The Devil's Eye Desert is in disarray. Though the tribes celebrate their first year of freedom after being liberated from a century of slavery to the now slain group of vampires known as The Blood Barons, their prosperity has been short lived. After several unannounced and armed patrols of Crimson Legion Marines were found within the Desert, suspicion and fear that outsiders sought to occupy and subjugate the tribes began to grow. These fears became a reality soon after.

Lady Azur Bascule, blood descendant of the ancient snake demigod Salathis and inciter of the revolution that ended the Blood Barons tyranny, was murdered. When the Plague General Ivy attacked the farm town of Triwinds Azur Bascule and her lover, the honorary Lord Krayth Tal'Deraz, met her and her army of mutant soldiers in a battle to save the town and its fields. While the majority of damage done to the town was repaired, Azur was found dead and cut open in the streets. In the wake of her death Krayth fell succumbed to the depths of his hatred and vengeance and commanded that all of Triwinds' fallen -its citizens, soldiers and even the fallen plague troops- be gathered in the fields outside the town. There, he swore an oath of unending war against the Creator Grix and all who worshiped him, and sacrificed a handful of the Chaos Creator's living servants. In doing so he completed a dark ritual in front of the town's survivors, summoning The Void to consume the flesh and bone of every corpse in exchange for the power to exact his revenge. Because of this, The Town of Triwinds is now covered by a moonless night that never ends.

Lord Krayth vanished for a night and day. When he returned, it was directly to the Desert's subterranean capitol city, Andalusia, with the Fallen Plague General Sephra trapped in his arms. A brief battle ensued before all of the Desert's tribes, during which Sephra's arms and eyes were cut from her body and she was given by Krayth to his people, to punish her as they saw fit. When her tortured and broken body was returned to the Arena, she was publicly executed, and her remains are now impaled on spears alongside what's left of The Blood Barons. During this time, armed emissaries of The Crimson arrived in the Desert to request Krayth's presence before the Grand Marshall Srin Azio. The Legionaires were imprisoned and stripepd of their equipment, causing tensions between The Legion and The Desert's Tribes to flare. Krayth allowed the emissaries to leave unharmed but without their gear, and told them to relay a message to their Grand Marshall when they returned to The Citadel. Members of The Crimson Legion, and any who bear their weapons or the Crimson Cross are not welcome in The Devil's Eye Desert. Any agent of The Legion found within The Desert will be considered an enemy, and will be captured or killed on sight.

Due to the death of Lady Azur, the unauthorized patrol and entry of Crimson Legionaires in Desert lands, the unprovoked attack on Triwinds and its native Tribes' recent rescue from a century of oppression and genocide, The Devil's Eye Desert has become a fiercely xenophobic and territorial place. Almost all outsiders are treated with suspicion, and are not considered friendly or trustworthy until they prove their worth through their deeds. Any outsider found fighting within The Desert, be it with another outsider or a native, will be attacked in turn, and rarely will an attempt be made to capture them alive.

Because of the Desert's history with The Blood Barons, Vampires are the Tribes' greatest and most hated enemies. Any Vampire discovered within The Desert's borders is immediately considered an enemy, is treated with armed hostility, and will be hunted down until they are dead or they have fled the nation.
