Saber Talawyrm Assuming that any other people in the house are capable of getting themselves out safely, what items would you take with you if your house were burning? You can either just list the items or take a page from this site, gather the items together and take a picture of them.

Saber Talawyrm
I would like to gather the items together and take a picture but I don't have time at the moment and even if I did, my camera is out of batteries so for now just a list.
Under the assumption that my children were able to get themselves out I would take:
Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner (the turtles) My photo album/discs/camera because my pictures are irreplaceable The photo of me and my Grampa from above the kitchen sink The book of poetry my Gramma gave me because she wrote a poem for me on the inside cover The stuffed monkey I have had since I was a baby, the stuffed bunny my Gramma and Grampa gave me when I was in the hospital, and the stuffed turtle from Razz Two of the elephants from my figurine collection, the Avon perfume bottle from my great-grandmother and the one from my Grampa Sonja, she's been in the family for three generations now My copy of the photo slide-show that was played during my Grampa's funeral A ribbon The bag that was sent to me by a friend while he was stationed in Saudi Arabia because it should be big enough to hold all of that stuff, or most of it anyhow The safe, it has important documents in it and also has the outfits worn by my children on the day they came home from the hospital and even what I wore the day my mom brought me home (actually, now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure it's fire-proof so I wouldn't need to bring it.) My purse, laptop, and cell, they are all full of more pictures I wouldn't want to lose

Ohhh... I'll take a picture later smilies/icon_razz.gif
Snuggles and Rachel (unless they were already outside) My handbag (has a lot of my precious needed stuff in it) My many notebooks (Journals and poetry) The family photographs My signed copy of Good Omens and Stardust The box and bag with all my letters in it My mother's school uniform The hard-drive with all our photos on it. My doll Mid-wife Kate, my rabbit pillow and my teddy bears Bridget and Dancing Bear. Probably more?
TRANSANIMATION
My books. My drawings. My notebooks. Mmm. Yep. That's it. Oh and the photo albums. Can't forget those. smilies/icon_heart.gif

I can't imagine anyone just leaving the photos really...

Saber Talawyrm I can't either. The photos are the first thing I'd grab after the pets.
Lady-Sanctuary
Well I think I'd go for my journals first, but I'm not sure... So hard!

Here's an interesting question that you might want to ask along side the OP... Or maybe start a different thread for. You're in a building that's on fire. One one side of you there is a box of originals of priceless artwork. All of the classics on their original canvases are in there. We're talking timeless, priceless works of art. The Mona Lisa, Starry Night and other works on their level of both skill and fame. On the other side of you is a box of kittens or puppies (whichever you like better). Which do you save? Does your answer change if it's between the aforementioned art and a human baby? It's an interesting question, to be sure.
Lady-Sanctuary
I would always save the kittens or the baby...

-The cats and the dog. -Diego (my stuffed bat). and a stuffed lamb a friend had given me. -My jewelry. -A dried rose a friend had given me. -My box of memories. -The family bible, and all the important family documents inside of it. -The porcelain dolls my grandma gave me when she died. -The porcelain and glass angels. -My grandma's jewelry. -The quilt my sister had hand sewn for me. -My baby blanket. -My sketchbook. -The family photo album. -My journal, and the book I wrote to leave to my best friend in the event of my death.

Seeing as I'm an extreme pyro-phobe, I would be hyper-venalating. I would be unable to save myself, much less anything else. But if I could, I would save the doll that my mother gave me when i was little. It was the last gift she ever gave me, and so it is more precious than anything else to me.

I'd be more preoccupied with saving myself, to be honest. I know it's all very well and good saying "oh, I'd grab my photo albums from the cupboard in the lounge!" but how many idiots burn to death because they were trying to save something? If it's not an animal in a cage, I'd have to leave it to fend for itself, I'm sorry. The only thing I would save would be Nixon if he hadn't died a few months back.
Saber Talawyrm I think most people would honestly just save themselves but if you had the time to safely save a few things, it's interesting to see what you'd want to save.
I suppose mine has changed though. I'd still save Sonja and the ribbon and a couple of photos I have with me and I'd grab my purse and computer bag.
SakuraTheBlueTiger I'd grab my wallet, phone, plastic envelope with important documents, portable HD and cat <3
Saber Talawyrm
What's a portable HD? ^^;

Ephynas Puggle
I would save the people! If my family was okay . . .then . . .I don't think I'd save anything other than myself. The laptops perhaps? If my family was safe I'm pretty sure the only thing running through my mind would be, "Get out!"
Saber Talawyrm
I think in all honesty that is probably the only thing that would run through most people's head. All wishful thinkings and supposings aside I would definitely grab my phone but considering it's usually either on me or nearby it wouldn't be going out of my way at all to save it.
Ephynas Puggle
If there was something I wanted to save . . . I'd save it. I would risk getting crispy fried. . . but I don't really value anything materialistic to that degree. I don't have a cell phone . .. it's notl ike I can carry the desktop out with me- at least it would be foolish for me to try. The most important things to me are my family and my work, and since most of my writings and drawings are on paper, they were probably the first thing to be consumed by the inferno.

True, but I think a lot of people would. You seem to be an exception to a lot of rules though and I'm pretty sure you haven't posted yet, or at least not in response to the OP.
Ephynas Puggle
You make me feel bad about being a spazz osmetimes : P Though I have realized that when it really comes down to it, if the situation is dire, the more calm I am on the outside . . . Though I'm still proned to squeel and fall down the stairs xDD

Hmm...If my home were to catch on fire..
Most likely I would take the quilt my grandmother stitched when I turned thirteen. My elephant and my lamb stuffies I couldn't leave behind. The sewing machine my mother gave me when I loved out, it has been in our family for four generations.

Aside from the obvious (my pug joker and some clothes) I'd save my ps2 and games and my DS. If I can find it, the knife I bought in Alaska. Hopefully I could get in my basement to save my wii and games. Most obscurely I'd save my collection of Nintendo power. I have at least 20 of them. Edit: if possible I'd save my ms PAC man machine or my asteroids machine. Full cabinet old arcade machines.
