Just wondering what kind of plans everyone has for the 4th? And if you are from another country please share about your own Independence day.(that is if you have one for your country)
It will be my Birthday so we will have a BBQ and then we will go watch some fireworks. I will start inviting people from church after service and some of my other friends.

O.O I was suppose to be born July 4th. Sadly it was too hot and I didn't want to come out. I go to my aunt and uncle's lakehouse and spend a weekend there. We watch the fireworks by boat. Then I buy stuff with early birthday money because I'm normally at church camp on my birthday.

I cooked and ate yummy cheeseburgers, with some chips and french onion dip on the side. And for dessert I had cupcakes with patriotically colored frosting. The grass is so dry in this area that fireworks have been banned, since there is a high chance for brush fires.

So no fireworks this year. crying

Hopefully next year will be better!

We have Bonfire Day. Celebration rituals are more or less the same: get drunk and blow stuff up/light stuff on fire to show how much you love your country.

Growing up we had the 14th of July (which is today! too bad I'm on the wrong side of the Channel!), Bastille Day...which also involves getting drunk and blowing things up.

The lesson we learn here? Getting plastered and making things go boom is an international sign of patriotism when performed on the correct day of the year. wink
