Hathi was rather tired, but he knew that in the middle of a strange forest wasn't a good place to sleep. He had just made a new friend by rescuing her from a big scary river, but they had parted ways for the time being, which left Hathi all alone again.
Hathi didn't like being alone.
His wings were fluttering lazily behind him, though the pace increased at every random noise: he felt very small, surrounded by all this giant trees, and if a bad Soquili appeared...
Forcefully pushing those thoughts away, Hathi tried to hold his head a little higher and stretch out his legs (unaware how silly this made him look) so he would seem bigger to anybody who was thinking about attacking him.
"I'm not afraid~" Hathi called, his voice sing-songing over the shadows of the twilight-lit trees. His voice didn't even echo back to him, but before he could keep talking to himself, he saw a flash of a pelt just up ahead, and his heartrate quickened, suddenly on edge, but he made himself keep walking.
Sure enough, there wasn't anything to be worried about, just a harmless little filly! Hathi grinned to himself and felt his tail fwish excitedly--not only was she not scary, but he could make a new friend!
"Hi?" Hathi said cautiously, approaching her slowly from her left flank, so as not to scare her into running away. Then he would have to chase her to apologize, and he was already sleepy...
"Are you lost too?" Hathi winced at the 'too' that had accidentally slipped out: he wasn't exactly lost, exactly...he just didn't know where he was or where his mama was. Totally two different things, and he could totally handle himself, especially in front of a filly.

Emille felt bad for always wandering around without her parents, but at the same time, she knew it was okay. Her parents had taught her from when she first got out of her basket how to navigate around where they were. There would be moss on the trees, or different types of 'markers' that could help her find her way back to them. Emille loved her family and everything, but her love of wanting to see more always made her love exploring.
Today, Emille made her way through a forest, making sure she looked at and memorized a landmark in her head every so often. So far, she's remembered a few different kind of flowers, and some funny looking moss on trees. It made her feel accomplished that she could tell where she was.
She was slightly startled when she heard a voice from her side. Emille looked back and saw that it was a colt! But he looked different.. He had wings on his back! They looked like pretty butterfly wings and Emille had a desire to know more about them. Before doing that however, she smiled at him and shook her head when the colt asked if she was lost. Using her muzzle, she motioned to the general direction to where her parents were.
Emille, however, did feel bad that the colt was apparently lost. She wanted to help, but was unsure of what she could actually do. Instead, she plucked a nearby flower and motioned for the colt to look. She put the flower at one spot, went back to get another, put it down again, and repeated the motion until she made a line. Even if they couldn't find the colts parents, at least he'd know where he had been!

Hathi followed her nod, then figured out that she probably meant her parents were over that way somewhere, and he hoped that meant they knew where she was.
"I'm glad you're not...lost?" Hathi tilted his head curiously as she began laying out flowers, seemingly very carefully in a straight line. His brow furrowed as he watched her, not understanding the relevance...oh!
"Hey, that's a great idea!" Hathi said, grinning brightly. The flowers were so carefully laid out there was no way nature could do it, especially when the colors were so bright against the forest backdrop. That way, Hathi realized, if he started going in circles, he could notice the flowers and stop.
"You're pretty smart," Hathi said admiringly, smiling curiously. He knew he never woulda thought of that, so for someone else to have...impressed the young colt.
"My name's Hathi. What's yours?" He asked, though he realized belatedly that she probably wouldn't want to answer him, since she hadn't answered his other question aloud. Hmm...she was kind of like his other friend, Koko, who couldn't speak. But at least Koko had his brother to talk for him...
Hathi frowned. "If you can't talk, can I just call you...um..." he thought for a long few minutes. "Flower?" He supplied lamely, a sheepish half-smile crossing his face. "I mean, I guess I could ask your mama or daddy, but I don't wanna bother them..." Hathi swished his tail.
"Or I could call you Filly, but I don't think that's as nice as Flower is, d'you? I mean, sorry, 'cause...sorry." He smiled sheepishly again; he was bad about asking questions to people who couldn't answer, but he would have to get better if he wanted to make friends with Flower.
He really hoped she didn't hate her new name.

Giddy inside as her messages were understood, Emille's smile grew wider. Sometimes, she wondered if it would just be better to speak, but that was something that Emille wasn't used to. Only her parents really heard her voice, but so far, with the people she met, no one had any problem with her staying quiet.
Emille beamed as she was called smart. Of course, she knew that her parents taught her everything she knew. The feeling of being able to have helped someone without speaking gave Emille a warm feeling inside. "Maybe this colt will never have to be lost again!"
She giggled as Hathi went on about her name. Maybe this time she would try to sound out her name, but as she looked around, there seemed to be nothing that would help her explain it. Instead, Emille decided she would just have another nickname. Using her mouth to pick up one of the flowers she had laid down earlier, Emille nodded, hopefully showing that the name 'flower' was a-okay with her.
Emille nuzzled Hathi on the neck as greeting after they both had a name for each other. The main thing Emille was thinking about was whether or not Hathi was lost. Emille pointed in the direction of her parents yet again and then pointed at Hathi. She stared at him with wide, curious eyes that were slightly scared, hoping that he wasn't really lost.

Hathi grinned widely as she picked up another flower, his wings beating happily.
"Yay, flower, Flower~" Hathi grinned, bouncing happily. He tilted his head slightly as she pointed again, letting his blue and white striped hair fall into his face as he followed her gaze.
"What's over there? Your parents?" he asked, looking back at her. "I don't know where they are...or where my parents are?" Hathi got excited and dashed past the filly, squinting through the forest leaves, but he didn't see anyone who looked even a little bit like Mama or Daddy.
"Those must be your parents, silly Flower," he said, smiling to hide his deflated excitement. "Do you wanna go visit 'em?" he asked, tilting his head at her again curiously.
"C'mon, we can go if you want~"

Emille smiled wide as she watched Hathi. She had seen other Flutters around, but it was her first time being so close to one, and so close to one that can fly quite well! Even if it was only a few inches off the floor, it was something that made Emille happy.
But when Emille heard Hathi talk about meeting her parents, she shook her head. It wasn't that she minded him meeting them, but more so... If Hathi was lost, she didn't want to get him into deeper trouble. Being lost was not fun, and since he didn't know his way back.
Looking around, she sought out different flowers. She found a blue one that she thought reminded her of her mother, another that was green for her father, and another that was a mix of the two colors representing herself. Emille looked closely at Hathi and looked around for flowers for him. A blue one for one of his parents, then a white one for another, and a white and blue one that would represent Hathi.
Emille motioned to the green and blue one and pointed to herself. She placed the two of her 'parent' flowers down near where she had placed hers and then pointed in the direction her parents were in. After that, she picked up the flower that represented Hathi and put the flower at his chest then down on the ground in front of him. The other two that represented his parents, she placed on the ground next to his.
She cocked her head to the side and smiled. Emille knew that if she couldn't help Hathi find his parents, she'd bring him back to hers, but... If she could help, Emille knew it would benefit Hathi more.
