At last we reach the final debate. Same rules as the last two.

Voting will begin August first, so voters, pay attention and think well on your choice. Candidates, keep your campaigns alive, and generate interest in yourselves.

~

For this debate, I have only one question. I may throw in more, but I want to alter the way this works. I want you to discuss the results of this question amongst yourselves. Let us see you at your best, and how you handle a debate.

What do you think of your fellow candidates? What are their good points? What are their bad? What have you seen wrong in their campaigns, and how would you suggest they do it instead? And if you yourself lost, which of your fellow candidates would you like to see win? Why?

I know that was a lot of questions, but that's the gist of what I'd like this debate's subject to be at first. We've started the run as individuals trying to promote self, now look at each other, and show what you can do as a unit.

I guess I'll go first then.

All of my fellow candidates have their strong suits and their weak ones, but they all want the same thing; all of the runners in the campaign want a single thing: to make this guild a great one. To make POTS great, by their own accord, whether it be by fixing what is wrong with the guild, building systems from the ground up, tightning restrictions and explaining rules better, or loosening these very restrictions. All of my fellow candidates are qualified and very able to do the job as Captain, no one can deny any of them that. They have all done something important for the guild at one point or another; whether it be regulating systems or keeping things running smoothly. I can honestly say that I don't see anything trully bad in a campaign; any of them. One can't trully label a point as bad or such thing because, as I said, we all want the same thing, but the method is different and from what I've seen, there isn't a wrong way to go about it, save for not doing anything about it.

If I lost, I'd like to see either Greg, Luo or Hikaro win. Each one of them would have my vote for a different reason. Luo because he is the oldest runner in the lot, he has the most experience with POTS politics. Greg then has my vote because he is one of the hardest hitters in the crew itself. I believe that he is able to get the job, any job that goes his way, done. And lastly, Hikaro. The newest adition to the crew without including myself. I think it would be good to allow her a chance to run as captain because as we crew, and some members as well, are aware of, Hikaro is extremely helpful within the crew subforum, and that is always a must.

This is the part where I am supposed to say "well I think everyone would be great for the job". Admittedly I can't commit to that comment entirely. Everyone certainly has something to offer, but I'm not sure everyone would be good for POTS at this time.
I would say Luo is the best looking candidate with Greg following a close second. Luo's only real issue is his activity, as he addressed in his campaign page. I don't think this is a big enough issue as he has done a great job of keeping kirigakure in line and probably one of (if not the) most active villages in the guild.
Gregar's main weakness is his reputation and people skills as he is well known for putting people off, especially newcomers (which we really need). That said he is undoubtedly the most known member of POTS and his activity is top notch at almost all times.
Somnis and Akura I've seen go off the wall one too many times, and I don't believe they have developed the understanding of POTS a captain should have. They are certainly worth keeping in the crew but think they need some work before I'd be willing to put the whole guild in their hands.
Hikaro. Now I really like her due to a deep-seated bias, so I can't really make as objective of a review as I would like. Her activity does tend to drop off every now and then due to rl. She is also kind of a new card, and has had no experience as a real captain (or even as crew outside of POTS). That said she has worked very hard in her time as crew, tends to work with the crew when possible. She has dedicated her gaia life to POTS and refuses to let it die, and tries to consider opposing views and keep things diplomatic wherever possible. She also very occasionally talks in third person, which may be either a plus or minus depending on the individual rating her and some may argue is not a very original thing for her to do.

I think all of my fellow candidates are good people. We all have the same goal of keeping this guild alive and bringing more life into it, and it is genuinely pleasing to see people step up and truly wish to better this guild without ulterior motive or some sort of agenda.

There's not that much 'wrong' with the way anyone is campaigning. I think the only hiccup I saw along this rather short campaign trail was with Akura, but as I'd explained within his campaign thread it seems the whole situation stemmed from passion for this guild, something I want to see in every candidate. Once more as I already have, I'd suggest Akura to believe in himself as a candidate. If a candidate has doubt in himself as a potential guild captain, it's difficult to rally a guild of people behind you. Confidence is key, and I'd lend that advice to every candidate.

All in all, I think every candidate had very good points, points that we all seemed to touch on in our own way.

Hikaro's platform in general is well placed, we do need to fix what we have before moving on to new systems. I've said it before in the crew and I'll say it again, we cannot continue to pile more projects onto our plates. It's only a matter of time before the plate spills over and we find ourselves way behind on guild development as a whole. Besides that, Hikaro is pretty level-headed which is a good thing to be as a captain. I wouldn't call this a bad point so much as something that hasn't occurred, but Hikaro to my knowledge has yet to have to deal with unruly guild members. I don't doubt she could do it, however her ability to do it well is something we have yet to see.

With Akura I've already delved into the negative with him so I'm not going to reiterate those things. Akura clearly has so much passion for this guild, and it really shows in his campaign. I think his overall zeal for wanting to help this guild is refreshing, and I hope that despite any outcomes of this race for captaincy, he continues to bring this attitude into the crew and into the guild, we really need that around here!

Gregar and I have known and worked with each other here for quite a while. We've had small disagreements, but in the end we've always been able to talk it out and compromise, albeit pretty easily too. I think sometimes Gregar's reputation overshadows what he really does for this guild, which is a bit unfair in most cases. He's good at what he does and operates differently from most of us in the crew which is good, some times we all need a good dose of straight unyielding rationale. In saying this, I also believe that it is this same characteristic of Gregar that is a hindrance to him. Not every situation we have in this guild is going to be cut and dry, or rather black and white. We're still in the process of renewing the guild, so there is a lot of room for grey areas. We need a captain who doesn't see every situation in black and white, otherwise the way the crew operates could very well be affected by this mentality. Just as well the captain of a guild is in essence the face of a guild. They have to be able to relate to members, joke with them, make light of themselves with them, essentially come down to their level at every turn. In recent events it has been shown that it's difficult for Greg to relate to certain situations or even make light of himself or let others do so. If a candidate can't even accept the possibility of being one of the (albeit jokingly) mascots of this guild, how can we expect him to want to be the face of the guild which in essence is the guild's mascot? Perhaps if Greg could learn to not take most every situation at face value and feigned an attempt at truly understanding the members and their intentions, the situation could be remedied.

Somnis and I have grown to know each other quite well, both on a guild related and personal level. She's generally pretty easy going and loves to hang out with the members and joke around with them, or even just stick around for interesting conversation in the chatrooms. I can say for sure that of all the candidates here, Somnis genuinely spends more time getting to know the guild members on a personal level. Hell, go look at the chatroom right now and you'll see just what I mean. She's always done her research on the members, and knows most any member's history within this guild past and present. She's a good crew member, and most of all good at mentioning the things we all may not want to mention, or even seem to absentmindedly pass over. In saying this, Somnis has always been rather blunt when it comes to giving her honest opinion. Nothing is wrong with that, in fact we need crew members who can be blunt with the members. That being said, her reputation seems to precede her quite often here as well. There's a lot to be said for allowing certain things to go, or simply ignoring certain situations. I think some times it's hard for Shay to simply let the sweat roll off her back so-to-speak, caring to instead outright finalize the matter at hand whatever the cost. However some times, the cost in the end can be rather grand.

If I had to pick one candidate I'd wish to see win, it would more than likely be Hikaro. In such a short time she's proven herself very capable as a crew member, and I'm impressed with her progress. Does she have experience as a guild captain? Certainly not, however neither do the other three candidates. It'll be a learning process for all of them as it has been for me currently, but I think she fits the mold of what a captain could and should be rather well. I think with a good crew behind her, she could do some good around here as long as she's able to balance her two RPC's and the guild as well.

I know Greg hasn't posted yet, and I'd still like him to when he gets the chance, but it's time for one final matter. Voting begins tomorrow, so it is essential that I have your replies to this by the end of the day today.

Do you understand and acknowledge the rules set forth on crew demotion/promotion, as set forth after the Haseo Incident, and do you swear to uphold them?

And also, as I have been contacted by some on matters regarding resignation from the race, please PM me if you do not wish to be eligible for voting, so that I can alter the ballot as required before voting begins. You should probably contact me if you do want to be included as well, so I know you haven't just not had time to contact me.

I, Gregar828, being of sound mind and body, formally acknowledge the rules set forth on crew demotion/promotion, as set forth after the Haseo Incident, and I do swear to uphold them.

Onto the previous question.

Luo1304: Luo is most definitely the strongest RPer in the guild (even beating cobra by a margin), and his ability to settle situations is second to none. I have always looked at luo as the example of a fantastic RPer and Moderator. His drawback is his inactivity bursts, which are infrequent, but can sometimes last for months at a time.

Hikaro_Rin: Hikaro is one of the most diligent people I have ever had the pleasure to work with. She is level headed, studious, and slow to anger. She is definitely one of the most important pieces of POTS, even if she doesn't get the recognition, like the T block in tetris. The only real drawback I can attribute is her lack of experience compared to other candidates.

iAkura-kun: Akura's passion for the guild is unrivaled, and his desire to see our systems perfected is something to admire. If we all had akura's mindset, every system would be complete and we'd be creating new ones we were only able to think of after the old ones had been fixed. His drawbacks are his overzealousness, which causes him to overestimate how much can be done at once, and his occasional stubbornness.

Somnis: Somnis has an indomitable will, and won't rest as long as something can be done for the guild. Her drawback are her stubbornness (Which isn't always a drawback), her occaisonal inactivity, and her quick-to-anger temper, which can sometimes lead to large fights.

I don't want to choose a candidate to endorse, I believe each candidate would be an excellent captain. But hinote said I have to, so if I am to lose, I suppose I would support Luo1304.

I have never been called a tetris block before. that's pretty interesting.

Anyways, of course I whole-heartedly swear to uphold them.

I, Somnis, being of sound mind and body, do formally acknowledge the terms and conditions in regards to the promotion of members to crew and vice-versa, as set forth after the Haseo Incident. That said, I do hereby agree to uphold them.

Luo:
Luo is my mentor. Let's get that one out of the way, shall we? I can say with complete confidence that he is the best roleplayer in the guild. He's the only Kage that has held the position since the birth of POTS, and that in and of itself is an impressive feat, as anyone who was here for Misa's reign as Kazekage will know. Luo has one of the most well-developed characters I've ever seen a person RP as, and that's saying a lot. I've been in more than my fair share of RP guilds of any genre, so I've seen 'em all. Part of the problem with autoranking characters is that they aren't allowed near as much time to develop as people, but there is no doubt in my mind that Luo Ushio has developed enough to the point where I would only be mildly surprised if I saw him walking down the street. And while he is a wonderful character, Luo is still very careful to give him flaws to make him human.
The only drawbacks I can possibly think of are his infrequent bouts of inactivity, and the opening of his own Bleach guild, though I am certain that Luo, of all people, can divide his time equally.
Luo's RPing is second to none. His dedication as a moderator is unquestionable. His creativity shows in his posts. He has been with POTS from its birth. I think that says plenty.

Akura:
What happened back there, man?
As far as I've always known Akura, he's always been an easy to get along with guy. He plays fair, and was a consistent RPer. He's always fair as a mod, and isn't afraid to bring someone else in when he needs help (something I need to learn to do.) He's always happy and upbeat, whether it's joking around with me and Shira, or taking the wrath of our darling Etsushi. But seriously, Akura. What the heck happened back there?
I've never see you fly off the handle at anyone, especially at that magnitude.
From what I've heard from some members, (and everyone in POTS knows I make it a point to get to know each member on a personal level) that may have caused permanent damage to your reputation as a crew member. And quite frankly, that's really sad to see, because now the recovery process from that situation is going to be a hassle.
You've always been a great guy, and always very nice. But I can clearly see several drawbacks.
1.) I've seen how many guilds you're a VC in. Are you sure you're going to have the proper amount of time for POTS?
2.) Will you be able to hold a stable, active RPC while being captain of POTS, knowing the amount of work you're about to take on?
3.) Now, I hate to do this, but I have to. What is up with the random hero worship you have for Jade and Hark? Are you really about to try to make Jade, who abandoned her village as Tsuchikage and became an S-rank missing-nin to hunt GENIN, as well as jumped ship and abandoned us for TUP, and Hark, who can barely manage to keep an active RPC for more than a couple of weeks, as well as being Captain of his own Naruto guild, be Vice Captains of the place that they helped abandon? Not to mention, that would be completely against the rules of crew promotion/demotion?
Look, I like you as a person. I really do. But your plan for the future of POTS has me worried, because I honestly don't believe it's what is good for the guild, and that is my biggest concern.

Hikaro:
I don't really know Hikaro. I won't lie. From what I have seen of her, she's a consistent RPer with a good amount of skill, she's a fair, helpful moderator, and she shows true dedication to POTS. And, even better, I have yet to see her even display a tiny sign of anger towards anyone, which is more than I can say for everyone else campaigning except for Luo.
The only drawback that I can see would be her timidness, if that's even a word. I like timidity better, but that's beside the point. As long as she is willing and able to put her foot down when situations require her to, I don't see that being too big of a problem. And even if it becomes a problem, that's why there are people like me in the crew.

Greg:
Greg has a heart.
Regardless of what anyone says about Greg, or what his reputation says about him, Greg is easily one of only people I have ever met who has a genuinely kind heart. Sometimes, it just get buried by his work.
That said, Greg's seriousness will be the death of him. A captain needs to be able to communicate with the members and crew on a personal level, pretending to have a sense of humor, being understanding, and an exemplary leader that people won't have any qualms with following.
But if there is one thing I can say overall, it's that there is not a single person more dedicated to this guild than Greg. He's another one who has been here since the beginning. Think of that. That's almost four years, if my math is correct. I admit that it might not be, but thats the least of my concerns.
Greg is dedicated, shows an appropriate skill level as an RPer, fairness as a moderator, and the ability to disregard nonsense when it's crunch time.

Typically, I would avoid answering this last question, but I seem to not have a choice. Thus, let the record show that I, Somnis, being of sometimes sound mind and body, would like to see Luo win the election, if I do not.

ALL HAIL QUEEN LUO.
