the back ground story is all i have.

"it is the dark ages where vampires are causing havic to the villages near them. six kids born of celtic blood decide to work together in order to get back at those who killed their families."
there are 3 boys and 3 girls and all of them are around their teens. the vampires are pure evil and the celtic blood gives them better marksmenship and they are more intuned to their surroundings

Obviously we have a wee problem here;

We don't have a slight idea of characters. You said there were three of each gender for the Celtics, ya?

So why not have a vampire character availible too? When you don't have any actually live enemy you are more likely to god-mode, me thinks, especially since there's nothing to moderate against you.

So ja.

We obviously need to make a thread, too.

Thing is the Celtics are the main characters, thus making them a wee bit stronger then the rest, ja?

Then there's the problem of GOD-MODDING.

Again, bringing that up.

If we have no one on the other side, we're probably gonna make it that we just blast through thousands of them unscathed, and nobody will care because it's helping their situation, not degrading it.

Rest my case.

Looool, there's no need to make three threads about the same RP at once, but I like that you're looking for help. Isa-sama seems to be helping you flesh out your plot; maybe you should update the first post of this thread as you come up with stuff?

The great thing about designating a playable character to be one of your evil vampires as Zigbon suggests is that your six heroes would get a solid enemy to attack. It also means less work for you because otherwise, as the creator of the RP, you would have to play the army of vampires yourself.

Oh wow. . . so many threads.

Please consolidate your threads into one and let me know which one you are going to keep. I will delete the rest.

As for help, you don't need players on the opposing side to prevent god-moding. Just make it a rule they can't god-mod and then actually enforce that rule. The only thing you really have to worry about with not having your players play the bad guys is that you (the Game Master, thread starter) have to be the bad guy, which can mean playing several characters at once. This is actually how most RPs used to run back in the olden days of tabletop gaming with systems like D&D and many others.

While having the GM play the bad guys is more work than getting players to do it there's a trade off in reducing the drama often caused by player vs player scenarios, which can get nasty. I would honestly not suggest a first time GM trying to do player vs player.

At the same time, I'd be careful with making only one player be on the 'bad guy' side as it gets lonely for the player over there. So either no actual bad guys as players (though you could have one be a vampire just a good one that's fighting on the humans' side) or at least two so that they have someone to play with and not always against.

But let's take a step back a moment. We're getting ahead of ourselves.

First we should be asking what you want to do with this RP. What sorts of things do you want in it?

Do you want to focus more on the actual fighting between the humans and vampires with a lot of combat and action?

Or do you want to deal more with the dramatic elements, the searching for who killed their families, how that affected them, and the strategy of hunting undead beings that are in most mythologies much stronger than humans.

Which brings up the important question of what kind of vampires are you dealing with?

So with a dramatic intent in mind, now you should decide where the story begins.

You've said the 6 main characters' families will be killed but when should that happen? You could start the RP with that, with their discovery of their families' deaths.

Or you could start it after, when they've come together in their grief and are looking for the cause.

They may not know it was the vampires at first. They may not even know of vampires - thinking them just myth.
