Marcus hadn't touched the puzzle, not wanting mess with something he didn't really understand. He'd hung back, passing a small smile to Bix and Harrison. As the tiles were filled in he got a sense of dread. s**t was going to go down, and Dis was being too ******** calm about it. Marcus got that idea turning into reality as things not quite human came towards them.

The rage of battle was singing in their blood the moment they saw humans storming into the room. Those strange humans they saw in trance-inspired dreams, with strangely glowing weapons. Wylfenne aimed for a deep cut - they were standing at tile 32 now! Noo, that can't be! Did they miss?

And there was madness waiting for the ghoul downstairs. Shenny saw them: the humans with the glowing weapons she encountered in the Trance classes. Finally, she had all the pieces folding together: that's where she saw those glowing runes! The ghoul saw some fellow students she had seen before rushing into a battle, and she attacked, too, leaving all the hesitations for the future. She knew those humans could be dangerous.

The scene that awaiting Aurian at the bottom of the stairs had her summoning her scythe to her hand without thought. A mass of glowing tiles lay on the floor in a strange pattern. As a matter of fact, she was standing on one right now - 36? she had the strange thought.

Around the room were familiar figures - or rather, figures in familiar coats. "Hunters!" she cried.

Not waiting for an explanation (or for them to attack first), Aurian swung her scythe at the closest Hunter.

The hunters.

Though he did not know the circumstances surrounding the "incident" in which Hel had referred to, Sparrow knew at once that she had been referring to these when she had spoken of the "false reapers."

He did not want them here. Not here, of all places.

The scythe was out in a matter of seconds.

With a rage he had not known he had, Sparrow threw himself forward, shadows spilling from the palms of his hands as he gripped the black metal handle of his scythe. He swung the weapon around, letting it collide with the first hunter he saw - one with dark hair and an axe in his hands.

"Get the hell out!"

And by not quite human, what they were getting was the Heir to Conquest as Invictus had quite literally forced his way into the room. Was he angry? Possibly, but his expression didn't read as such.

However, he was there and any who had faced the heir before would be familiar with the way his hands moved to summon a weapon that was very much unlike those the hunters themselves wielded - simple and undecorated. Then again, it was to be used to destroy the humans rather than enslave them. They were no good.

There would always be more cattle, after all.

Still, he would make quite a volatile target with his presence.

However, it was fortunate for Rep and Jerry that Invictus's sudden tirade with gravity didn't actually hit them. Whether they moved out of the way or he simply missed he didn't care.

Jerry barely had time to breath, glancing up from their work as the creatures poured in. His face pale, he quickly shut his blinded eye, frantically summoning Roar in a burst of light onto his shoulder. Just... just aim and fire! Deep breaths! You can do this!

Grounding his feet, the bazooka barked forth...

He spotted a rather scantly clad ghoul lurching towards him on tottery shoes and had only a moment to digest it before it was blown from view and he was blown clear off his feet to the tiled floor.

At least he hit it, right?

Hunters, she should have known. Xiu's eyes widened slightly upon seeing them, but the look of surprise quickly faded, replaced instead with grim determination. She didn't know what they were doing here, but that certainly didn't matter right now. It was clear that they were up to no good, and that was enough for Xiu.

One of the hunters caught her attention, but only because she caught sight of the bazooka's attack from the corner of her eye. With little regard of the fact that she was a petite ghoul going up against a Hunter with a bazooka, she tried to strike out at him, only to miss.

Shoot! Jumping back on her rune, she scanned the room quickly for her friends. "Be careful, you guys!"

Tedan hadn't really moved from where he put down "his" last tile when suddenly there were all sorts of things pouring into the room and attacking them. One rather fancy-looking ... something ... actually summoned a weapon and then Tedan was pretty sure he tried to attack Jerry. Oh hell no.

He summoned Ardavan with a thought and rushed the Heir - without really knowing who he was - aiming a blow at his legs.

Mei could hear the commotion.

Was is battle? As she appeared on the scene there were strange looking people gathered all around. Other students from Amityville and even Invictus were here, attacking these people.

Hunters? She had only heard small bits and pieces about them, never actually coming across any just yet. But she did know they were dangerous.

Though while she wasn't quite up for fighting she knew that now that she was here she wouldn't be able to escape it. Tedan was the nearest hunter to her, she lept forward for an attack. She was more of less fighting just to survive and possibly get out of this place, not out of anger.

Of course, her inexperience got the best of her and she missed....

Jordan spun to face the sudden invasion of Halloween creatures; what he saw gave him a moment of pause. Not Horsemen? These seemed to be the kind of freaks that they were familiar with from the golem missions. He shook it off quickly enough. Horsemen or otherwise, they were still threats.

No, he was wrong; there was a Horseman among them. He recalled seeing the one in the robes when they'd nearly been killed by Conquest; even as he watched, the creature attacked with that weird gravity-warping effect that on a larger scale had nearly crushed them all. That one was a threat.

"Group up!" he shouted. "Focus on one at a time!" If they could take the freaks down faster, they'd have a better chance of surviving, a better chance of completing the mission. He summoned Ferros and went for the Horseman, grimly determined.

And then all hell broke loose. Those cloaked figures were definitely Hunters, and they were everywhere. Aksaja was startled for a moment, and then he moved off to a corner long enough to shift - spending a few minutes becoming a full-sized dragon. Then he roared and snapped at a rather nerdy-looking Hunter with some kind of huge tube thing.

But he missed . . . it had been awhile since he'd sparred in this form, and that Hunter seemed tiny. Damn.
