If you had a never-ending supply of money and could buy any sort of home you wanted what kind of home would you have? Would it be small and cozy or big and sparse or something else entirely? How would you furnish it?

I used to draw out elaborate floor plans for my dream home when I was a kid. They were all completely ridiculous and ended up looking like hotels. Now however I'm down to a single room.
I don't care what the rest of the house looks like as long as I have one two-story room with floor to ceiling bookshelves full of books from all over the world. It would have those wheeled ladders so you could reach the top shelves and a stairway leading up to a balcony type walkway around the second story. Of course there would be wheeled ladders up there too. One wall would have a huge fireplace with a plush rug in front of it and there would be oversized, overstuffed dark leather chairs around the room. And a window seat with lots of pillows and a wispy curtain I don't care if it doesn't match the style of the rest of the room, I want my window seat.

Well if I had unlimited money, a home would be way down on my list. I'd get one, sure. But first there's student loans and in-law loans to pay off. Then there's... After living in grinding poverty for this long, I'd just be unbelievably irresponsibly lavish in how I threw my money around. I'd treat myself until I was fat and happy. Boozing it up and steak for dinner, every night, delivered on a silver effing platter... But soon I'd want to do that from a house.
Honestly...I think that I'd set up my house a lot like the guild is set up. I'd want a public area, in the main downstairs. I think that would be fun, especially to come down and meet with people who were regulars. I'd probably try to "import" my favorite people. Put them up in great houses nearby, with this limitless cash of mine and have them come by every day or so and talk with/entertain me. Not just in function would it look like the guild, but also decorum and staff. Of course I'd have live-in cooks, valets, manservants, and butlers... Though maybe just cooks and maids that also buttle, as well.
As for the books, I like that idea, too. I think that I'll edit that into the description of the main forum, since you're not even the first person that told me that they see the guild as a library, and it certainly fits, too.

Probably a medium sized partially penthouse home somewhere in a low populated area somewhere far from the city pollution and noise... Two floors and one or two hidden basements that only I know the entrance to.. Also a big lawn and a mini forest in the back to relax in. Some walls too to keep out trespassers and annoying busybodies.

Matasoga your idea of importing people is basically why all my childhood dream homes ended up looking like hotels. I just kept adding floors for all the people I wanted to live near me.
I suppose I'd better have a bathroom in my house too so maybe I'll have to go with a two room house. I'd want a big old-fashioned claw foot tub in one corner and a separate shower in another corner. Both should be large enough for two and I'd need a a cabinet of some sort to hold all the candles/bubbles/oils/salts that every decent bathroom should have. I'd need a table near the bath that I could set my book on also.

I'd build my zombie-proof house, with enough room for my family and friends. It would have 7-foot cinderblock walls which would shoot up to 15-feet in the event of the zombie apocalypse. It would be completely solar-powered, have a paddock with sheep, cows, goats, pigs, and horses, an orchard, and an extensive vegetable garden. It would also have an extensive armoury,

I'd be in trouble if there were ever a zombie apocalypse, all I'd be able to do is barricade myself in my home and read while the world outside my walls fell apart and I slowly starved to death.
Perhaps a two room house isn't very sensible but those are the only two rooms that I've put any thought into, besides the bedroom.

Oh, in the floor plan, there are twelve bed & bathrooms set up for all twelve Disciples. Since only Sara and I are closer to each other than any existing representation of Matasoga and Tinuviel, we'd probably share the master bedroom. Given that there are no less than 3 Apostles that I would be rather surprised to ever see again, that leaves room for a bit of remodeling. Everyone else would either live in a nearby apartment of the tiny rooms of the servant's quarters on-site. Then again, if we only gave quarters to the active members with enough posts to be listed, we could probably get by with just what we have. :-/
I haven't factored in the sceening room, yet, but that will be coming, later.

That sounds like a lovely arrangement. It's sad that you have room for remodeling though this is such a nice guild. I do believe that you have replaced what I had long considered to be my home guild.

Ah, they're an affiliate. These things happen, and I don't want you to forget about them entirely, but these things happen. I have tried to cultivate a not-dissimilar atmosphere of intellect and maturity here, so that which appeals to a member of one may well appeal to a member of the other.

Id technically want a 3 floorhouse, but only because I want one room on the very top with windows on every wall, one being a window seat. That would be my 'office', for my art and internet.
The second floor I would like to have 3-4 bedrooms, one for my fiance and me, one or two for our children and a 4th for guests.
Each floor would probably have a bathroom in it, plus the master bedrooms bathroom.
The 1st floor would have a huge porch for many seats and a porch swing, so I could enjoy coffee on said porch. The inside would have a large living room and kitchen, because we're both cooks and so will our kids. Dining rooms are no longer really used, but I'd want one for family gatherings. There will be one specially made room, fiance's drum room. It would be specially built to be sound proof from outside the room.
Knowing me Id probably add a pet room or something because we both want alot of pets and we'd want them to have a place besides the huge front and back yard.
Seeing all this luckily I want a semi country living, not too far from civilization our kids couldnt go to their friends easily, but not so close we'd worry about them getting hit right outside our door.

Porches make me think of lemonade and crickets and hot summer breezes. It's video games here that keep me awake, it would be nice to have a sound proof room so I didn't have to listen to all the swearing and gunshots and more swearing.

I never put much thought into where I would build my dream home. I don't think I'd put it anywhere where great A/C was necessary though. I'd probably stay here and just move to a slightly more temperate area.

Well I like my country but the heat can be hard. But thats what the porch and some good ice tea is for! XD A part of me wants to travel, but im pretty sure ill want to settle down in my home state.

I would stay in my home state as well, I am very close to my family and they all live here. I wouldn't want to go too far from them. We'd have to have all the family reunions at someone else's house though since I'd only have the two rooms.

If money was no object, I'd simply fly them to whereever I was for family reunions. And the only family member I'd have living with me is my mum, and she'd have her bedroom and everything at the other end of the house to me.

At this particular point in my life I don't think I would want any of my family to live with me, nearby would be nice but not in the same house. I'd have to have a bunch of cottages somewhere on the property for family members to stay in.

The only way I could live in a spacious house is if I lived with a bunch of people! I don't mind having a lot of property, a large yard is ideal for all my dogs. Yes, I will be 50, all alone and have 50 dogs xD If I lived in a huge house all alone, I'd get lonely and scare myself and imagine monsters or ghosts or something xD Since it'd be so empty! But if I had a mansion and all my friends lived there to take up most of the emptiness, I'd be okay with it.~ If I lived all on my own, I'd want a moderate house, large living-room if I could. And I'd love an actual back yard. That's not concrete. Me and my three rottweiler babies and Klarissa, if she's there, would pile up on the freakishly large bed with feather comforters and mattress. Maybe feather pillows. I have some of those already, their not as great as you think. I'm not sure how the rest of the house would be furnished... There would be a lot of stuffed animals...Everything would probably be pretty plush. Since having this couch and god knows what else other snuggly, cute things would be an aspiration of mine. And Klarissa would probably snicker and pet my head and tell me that it was adorable that I was thirty and snuggling a stuffed elephant on a couch shaped like a puppy. And the rottweilers? Well, they wouldn't care. As long as they got lots of lovin's.

I would have a one-story house that sprawled over a patch of land that was 100 or so acres. I don't want anyone to sneak up on me. >.> I'd have a huge porch, screened in so that the bugs couldn't get to me. Animals would be everywhere, sort of like my own personal petting zoo. There would be rooms both large and small, to accommodate a crowd or a more intimate get together. I'd have rooms just for gaming, ones for watching movies, ones for talking with friends, a massive kitchen. Furnishings would be focusing on comfort first, and then ascetic.

Let's see. Normal sized two floor house with at least 10 rooms. One being my library. One being for my collection of melee weapons (once I start one). Two bathrooms. A couple guest bedrooms. A classical entertainment parlor with classic pinball and arcade machines. (my dad collects them and we have 3. We used to have 5 bt that's another story) along with a more modern laboratory for my science experiments. My bed would be a tank. My dad actually dreamed that up a few years ago and everyone had these crazy rooms. My room was filled wih sand and my bed was a tank! I'd take the bed but the sand would destroy my ps2. That's what I have for now.

I am not in need of the larger sized houses since it would just be myself.
So my dream home would be a nice two bedroom home, for in case I do have a guest. A nice size kitchen with well working appliances. Plenty of space in the front and back yard for gardening. Nothing fancy, just enough for myself and a pet or two.

Hm..It would be a two story home with close to no windows and no back door. The front door would be down a small hall way. That way I would feel safe. It would have a beautiful wooden stair case, and Victorian styled furniture. There would be a balcony overlooking preferably a haunted cliff, one of the sort that distraught widows would throw themselves off of. I would want it to look like it was from a different century.
I'd want a creepy elderly butler whom would look as if he had been there since the place was built. A very grandmotherly cook, and a maid. I'd want portraits and priceless artworks hanging on the walls. An unbelievable amount of expensive jewelry and Victorian styled clothing.
