Hello everyone! This isn't guild business per say but I suppose it COULD BE. I'm making this thread with the explicit intent of getting your opinion on this idea of mine that I'm quite fond of simply because it's just so darned useful for Mewtwo to sneak around with. The idea is that he can psychically trick the human (and if necessary Pokemon) minds of anyone who can be so affected by his powers into thinking that he looks (and feels if handshaking is made) like a human. I don't consider it outside the realms of the possible and this idea WAS approved by one of our dearly missed heads of state. Just the same as before this would take a LOT of concentration and anyone not affected by psychic powers (dark types, ghost types, a few psychics, and some few humans) would see straight through his disguise and be able to rat him out if they so chose. I know full well that he can't do this in any canon material but he CAN obliterate people's memories of himself so this isn't TOO far a step in my opinion.

Please DO NOT MISTAKE this as an ability similar to the Lati's where they can full well transform into humans. This is NOT the same thing. He would only be able to make himself LOOK AND FEEL like a regular human if he were CONCENTRATING on doing so. So that means if someone were to walk behind him while he was pulling this hat trick off and they stumbled over his tail then they would definitely stumble over his tail. They might not SEE his tail but if they stepped on it then it could screw up his concentration or cause that person to shoot him some weird looks. Pokedexs, being machines and having no minds, wouldn't be fooled for a second but since he's not SUPPOSED to be in the 'dex (at least that's what I get from the anime and the few bits of the manga that I've seen) it wouldn't really do much more than say something about an "unknown life form."

I don't think Pokedexs can take pictures but if I'm wrong tell me. If someone's 'dex suddenly starting pinging like that (and it really only seems to do that on the command of a human or if it's set on some kind of interactive tutorial thing like Ash's original one seemed to be in the first episode) and it was responding to a human I'd like to think most people would think their stuff is just acting screwy.

So the pros to Mewtwo to have this little trick are: fooling the human mind into thinking he's another human, allowing him to move about unmolested by Trainers

The Cons to him having this trick are: He has to concentrate to keep this charade up and he WILL get fatigued from it, if someone hits his tail then it's just that, they have hit a tail, if someone touches him and he's not concentrating on "feel like a human feels" then they're GOING to feel fur and the jig's up unless mind-wiping happens

So what do you think guys? Can he have it or am I stuck with my mind-wipes?

I wouldn't compare Mewtwo to Zoroark.

Zoroark is THE Illusion pokemon, while Mewtwo is THE Psychic pokemon.

Like Celebi is the Time Travel pokemon, for another example. I certainly hope no Exeggutor start jumping through time just because they're a psychic/grass type too.

ANYWAY, as for a human disguise the way you've described it? I say go for it, and then you'll be able to play Mewtwo more as a public character.

It's passable. Psy-power involves the mind, so I wouldn't be surprised if he used his power to mess with what people see by changing a couple of receptors in their brain. We may see, but it's the brain that processes the images. So if he tampers with those with his psy-power, even though he hasn't changed at all, he'd still trick people into thinking he's something else. It's not on par with the Illusion Pokemon's ability to trick even machines, but it goes a pretty long way.

I think the only ones that would successfully be unaffected would be other Psy-types, Dark-types, Bug-types and Ghost-types. Pokemon with Odor Sleuth or Mind Reader might be unaffected because they're not using their eyes to get the information, but Mind Reader is potentially blockable if used on a Psychic.

It's a little tricky. I'd recommend doing some research on it rather than hand-waving the whole trick away.

What if the pokemon doesn't know odor sleuth but is known for their extremely sensitive nose?

The swinub evolutions are renowned for their noses. Especially the baby, Swinub. Which, in all three major mediums of pokemon, have been quoted to have an extremely powerful nose.
