  A soft summer breeze swept across the silent clearing as Fruzan Duff stepped from the shadows of the forest. Her ebony lids fluttered briefly over pale lids as she stepped into the seemingly blinding light of the afternoon sun. She had been traveling for so long in the forest, in the shadows of the heavily leaved branches, she had almost forgotten just how bright true daylight was. As it was though, despite there being mushrooms, leaves, berries, and other things in the woods for Duff to eat, there was nowhere near enough fresh green grass for her liking. The small sea of green was a welcoming sight to the starry mare. Instantaneously after the fragile green blades touched her hooves she set to work eating.

To be completely honest, Matthius was enjoying his time away from his father. He loved the older stallion to death, but Hathi could be a bit...grating at time.
Shaking his blond mane to be rid of the angry thoughts, Matthius focused on the path in front of him: he was heading toward an old glen he knew from his colthood, a quiet place for him to think and eat and maybe catch an afternoon nap (which was also impossible with his father around).
It caught him up short to see someone else in his clearing. Blinking once or twice, Matthi reminded himself that it wasn't his clearing and that this mare had as much right to it as he did. Deciding that he might as well be social, Matthi continued all the way into the bright sunlight, his jingling jewels catching the sunlight and sparkling for it.
"'Lo there," Matthius greeted softly, not wanting to startle the...was she a Kalona? Matthius had heard about them, but never actually seen one--but he certainly had never seen a Soquili with horns before, nor a tail like that.
How interesting.
"Mind if I join you?" he questioned, showing more social grace than his father had ever been able to muster. She was quite pretty, now that he got closer, with white stripes decorating her back and tail like stars.
Matthi's tail grazed the ground as he eyed her horns again. Weren't Kalonas supposed to be mean?

A partial smile spread across the mares face as she continued to chew on the tender and crisp emerald blades, all she could muster if she intended to keep her food in her mouth. She raised her head and noticed the stallion making his way towards her. She knew the spiral horn rising from his forehead indicated that he at least in some part was a unicorn, but he didnt share the typical tail of their species, and the butterfly like wings were definitely not a part of the breed. To be honest, the only wings she had ever seen on a soquili were feathered ones, and although she knew her kind were supposed to have leathery bat like ones she had never heard of a soquili with butterfly wings.
A single swallow freed Duff of her inability to smile and she offered the seemingly friendly male a welcoming grin. He showed no hesitation as he approached, but she was sure at some point there would be questions about her features. There were always questions. On the other end though it would give her a chance to inquire about his own features.
"I do not mind by any means if you wish to accompany me. Or even if you dont and simply wish to be in the same area, that is well as well."

Matthius smiled back, glad that she wasn't attacking him--little victories, right? Besides, he tried not to judge a soquilli based off what species he or she was.
"Thanks," Matthius answered, leaning down to munch on a bit of grass. "I like your horns," he complimented honestly after he swallowed. He had never seen horns like that before (or horns at all if he was being honest) but he didn't find them to be nearly as frightening as he was imagining them.
Matthi's wings fluttered lightly as he studied her. She was smiling, which made her look partially terrifying and partially inviting. Curious.
"I'm Matthius," he added as an afterthought, a slight embarrassed smile coming to his face. "Sorry, I probably should've said that first, shouldn't I've?" He chuckled a little and shook his blond head, then continued on with the pleasantries.
"What's your name?"
