¡[Torero Bolero]!
₪xxxxxxxxxxGeneral
Name: Torero Bolero
Nicknames: Rero, Roro, *~DEATH IN THE AFTERNOON~*
Blood colour: Redblood [#990000]
Gender: Male
Symbol: A hoofprint
₪xxxxxxxxxxPersonality
Torero's the kind of kid you'll either find endearing... or annoying. Having been sheltered all his life by his overbearing lusus, he's not had many chances to make friends. So, to any troll he takes a liking to (most everyone): be prepared to have an eager little redblood on your hands.
₪xxxxxxxxxxStrengths
Bold: Seeing as beastfighting is his biz, it's no surprise that Torero can handle most anything else life might throw at him. He's often quick to act in any situation, and is only too happy to fight if the situation calls for it (or doesn't, even). That isn't to say he goes out of his way to pick fights, usually, but that he's only too willing to stand up for and protect friends, forcing himself to overcome any fears he might feel.
Attentive: Most of Torero's confidence comes from his keen observational skills. Sure, he seems pretty reckless, but he learns quickly from experience and sees the possible consequences quite well, thanks. He's just so self-assured that he won't suffer any! Once Torero learns something, it's not likely he'll forget, picking up on even the smallest of things to his advantage.
Compliant: Seeing as Torero is all about making friends, he's very laidback and easy to get along with, usually putting others first. He can probably get along with just about anyone, willing to give all trolls a chance provided they don't conflict with other friends! For being such a scrappy little fighter, Torero's actually more about keeping the peace.
Easy to please: For as much as he gives, Torero doesn't expect much in return. He's quite content thriving on affection, not all that interested in fame after all. He's also not very material, but cherishes any gifts given to him anyway, sentimental when it comes to even the smallest of gestures.
₪xxxxxxxxxxFlaws
Crass: Seeing as he's been sheltered most of his life, taught only the bare minimum etiquette of dealing with highbloods so he doesn't get immediately culled, Torero's otherwise pretty lacking in the socialization department. He often forgets himself and goes on acting informal and immature, even appearing insensitive at times when he refuses to get serious.
Clingy: It would break Torero's heart to lose anyone because of his blunt nature, though. He's rather desperate to be liked, wanting to win anyone and everyone over. If a troll is even a little friendly to him, if even just to be polite, he'll take it as a sign that they surely must want to be his best friend! Surely!!
Hasty: His assuming nature is perhaps his biggest fault. Torero's obsessed with filling his quadrants, enamored with romance, and no one is safe from his overactive imagination. Even in other areas, Torero tends to impatient, wanting to make up for all that last time under Rocinante's iron hoof.
Naïve: Again with his assumptions, Torero believes there is good in everyone, wanting to make friends with and please everyone. The sad truth is, the kid would probably be pretty easy to manipulate, oblivious to the fact that not all monsters are obvious as the beasts he fights in the ring.

¡[Appearance]!
Build: Very slight and lithe, Torero is definitely built more for the agility his shows call for. He's quick on his feet, dodging and dancing about, light on his lusus' back when they team up. Rocin's drilled it into him to look subservient around highbloods, the opposite of the confidence he's supposed to show when in the ring, which frankly confuses Torero—so he usually just ends up looking really fidgety and restless and playful no matter who he's around.
Hair: As well-groomed as Rocin tries to keep Torero, the kid's hair is usually this stringy, messily brushed back mess on his head. It just adds to his scrappy charm, no?
Horns: A tiny pair of baby bull-like horns sprout from Torero's forehead, curling inwards. Who knows if they'll grow any bigger, Rero doesn't much care either way.
Eyes: Wide-eyed and always darting about to catch anything and everything, Torero still somehow miraculously holds some childlike innocence in his gaze.
Expression: Although he makes his feelings very obvious through his expressions, it's not likely you'll see anything but a crooked grin on Rero's face. He actually has two protruding fangs, but somehow always manages to lose one, ending up with a snaggletoothed smile.
Clothing: Even his show clothes, traditional matador dress to us earth-folk, are the monochrome plain expected of trolls. But no matter what he wears, he's sure to carry around the bloodred cape on his left shoulder, favoring long sleeves under that.
Other: Reason for that? Torero's left arm was left utterly mangled after he was bested by a particularly fierce beast in the ring. Its jaws left his arm covered in scarred and twisted flesh, and Rero always takes care to hide this symbol of his failure. It's still mostly functional, only occasionally getting stiff and achy with overuse.

¡[Interests]!
₪xxxxxxxxxxHobbies
Reading: For a long time, Rocinante considered keeping Torero illiterate. Fortunately for Rero, ol' unicorndad was merciful and bestowed his ward with the magical world of romance and chivalric novels. Rocin kind of regrets that; Rero takes these books too close to heart and, well, Troll Don Quixote isn't the best kind of role model to have. The romance novels have given Rero an unrealistic view of troll romance in general, and his obsession with being a hero and making his own "story" also comes from his voracious reading and re-reading.
Dancing: Torero will be the first to tell you that his beastfights are like a dance. He enjoys the normal kind of dancing, too, of course! With the ancient record player he managed to scavenge, Rero is the lord of the dance. He's skilled in flamenco and salsa, and only too glad to learn any other styles. Now, if only he had a partner that wasn't an angry unicorn.
Taxidermy: With all those dead monsters left over from his shows, it only makes sense that Torero would pick up the hobby of amateur taxidermy. He enjoys making clothing and trinkets with the carcasses, and would probably give them as gifts to friends if he had any! As a note, his instrument is a quijada, a jawbone made from his first monster slain.
₪xxxxxxxxxxLikes/Hopes
Romance: Troll romance sure is complicated—although if you ask Torero, he thinks he's got it all figured out. Oddly eager to fill his quadrants despite being so young, the kid is really more in love with the idea of love (or hate, and so on), inexperienced and pining more after silly ideals gleaned from his terrible romance books than anything real.
Rough-housing: Seeing as he's been raised and trained to fight, Torero loves a friendly spar, or hell, even not-so-friendly ones. Despite being so young and adorably tiny, he's quite the scrapper. Bad enough that he can be overly affectionate—watch out when Rero randomly decides it's time to fight!
Reconnaissance: Torero loves to learn anything he can about the world he's been kept from and the trolls who inhabit it. And sure, that includes some not-so-guilty gossip, but Rero is especially interested in rumors and mysteries. He hopes to explore as much as he can, when he can, very keen on investigating the depths of nearby OHC.
₪xxxxxxxxxxDislikes/Fears
Ruin: Truth be told, Torero is afraid that his own tale will have a bad ending. Always wanting to be the hero, Rero can't deal with the fact that some trolls might actually dislike him. And not in the kismesis sort of way he so craves, either. Leading into that, with his love of romance, Rero is also afraid of being rejected. Kid's in for a reality check.
Robots: Although he hasn't had much experience with them, robots really creep Torero out. They seem so lifeless and well, creepy to him, OK?! He finds most technology in general befuddling, a very simple kid who finds cold metal as unnerving as scales.
Reptiles: Speaking of, Torero's herpetophobia rears its ugly head again. He's been trained not to ever show fear, but boy is it hard. It's hard and nobody understands, damn scaly bastards. Rero can generally keep himself together, but it's one of the more difficult obstacles to overcome.

¡[The Lusus]!
Name: Rocinante
Nicknames: Unicorndad, Rocin Gender: Male
Color: Redblood
Torero's "father" is Rocinante, a unicorn lusus. Rocin is an incredibly overbearing and protective lusus, strict and constantly critical of his ward when in private. He's kept Torero sheltered for most of his life, wanting to shield him from the realities of troll society and push him into the only life he figures he can accomplish—beastfighting!
Rocinante often joins Torero in the ring as his mount. In public appearances, Rocin is flashy and arrogant, acting more like a highblooded lusus than the lowblood he is. He does most of the talking for Torero, who is quickly getting sick of his unicorndad's micromanaging. It's not that Rocin has little faith in his charge, or doesn't trust him. It's everyone else Rocin can't trust. He just wants to protect Torero, even if he doesn't make his affections obvious.
He may look like a frail old nag, but Rocinante needs only the slightest provocation to get riled up. Torero hates how judgemental and ornery his father is, and while Rocin knows it's risky to lose his cool around superiors, his bitterness at being the lowest caste fuels him to view all others with contempt. He wants nothing to do with other trolls, and similarly, looks down on his ward for fraternizing with the ENEMY.
Unfortunately, as Torero's grown older, so has he grown bolder. You could say Rocin's got to.... UP THE ANTE.

¡[History]!
There's not much to Torero's backstory, seeing as Rocinante's kept such a tight leash on the kid. He's been trained from an early age to take down the ferocious fauna and orphaned lusi brought into the ring against him, and the kid's pretty damn good at it. Partly because Rocin sometimes might maybe cripple the competition a little, even out the odds a bit, but don't tell Torero that.
Kid's still managed to lose, but we don't speak of that incident!!! Long story short, a particularly fierce reptilian monster mangled Torero's arm. He wanted to quit beastfighting after that, but Rocin didn't let him. So sure, he warmed back up to the idea with a little goading from unicorndad, just don't pit him against anything with scales.
After receiving a letter inviting him to a sweet rebel meet, Torero made his longest venture from home yet, to Four Fronds! It was there he met Zeffer, and not long after, he was introduced to Aprife at the rebel camp. Great fun and slacking off was had until they were sent into the desert to find a jadeblood who was said to have a mother grub lusus. A simple mission that quickly devolved into violence. Although the three friends, "Team Primary Colors," didn't take part in the fighting, it... certainly left an impression on them.
Torero's first big adventure out in the world turned out to be pretty terrible. The trek home was a long one. As if it was possible, Rocinante's become even more controlling of his ward, and Torero hasn't left his hive since. Probably for the best.
