Darkness Imp Invasion
Tick tock… tick tick tock… skritch scratch.
Mystic thought he was going insane. Truly, and utterly insane. He had been awake for days. Normally, he was asleep for days at a time. He didn't appreciate the change of pace, especially since he had recently obtained a bit more mastery of his gifts as a dreamwalker.
How cruel of fate to deny him sleep now that he had more than a simple inkling of what to do within the Dream Realm.
He flopped down into his bed and stared up at the painted sky on his ceiling. Go to sleep go to sleep go to sleep go to sleep go to sleep...
His mantra was a failure, it seemed. He simply laid there, unmoving until he couldn't stand it any longer. He could hear every ticking of every clock in the house. Every creak. Every tiny little noise in the swamp seemed to echo inside his head in a deafening manner.
'Ughh!' he groaned as he threw one of his pillows out of sheer frustration.
"Screeee!" came a muffled shriek as the pillow impacted with something.
Mystic sat up straight in his bed with wide eyes. That was an actual noise, and it was much too loud to be a rodent of some sort. Carefully, he crawled along the edge of his bed and peeked over the side to where his pillow lay upon the floor. His brow furrowed in confusion. The pillow was moving, and something was wriggling underneath in an attempt to escape.
He lifted the pillow carefully and stared at the strange, inky creature that gazed up at him with wide, blank eyes. It chittered in protest and flailed its little arms as though accusing it of some sort of harsh act of violence. It pointed accusingly at the pillow and huffed as it tapped one foot on the floor.
'My apologies,' Mystic told the little creature, 'I didn't mean to cause you harm.'
It grumped and turned its back, head held high as though snubbing his apology.
What is this creature? It was quite unlike anything else he had ever encountered. His head tilted to the side with a look of curiosity as he glanced away from the small creature and realized he was being stared at by dozens of blank-white, beady eyes. They all clung to the shadows in the corners and seemed to be slowly overrunning the walls.
'Oh my,' he said to himself.
This seemed familiar to him. He wasn't sure what name to call them, but they appeared to be very much creatures of darkness. He just wasn't certain what they were precisely.
The offended imp from before made a noise to get his attention while, hopping up and down in an irritated manner. It stopped when Mystic's eyes once more fell upon him. The little beast opened its mouth wide and pointed inside while patting its stomach.
'You're... hungry?'
A chorus of happy chirps filled his room.

Rules
Rules of the Invasion
- Go create yourself an RP thread in the guild. Please label all threads with the [event] prefix. You can title your thread whatever you like. Just make sure they're in the RP sub-forum of the SF guild.
Your location is wherever you please; ideally it would be wherever it is your character would be around 11:00pm at night.
A minimum of 1 and a maximum of 3 imps can show up in your initial post, but they can multiply depending upon your number draws below in subsequent posts.
To participate in the event, draw a number from 1 to 3 when you post. 1 = Nothing. 2 = Your imp(s) multiply times two. 3 = Your imp breaks or destroys something.
Bonus: Add a 4th number with something of your own making. Just for grins. Whatever you like. Not a requirement, but it could be fun.
This event is intended to run much like the Halloween Haunted House event from 2010.
You're required to post a minimum of 6 times in your thread. After that point, you can adopt 1 darkness imp shown below. Write more to get more imps!
Lurkers are welcome to join in on the event.
This ending of this event will be posted on June 3rd. You're welcome to finish up your thread after that point, but no new event threads can be created after that date.
WARNING: IF YOU SQUISH ONE ICLY, THE IMP WILL AUTOMATICALLY SPLIT INTO TWO REGARDLESS OF YOUR NUMBER DRAW. 8D
Any questions? Just ask!
About The Imps
The Darkness Imps
- These guys are supposed to look all sorts of strange and scribbly like wet ink with opaque, solid white eyes that are luminous in the dark. They can be described in your posts differently from what I sketched here. These are just examples. They are relatively small. The largest they would be is the size of a small house cat. The smallest would be mouse-sized. They also make strange, shrill, noises. They chirp, growl, squeak, chitter, and carry on in a strange gibberish language.
The imps will be certed after the closing of the event, and a form will be provided for all necessary info. Further information on claiming your imp will be provided the day the event formally closes.
