[B]arracks

The barracks building is truly huge, for it needs to house several hundred squad members, and the occasional handful of guests. It is located near the center of the squad grounds where all squad members are housed. The building is fronted with a large, old set of double doors which open into a dual area devoted to reception and gathering. It has furnished areas on both sides of the room with a clear walkway to a plain counter. There's always at least one squad member here-whether socializing or relaxing in a chair or manning the help counter-during daylight hours. At night the doors are locked and everyone retires to bed.
Part of the building is taken up by a large, capable mess hall and a kitchen in which the squad members themselves rotate in shifts in order to cook all their meals. There is also a conference hall where major events and meetings are held. Primarily the mess hall is used for squad affairs, however.
There are an east and a west wing of the building; the east is exclusively the Women's Dorm, while the west is the Men's. There are just over six hundred members of the squad and they are all numerically ranked in ascending order via strength, leadership, and jurisdiction, from 1 to 610. Since the first floor is devoted to the common areas, only the first ten seats bunk there. Seats 11-110 bunk on the second floor, seats 111-210 on the third, seats 211-310 on the fourth, seats 311-410 on the fifth, seats 411-510 on the sixth, and seats 511-610 on the seventh.

Rooms:
All squad members have their own bedroom to themselves. With the exception of the top ten seated members, they may choose their room, provided it is on their floor and in their wing.

Room #1: Captain Sazagishi Kuroyanagi
Saza did a huge amount of refurbishing on her suite. Originally it held a small sitting area to greet guests in, a master bedroom, three closets, two bathrooms, a small kitchenette and a guest room. She immediately converted the master closet into a walk-in booze storage space and turned the spacious sitting area into a large open area with multiple uses, including socializing, eating, teaching, and meditating. One wall is constructed of wide glass panels that slide on a runner and open outward to the walkway and stone garden beyond.
The kitchenette rarely is used because Saza is most proficient at making her favorite foods and party dishes. Her bedroom houses a Japanese futon/bedroll which she stores during daylight hours in the hall closet. One wall has a cluster of framed pictures of important friends, and an entire hunk of it includes all current and past squad members. The biggest frames go to her very closest friends. The very largest, however, is a sketch artist's painted rendering of her mother, which was made for her descriptions of the woman. Both bathrooms have a simple dual tub and shower set up, a toilet, and a sink with a mirror.
