Saber Talawyrm Gaia has a new Alchemy feature (for your convenience I linked it but it's also under the Shops tab), what are your thoughts? Which items are you looking forward to seeing and which do you plan to make? Have you found any of the crafting items in the Daily Chance carts/Golden Magical Giftboxes/Pink Links yet? Has anyone heard of any other ways to get the items? Here is a link to the free starter kit in case you didn't see it/don't read announcements. Also, there are achievements to be had. So far there is Alchemy Level 1 and Alchemy Level 2 (10 exp. points are needed to level up to level 2) which is received when you reach level 1 and level 2, obviously. I am assuming that there will be other achievements for reaching other levels as well. A guide, it's currently being set up but Winter Hue makes guides for all the RIGs as they come out and they are always wonderfully done. In the meantime, here is a guide that at least lists the items needed to make a number of the items. A note about failing: you don't lose the items needed to craft the recipe, you only lose the gold. That is nice to know since some of the recipes require some pretty pricey items to craft them. Edit: I thought I would include a link to the official feedback thread. Edit: Aug. 31 There is now a guild thread where you can list any items you may need help getting.

I think this might be kind of fun as long as it isn't ridiculously difficult to obtain the items needed to craft things. Some difficulty is understandable and expected but I don't want to have to spend millions to get something only to have it fail. I'm a bit leery about the fail rates, I'm curious to know what they are before I decide if I'll be using the system much. I have not been lucky enough to find any of the craft items yet so I've only made the belt that comes with the starter kit. I am excited to see the demon wings though.
Saber Talawyrm
I was asked to make a note of the fact that so many items that used to be cheap and common are quickly becoming inflated/running out but that a few of them are craftable themselves and may eventually drop in price again as the items needed to make them become available/more prolific.
So you may want to buy some of them before they run out but others you'd probably be better off just waiting.
Lady-Sanctuary
I think it's just another gold sink. But I shall look into for it seems like it could be fun! smilies/icon_biggrin.gif

Saber Talawyrm
I think it is as well but at least it seems to be a fun one. Hopefully it will make the price drop on some of the rare items too.
Lady-Sanctuary
Yeah, but that will take time. First all the compoinant items will raise in price.
Saber Talawyrm
Yeah, that part sucks. I spent quite a lot on one of them last night but I'm glad it was last night and not today since the price has gone up to over 300k.
Lady-Sanctuary
Yeah! It must be really annoying if you just want it as an item smilies/icon_sad.gif
Saber Talawyrm
Yeah, it must be. ): It's annoying if you just want it as a component too. smilies/icon_3nodding.gif

Shanderaa
Good idea, but kind of a crappy execution as of right now. On one hand all the alchemy exclusives look awesome and the idea of manufacturing rare RIG items without the whole buying RIGs thing is a dream come true. But a common feature of a lot of the recipes so far? RIG items as ingredients. Ugh. Sure there are recipes for the RIGS now but I'm personally getting sick of all these damned luck based missions.
So basically at first I was like =D but then I was like >=/.
Saber Talawyrm
Yeah, I'm hoping that thing will even out a bit once more of the crafting items become available. I think it's a bit silly that they rolled it out before some of the items needed to make even level one formulas are available.
Matasoga
That is a big annoyance. I'm waiting for them to start falling out of the daily chance, but so far nothing. And the idea of rare chance items as components for level one formulas, especially, was a very dumb idea.

Saber Talawyrm
I agree, the level one formulas should have used more common ingredients. It's a bit poorly thought out I think and I've seen a lot of complaints about that in particular.
Anei Nushi
Agreed. It's a huge step backwards to make the beginner ones have rare components. Beginner formulas should contain common items like bugs, paper, flowers and cheap clothes. Then you should gradually build up to rare things.
Saber Talawyrm
That would have made way more sense than the way have it now.
Ledzie_Campbell
I completely agree with Anei Nushi. I was so thrilled to see the Alchemy shop because I assumed that they were finally going to give us something else to do with our trash and commons. There was even a tiny part of me that thought 'Yay, now I can use up some of the horns from Faunzy that have been cluttering up my inventory~.' At first glance, I thought the components were from zOMG! which I thought was alright. Once I realized that they weren't, I was annoyed on so many levels. It certainly doesn't help that no one can find said components.

Matasoga
It may not sound it, but I do mean it sincerely when I say b***h loud, b***h now, and b***h often, and do it in the SF forum. We have helped to illuminate stupid ideas in the past and as a result they were often fixed. Let your dissatisfaction show, because Gaia sees that as $ that they're losing... And they sure do hate that.
Saber Talawyrm
I edited the first post to include a link to the official feedback thread. I haven't had a chance to look it over yet but hopefully they are looking at some of the availability issues with the alchemy items.
Anei Nushi
I know! I thought they had just put in new zOMG items and it was going to be a breeze because my friend owns a game items store and she could set me up with what I needed. And then I figured out they weren't game items and I was pissed.

Lady-Sanctuary
Where are you meant to get the special items? Giftboxes? Also might it be an idea to set up an alchemy wishlist thing? Cause I know Josh wanted some papers which I would have just sold otherwise.
Saber Talawyrm
Yes, some of them are in giftboxes, some are given out through the "Thank you for not using adblock ad," some zOMG items, RIG items, and some gold shop items.
That's actually a good idea. Then people will be able to see what everyone needs. Do you want to make it since it was your idea? Or I can, either way if it needs updating and you weren't able to for awhile, I'd be able to do that. (:
Lady-Sanctuary
You make it, you're better at that sort of stuff than me, I'm sure smilies/icon_smile.gif And you can mantain it better! smilies/icon_3nodding.gif
Saber Talawyrm
Alright then. I'll give you credit for the idea in the first post. ^_^

You're welcome, and it's done.

I saw! It looks great smilies/icon_3nodding.gif
Saber Talawyrm
Thanks. ^_^ I already have edited it four or five times. ^^;
And to everyone, there is a link to the Alchemy Wishlist Thread in the first post of this thread as well now.

I just started playing around with the Alchemy feature. I'm at level 2 so far, and I don't see myself going much further with it unless there's an item I particularly want. It's just too expensive for me. I very much like the idea of alchemy, but the execution is terrible.

You can get to level 3 without spending a whole lot... but then at that point it becomes borderline impossible unless you have millions to blow on it. A system the alchemy team seems to believe doesn't warrant any fixes after nearly a year of being constantly told otherwise! emotion_awesome

I do the Daily Chance every single day, and I have gotten 2 alchemy components. Ever. One toggle and one fabric swatch. That's it. Unless you count the two billion 4th Amigo Lucki pants and that Ocean Summer Top, which, frankly, I don't. I could buy those in a gold shop if I needed to, so why the hell are they in Daily Chance so often? gonk

Though for non-zOMG players it's significantly harder. Even then thats only good to reach level 3, after that they don't give any exp. And the devs seem to see nothing wrong with the early levels being so difficult. We're just not hardcore enough lol! emotion_awesome emotion_awesome emotion_donotwant

I made 3 things with that piece of crap feature. I made a thing that turns your legs into a drill. I spent 13k on materials and it was only worth 1k! I hate alchemy. Full metal alchemist on the other hand is freaking amazing.

Seems appropriate in this case

Alchemy has broken me three or four times now. I think unless I get an extreme stroke of luck, I'm just going to be poor for a little while. Thank goodness my avatar has plenty of pretties to be in.
