Konami developing new Suikoden?

Voice actor Makoto Terada's blog reports he's contributing to a new game in Konami's series.

TOKYO--It appears Konami is working on a new installment in its Suikoden role-playing series. News of the development leaked Thursday in the online diary of veteran voice actor Makoto Terada, who mentioned clocking studio time for a Suikoden game.

"At noon, I recorded voices for a game named Suikoden (Konami). In the evening, I worked on an anime named Erementar Gerad, which will be starting in April," Terada wrote in his blog.

Terada, who currently works under the pseudonym Mugi Hito, is known for his voice contributions to anime like Grappler Baki, where he voiced the character Orochi Doppo. But he also lent his voice to the role of Sigma in Capcom's Rockman X4 and X6.

Suikoden IV, the latest in the long-standing franchise, was released for the PlayStation 2 on January 11 in the US. GameSpot will provide further information on any future Suikoden game as it becomes available.

Ugh.. Please no just tell me there won't be anymore voice acting..
Personally I think Suikoden 4 was destroyed by the voices.. I can't bring myself to play it anymore.

personaly i dont think it was the voices that hurt sui4 so much as the fact that they barly gave any of the characters to much personality and didn't tell you much about them

as for a sui5 blaugh it would be great if its true that means that they are starting work on it as soon as possiable and who knows maybe they can better capture what made 1 and 2 a success

If they are coming out with V, I hope that it has...

Characters and People from 1.2. and 3
Trinety Site from 3
Cool base from 4
Voices from 4
Plot from all

And finally all the species put together (Lizards, Humans, Ducks, Mantors, Kobolds, and Nay-Kobolds.) This actually brings up a good point here: Kobolds are related to DOGS not CATS Konami!!! scream Get it right!!!

Oh no... more voices... I wish they would switch to cel shading, though... I think it's the best way to have the benefits of 3d, but retain the charm of sprites.

Well, this has been highlighted on the Suikox forums too, but anyway...

It is possible that they've already started work on Suiko V, but as said by Blue Moon/SARSadmin, it could just be the fact that they may be working on radio dramas or something. Of course, this is not to get anyone's hopes down....just trying to point that out.

I want to see more of Hikusaak and Harmonia in the next installment, that's for sure! biggrin

But why would the guy say "for a game" then. I wouldn't think it to be false, especially since Konami already stated that the series will not end until they explain and show Pesmerga and Yuber's battle.

'S not really true. Konami's not said anything about the end of the series; Murayama himself was the one who hinted(prior to leaving Konami and the Suikoden series) at the Yuber/Pesmerga showdown and the consequences thereof. Without Murayama on the series, it's all up in the air as to when(or even if) the Suikoden series will end with any real conclusion.

Also, what Terada said can be a lil' bit hazy in meaning, as Blue Moon said on the Suiko-x forums. It's not specifically stated "to be used IN a game named Suikoden", just that it's for a game named Suikoden. He could be doing a commercial or a radio drama based on Suikoden.

As other people have stated elsewhere, I doubt that this is for a Suikoden V, if it is indeed a new game, since voice-overs are typically one of the last things done on a game. IV just came out; I wouldn't think they would be that far along in a V, if there is to be one at all. It could be another spin-off, a la Suikogaiden.

Thus the reason I put a queston mark at the end of "Suikoden V confirmed"
