Jai scoured the Hogwart's grounds carefully. He had been looking for crickets for hours and still hadn't seen a single one! Where had they all gone off to? He needed some to feed to his tarantulas' Azura and Booker. They were likely to be super hungry today, as they hadn't eaten since two days before. Thankfully they didn't need to eat every day or the task of finding them grasshoppers would be much harder.
"AHA!" He exclaimed in glee when he spotted a small grasshopper hopping through the short grass. He pounced on it, only for it to hop away right before he could grasp it with his hands. Jai laughed, his sharp eyes picking it up once more and went after it.
Somehow the grasshopper kept eluding him, but he didn't get mad at it or begrudge the creature for staying on head of him. It just made it more of a challenge, and more fun. The poor thing was just trying to survive. He figured if this one managed to get away he'd just have to keep looking.
He was so caught up in chasing the grasshopper that he didn't realize he was chasing the grasshopper closer and closer to a girl who was sitting under a tree sketching away. If he had seen her, he probably would have gone in a different direction to keep the grasshopper from jumping in the middle of her sketchbook.
"GOTCHA!" Jai said in triumph closing both hands over the grasshopper and then realized that he had just put his hands in the middle of someone's drawing. "Uh, sorry about that. I didn't realize he'd be coming your way." Jai murmured finding himself face to face with a blonde haired brown eyed girl.

Moa liked spending time outdoors, even though her skin sometimes burned and her skirts continued to accumulate dirt and grass stains. She liked the way the colors were always so much brighter in the sunlight, and that no matter how many times she sat down under the large, shady tree, there was always something new and beautiful to draw.
And even the things that weren't new were still beautiful and fun to draw, like the mountains that stretched around the lake, blocking out the horizon in an artful zigzag of blues and purples. They, along with the shimmering waves of the lake, were a favorite of hers to sketch, and were currently coming to creation on her sketchbook, salmon scribbles fading from a corner to create the sky.
Moa smiled at the sketchbook, liking the way the clouds were forming from the absence of color on her page. She turned slightly to her left to replace the pencil in it's box and grab out one of the lighter purples when someone seemingly shouted in her ear and lunged for her.
Moa squeaked loudly and jumped slightly, but the boy's hands and her sketchbook were not disturbed. Mouth parted in a small 'O,' she sat still as possible, mostly in shock, and stared at him, blinking occasionally. It was really easy to stare, since the dark-eyed boy was right in her face, so she continued to do that for a bit even after he had spoken his apology.
"O-oh." She said, her mind floating back to her and letting her know he had been speaking. "O-oh?" She looked down slightly at his hands, which were cupped over something on her sketchbook. She looked back up at him and blinked. "A-ah, that... that's o-okay?"

Jai was a bit surprised by her reaction. She didn't seemed as alarmed as he thought she would have been by a strange boy being so close to her. He carefully maneuvered the grasshopper into his cupped hands making sure not to crush it.
While he hated the fact that he had to give live creatures to his tarantulas to eat, he knew that it was the natural order of things. He couldn't make them start eating something else, and was glad that his spiders weren't big enough to want to eat mice just yet. That was going to be much more difficult for him.
"Well I'm sorry for startling you. I need to go get this to my pet Azura." He said getting to his feet.
Jai looked down to look at the sketchbook and was surprised to see that she had a rather beautiful sketch started of the lake. "Oh that's really pretty, you did a nice job." He said glancing a little closer.
"What other types of things do you draw?"

Moa watched the boy cup his hands and retrieve them from the page. She wasn't sure exactly what it was he was doing, with his hands all over her page. If he told her, she must have missed it. She looked closer when he said it was for his pet, and she wondered what he was holding so delicately. "Oh?" Was that all she could say today?
Moa watched the boy stand and go to leave, before he was distracted again. She squeaked at his compliment, and her face colored quickly. "T-thanks." She smiled slightly at him, and leaned back to give him some room, flattening her legs so he wouldn't have to reach to see, though it would still be upside down. "I-I um, I d-draw, ah, l-lots of, of stuff." She reached out for the sketchbook, hands shaking slightly, and she picked it up and slowly turned it over, so it was no longer upside down. "L-like, ah... um.... l-landscapes and, ah, pe-people? And, um... a-anything really..."

Jai could see that the girl was wondering what he had cupped in his hands. "It's a cricket." He said with a smile and opened his hands slightly and lowered them to where she could see what he had inside of them.
"My tarantula Azura was getting hungry and I had to come out and catch something for her. Just don't tell anyone," He said glancing around nervously making sure no one had overheard him. "I'm really not supposed to have her here. I kind of snuck her in."
Jai was a bit surprised that the girl actually squeaked in response to his compliment, and then her face turned a bright shade of rose pink. Wow, he had never seen someone blush that much. He smiled down at her as reassuringly as he could. "Well that's cool." He said squatting next to her. If he didn't have the cricket in his hands he'd have turned her sketchbook pages to see some of her other drawings. Though he wondered if that would have annoyed her.
"You'll have to show me the others sometime. Are you going to be out here for much longer? I'd like to come back and look at them if you will be. Oh hey, would you be interested in drawing one of my bugs? I have some really pretty beetles that I could bring out for you to draw."
