I have a big container of hummus (dip made with chickpeas) that is a tiny bit past the expiration date. I was wondering if that would be okay to toss in my compost bin? I have some worms in there, and I'm not sure if any of the salt or spices in the dip would hurt them. Google is not being terribly helpful. D; (Also I imagine it would probably smell like death, but I'm okay with that part. Just want to protect the worms. lol )

I might suggest googling each potentially-iffy ingredient, you'll probably be able to find info on each of them. Combining them into a paste shouldn't make a difference smile

Alright, thanks. heart I guess I'm not going to add it because it does contain some salt. Don't want to risk it! Haha. xd

It's perfectly safe to compost it- I've tossed expired hummas before.

My rule of thumb is if its organic material you can compost it.

I'd do it, I even compost things that are typically on the "iffy" list like dairy cause, wtf it breaks down. I've not had any problems yet.
