The PSWii60 era seems to be full of enhanced game revivals.

I'll list 3 examples.

Pac-Man Championship Edition DX: While less survival oriented than the game it's based off, it is still Pac-Man. The new gameplay starts off slow and gets faster as you play until you're practically on super-steroids. The object is to score as many points as you can in a limited time, and to that end you are given 5 bombs. Though there are rewards for not using any of them. The ghosts are smarter and in greater numbers and it's quite possible to have a whole line of admirers chasing after you.

Galaga Legions DX: Basically Galaga, but every Galaga formation has a "core" enemy that destroys that entire fleet if you can manage to hit it... with a huge score bonus. You can move and/or shoot in a 360 range now. Pure magic to play, really.

Frogger Hyper Arcade Edition: More goals for Frogger to land on. More Lady Frogs. I kind of wish it had an original-sounding BGM though since they have the original sprites. There are also maps in which the game is reskinned to look like Dance Dance and Karaoke Revolution, Contra, or Castlevania. This enhanced revival really just makes Classic Frogger's cheap "you're one pixel too far from the lily pad" deaths a lot less common.

I think a well-done recreation is fine. Unfortunately, those are about as readily available as a Wii capable of playing World of Warcraft.

I'd love to see a recreation of the original Final Fantasy. They don't have to change a thing regarding the mechanics, either; just uplifted graphics and audio, with the occasional cutscene, would be a goldmine. They'd be tapping the nostalgia market and the "new to the franchise" market at once.

Unfortunately, if they DID do such a thing, it would have dozens of "missing" items, spells, monsters and bosses that would "have" to be patched back in by paid first-day DLC. Probably individually.

Unfortunately, our society no longer rewards creativity, because that cost money, damnit! Why be creative when there's already plenty of used creativity just lying around?

Don't be silly. Square wouldn't intentionally leave stuff out. That is a Capcom thing.

Capcom is certainly the current master of the art (Seriously; making content advertised as "exclusive" available to everyone across all systems DLC, then even making a final level and boss DLC??? ******** you, Capcom!), but by no means the only practioner. Square is thankfully avoiding it for now, but I've no doubt they'll join the horde soon enough.

Having preorder DLC only be exclusive for a month is better then never releasing it to the public, a la Soul Calibur IV.

Actually, if memory serves it was more along the lines of how people who preordered Halo ODST got the Sgt. Johnson skin as an exclusive bonus. Except capcom then goes and makes it available to everyone, afterward. That's sorta like winning the gold in the olympics, then finding out that the OC sent gold medals to all the other competitors a few weeks later.

I'm fine with giving certain companies a jump on DLC (like Microsoft getting Dawnguard before Sony), but you don't offer something as "exclusive" if you're going to be selling it to everyone else, anyway.
