outskirts of the academy. The ruins still stood strong here except for a few places which had crumbled over time. He gained access through one such place. He had discovered this spot sometime ago, and he had come to like it for it's seclusion from the rest of the academy. He could meditate or practice his forms without another Sith challenging him to the death. He loved battle, but it did grow tiring not facing anyone worthy of his skill. He finally made his way through the empty ruins to a large circular room, which he thought was meant for meditation for a powerful figure long ago as it was perfect for that. Darda removed his cloak and chest armor, leaving it at the edge of the room. He then made his way to the center of the room where he sat down cross-legged with his lightsaber lying in his lap. The room was as quiet as death, the only sound that could be heard was the slow rythmic breathing produced by Darda.
Images of his past started flashing through his mind. Darda was six now and he had just performed a technique poorly, the whip came hard and fast, ripping through cloth and skin. Darda let out pain induced scream, but he was snapped out of his flashback from the sound of a low growl. The sound was unmistakable since it had been seared into his mind from tales spun by the overseers. This creature 'the tarentatek' but Darda knew them as Jedi Killers. They are believed to have been created by Exar Kun and the use of Sith Alchemy, however other belive it was simply a rancor that had become twisted by the dark side of the force. It mattered little now to Darda as he had alot of trouble on his hands. He stood up calmy with his lightsaber in hand,"It seems I have finally found something worthy of my skill." he said as he lifted his head to the creature standing in front of him. This creature would trouble most Sith and Jedi alike for its incredible immunity to the force, however Darda, though force sensitive cared little for the trickery used by so many others.
Darda grew tired of the waiting and pick up some medium sized rocks from the rubble and lauched them at the beast. He knew it wouldn't do anything he just wanted the thing mad, his move worked according to plan. The beast charged him with a speed that seemed too fast for a creature that large and Darda barely dodged it. It turned to face Darda again and like a bull charged, but this time swung it's venomous claws to try and cleave Darda in half, but he leapt in the air and took three of the tarentatek's claws with him. Blood and a potent smelling liquid poured from the wound inflicted on it's right hand. The beast roared violently before charging a third time and Darda began to think this creature ignorant, but he was mistaken. Darda jumped again but this time was hit mid-air and launched across the room. He had just gotten to his feet when he was hit by the creature's large arm a second time and smashed against a pillar. He got to his feet again, but dove to the side just in time as the tarentatek crashed into a pillar bringing down large chunks of stone upon itself. This gave Darda some time to try and locate his lightsaber which he had lost when he got smacked in the air. Darda saw his weapon not far from the tarentatek, but the animal had gotten up out of the rubble at the same time. It turned to meet him and started to charge, desperately Darda reached out to his lightsaber and willed it towards his hand. The saber flew through the air, passing the beast and into Darda's hand giving him enough time to start a charge of his own. He ran at the monster full speed, ducking a swing from it's left arm and went into a slide, as he did he swung his lightsaber around opening a huge cut across the creature's stomach and simultaneously making large cuts on it's legs. Darda came out of the slide landing perfectly, but his right leg buckled bringing him to a kneel. He looked in amazement at the tarentatek as it turned showing intestines protruding from the wound. It started to charge, but once it reached full speed it's legs gave out from the cuts and fell, sliding towards Darda, but came to a stop a few feet away dead. Darda stood up holding the left side of his ribs, which from his breathing were clearly broken. "A worthy opponent." he said, giving a half bow. He limped towards his cloak and armor, then headed off towards the academy, needing a few days in a kolto tank.

Solstice had remained in her chamber for the majority of the day, catching up on some reading that she hadn't had time for in awhile. While many of her fellow Sith were no doubt working on their physical skills, perhaps even enjoying a few near death experiances to get their heart's pumping; Solstice now spent much of her time studying. In study there was knowledge and as the saying goes: knowledge is power. If practiced of course.

One of the Overseers entered Solstice's room, silently to where she didn't notice. The human spoke in an irritated voice, as per usual. Acolyte, did you not hear the news? Lord Arcius is coming today for an inspection tour. As the Emperor's Wrath, if things are not up to par with him, there will be punishments beyond reckoning. Go with the others and clean up this mess. His cold eyes turned as he headed out the door.

Solstice's grey eyes flashed as she watched the Overseer leave. With an indignant look on her face she left her remarkably tidy room (she had very few possesions) and headed out into the corridor. What mess had these impudent fools done to get the Overseers in such a state? Probably not much, Solstice thought with a smirk. It was times like these that she couldn't wait to become a Sith Lord so she might act humiliating revenge upon the people who had been her tormentors for years.

Once everyone was out in the main courtyard, the head overseer once more spoke out to everyone. As you all know, Lord Arcius is coming today to see how things are looking. Make sure you make yourselves look at least somewhat presentable when he arrives, I wouldn't wanrt him to think we are training riff raff here at the Korriban Academy. With that, he left to go atytend to other things. The Ebony Bane, Darth Arcius' personal starfighter, had been making it's way to Korriban for almost 4 hours, and would take at least two more to reach the planet. Arcius sat in the cockpit, meditating on the Force when he received a holo-comm from Imperial Fleet. Speak Captain. The officer looked nervous, but held his composure. "My lord, forgive me if I interrupted anything, but this is an urgent message. There have been reports of a missing Imperial Cruiser out in the more remote regions of space. It has top secret material, and it was requested of you to attend to this?" Arcius, after a few minutes, gave the Captain his attention. I will see to it after visiting Korriban. With that, the captain bowed before he flashed out of existence from the terminal. I am no errand boy... What is so important on this lost cruiser that I personally and requested? He meditated on the Force for answers as he neared Korriban.

Solstice kept her face placid, but she could hardly contain her anger at the insult delt by the Overseers. She was the epitome of organization, she thought ahead, and that had always served her well. She'd managed to live 14 years in the academy without so much as a hint of favoritisam, quite the opposite really. She clenched and unclenched her fists in silent anger and wished someone would attempt to fight her so she might practice crushing their throats to relieve her agression. But alas, with Lord Arcius so near it was unlikely anyone would attempt.

A couple hours had passed, and everyone had gathered in the main courtyard once more, this time however was to greet the Dark Lord. Arcius' ship appeared in atmosphere, landing gracefully on the landing pad. The boarding ramp lowered, an impatient looking Pureblood strode out, contempt thrown towards most of the Overseers. Two years ago, this Academy had a fine Overseer, Lord Cronus. Unfortunately, his skills had been needed elsewhere in the fight against the Republic, and so the Academy was left in other, less capable hands. Am Overseer came to greet Darth Arcius, but was shrugged off. I am not here for a social visit, Overseer. I am simply there to ensure things are running to the standards... However lowered they have been in the past two years... The amount of Pureblood instructors here had disturbed him as well, though that may be mostly because of the elitism most Red Sith have. The Force had been telling him he would find someone here to take with him, but he kept that from the Overseers. Not that they would question him on anything. He could do anything and say it was in the name of the Emperor, and get away with it.

Solstice couldn't help but feel some admiration toward the Sith Lord, he carried himself well. In other words, making it clear he had other things to do then waste his time on Acolytes and an Academy that she was sure had fallen short of his ideals. What must it be like to be the Emperor's Wrath? The very name sent chills down Solstice's spine. To command that sort of power, to have those resources. . .to have your very pressence send lesser beings into frightful quivering. She was almost drunk with power just by thinking about it. But she was by no means delusional, she knew her place in the Empire. But Solstice felt she was destined for greater things. How often had she wanted to be sent off on a mission to search for artifacts that lay in the terrible and ancient places near the Academy? She scoffed at Acolytes and Apprentices alike who did not understand the value of the wisdom they held, it was shameful.

Arcius pretended to look interested as he walked around the Academy. Treachery was everywhere, it pleased the Dark Lord that at least that remained. He remembered his own days here, every moment here he trusted no one, he always planned for the worst, and expected to be backstabbed by a sith warblade at any moment. Even in his sleep he was constantly aware of his surroundings. He returned to the present Academy when he almost bumped into a human female. he took a second to look her over, sensing that though her connection was not overly powering (compared to the others), he could sense she had conviction, a desire to exceed beyond expectations given to her. You. What is your name? How long have you been... training... here? Just the way she held herself was enough for her to catch his interest.

Solstice bowed respectfully to the Sith, "I am Solstice Thane. I have been training for nearly 16 years." She was not quite certain if he wished to be addressed by a title, for he seemed to be a Sith Lord of few words and wanted to get straight to the point, and speaking to him so might appear as groveling and the last thing she wanted was to be thrown into the same cast as everyone else.

Arcius stare into her a moment more before speaking again. Solstice Thane... Tell me Acolyte, you've been here for 16 years, you were here when Lord Cronus ran things here... Has there been a difference in how things are here since he left? He whispered softly to her in a slightly menacing tone, oh, and I will be referred to as "Lord", unless I say otherwise, are we clear? he glared deep into her eyes with his own hate infused red eyes.

Solstice let out a soft breath which was a smothered hiss. She met his red eyes unflinchingly and began again, "Yes, my Lord," she said quietly, "There has been a difference." She would have continued but thought better of it and just let her thoughts burn below the surface of her mind like lava under a thick layer of crust. But what can one expect when the Academy is now being run by people who only feel power when they bully Acolytes? There have been many murders gone unanswered because of their cowardess, they are to afraid to use the information those tortured youngsters give them.

Arcius gave a small smile of satisfaction. Good... Someone else has noticed... He began again with the acolyte. What changes have you noticed? Are things better? Worse? He glanced at one of the Overseers, concern on his mind no doubt. I myself have noticed changes... I was hoping to get an unbiased opinion on the matter. From someone who has been here. Someone who no doubt has the desire to attain something better. He turned towards the Valley of the Dark Lords, his hands relaxed behind his back. I only wish for the Acolytes here to be all that they can be, through any means they deem necessary. After all, A Sith Lord must make decisions based on what they feel is the best approach, whether that be with tact, or with no remorse. He continued his gaze into the Valley.

Solstice followed his gaze. "I will do my best to give you an unbiased opinion my Lord. Some of the Overseers act as if they know what each Sith Lord is looking for in an apprentice and will kill those they deem unworthy without consult, and often they pick a favorite. Perhaps it is because they think this Acolyte will look upon them favorably in later years." Her grey eyes watched his face closely as she said her next bit, "Some of them favor the Sith purebloods over all others. If you will forgive me, my Lord, I believe to become a true Sith one must make it by on their own skill and wit alone, and not on that of an Overseer who has taken a shine." Again Solstice gave a slight bow of respect, "And it is this that has changed since Lord Cronus's departure. A great upsurge in unchallenged favoritism and coddling."
