As some of you may know, I aspire to be a VA.

My uncle says he knows four companies willing to listen to a demo tape that I put together. But I'm a little lost as to what to put on said tape.

So what you guys can do for me is list me some ideas of things to try or some recording programs to get. I'll have a look at them, and if any seem promising, I'll give 'am a shot. I'll probably post some samples here to get your guys' opinions on how I sound and stuff. I'd appreciate any feedback you guys would give me. :'D

I use Audacity to record stuff. It's free, pretty basic, and easy to get a handle on.

I'd suggest some Robin Williams roles. Genie would probably be a really good one to demonstrate enunciation and emotion; the scenes from Mrs Doubtfire where he does a wide range of voices in a short amount of time (the interview with his court liaison and the makeover into a chick) could also be good showcases.
