Name: Sydelle (Sigh - del)
Race: Majin ---> Spiritus
◆
Feeding: Sydelle feeds primarily on the emotions she can elicit from others. Her preference runs to pity, sympathy, vulnerability and sadness. However she also has a habit of eliciting protective feelings from people as well. Her favorite meals come from the feelings coursing through a person when they confide their secrets with her, largely because every time she sees that person those emotions tend to come to the surface again and she can have an easy snack.
◆
Spiritus - Sydelle's true form is that of
Nyarlathotep, a terrifying deity from the world of Lovecraft.
Aspirations: Sydelle has been raised to lust after power. While her personal reasons are very much her own, she knows there is something special about her and intends to make it to the rank of Spiritus by any means necessary.
Personality: ◆
Fretful - Sydelle always seems to be worried about something. She's extremely focused on her grades, because she doesn't want to dissapoint her teachers. She's constantly hyper-aware of how she appears to people and how she behaves around others, since for the first time in her life she is without guidance on how to hide her status as a Majin. She often goes about with an expression on her face which makes her appear to be near tears, which gives people the impression that she is frail and vulnerable and possibly unstable.
◆
Eager to Please - Sydelle doesn't like the feeling that people are dissapointed in her. She grew up with a guardian who constantly berated her, and because of this she is always trying to make other people happy. However, she only really cares about the perceptions of people she believes to hold positions of power. Upperclassmen, teachers, Knights etc... These are the people she goes out of her way to make happy. With everyone else she tends to go with the flow, but not make any impressive efforts.
◆
Manipulative - While those big burgundy eyes and worried pout are truly results of her constant stress level, Sydelle is not above milking the impression that she is in need of protection. She finds that playing a general victim role often gets her what she wants. And when it doesn't, making subtle comments that make people suspicious and mistrustful of one another often accomplishes her goals just as well.
◆
Trustworthy - Well, people seem to think she is at any rate. Sydelle collects secrets and confidances the way other girls collect dolls. Because she is small and unassuming many people feel comfortable confiding in her. She never seems to judge anyone, is a wonderful listener and knows how to make a person feel completely validated. In exchange, all she asks is for you to reveal the deepest and darkest elements of your soul.
History: There is a quiet, hidden group of Majin that reside within Lilium Hallow. Majin who crave power above all else, Majin who don't care who they step on while they walk the path to glory. This is not a cult that you merely join, however. When a young Majin is ready to devour their first heart, the selection process is very specific. The target must be the only living human parent of a Majin child. When the parent's heart has been devoured, the child is brought into the folds of the group and raised by one of the senior members to adhere to the dogmatic and often violent belief system of the group.
Sydelle was only four when a young Majin devoured her mother's heart. Not old enough to remember the incident with any real clarity. What she does remember vividly is her childhood with the woman called Chlor. It was a childhood that took place in opulent surroundings, but that was emotionally stark and cold. Sydelle never seemed to be able to please Chlor the way some of the other girls pleased their guardians. She was frequently punished with harsh words and deprivation of sleep and food, though she was never abused physically. This was not a system that was unique to Sydelle's guardian but rather a time-tested method of raising obedient children into brainwashed, bloodthirsty Majin.
Traditionally, children raised by this particular sect never attended proper school, especially not the Academy. Instead, they were ruthelessly taught to control their desires and hide their identities in public. It was believed that the more control a Majin held over themselves the more powerful they could grow to become. Sydelle learned how to feed off of humans with such delicacy that they would not even sense what she was doing. All the lessons in control were designed to help a Majin survive until what the cult considered a coming-of-age ceremony, in which they would devour their first heart and embrace their true nature.
Alas for Sydelle, her guardian Chlor died from a Reaper attack. The Reaper somehow didn't realize that the terrified teenaged girl cowering in the corner was an enemy as well. Before the cult had the chance to regain control of Sydelle, she had been enrolled in the Academy and firmly ensconced in the dormitories. When the cult was once again able to gain contact with the girl, it was decided that she should remain in the Academy and complete her studies. There were numerous potential benefits to this plan of action and, as she had been exposed to their teachings quite early in her life, the leadership did not believe that she would be easily shaken from her righteous path.

Magic focus: Sydelle is naturally skilled at illusion and glamour. This comes from her spiritus origin, Nyarlathotep. As a Witchling and early in her career as a Witch, Sydelle can cast glamour on herself - these are often merely auras that cause people to react to her in a certain way (pity, etc). she is not initially aware she is even doing this.
As her skills grow, she will begin to be able to cast illusions on herself and others who are willing, starting with simple things like changing an eye or a hair color, and graduating eventually to full illusion disquises. Eventually she will be able to cast illusions on her surroundings as well.
At the rank of Spiritus, Sydelle will not only gain a horrifying form. Her powers of illusion will increase dramatically. She will also gain the ability to gather "followers" who will lose all concept of the world around them and exist solely within the reality Sydelle chooses to create for them.
