Hello everyone! Sorry to keep making announcements like this but it's best that you know what's going on right? Right! We're still in the debugging phase so please bear with us and don't be afraid to point out something that you see could be taken advantage of or just seems off in the system! We're trying to improve game play for everyone! So here's what's been done, what's been updated, and so on and so forth!

What's been done:

You now need to post ten times to level up a Trainer's party. Wild Pokémon still need to post twenty times to level up. This has been done to prevent post stacking and encourage interaction with other RPers in the guild.

If you would like your posts to count towards leveling your Pokémon up you must now number each post that counts towards the leveling. If you don't then a non-numbered post is just taken as a regular RP post. This is being done because if someone posts enough to where their Pokémon reach a level that is beyond their badge control then they won't be able to properly battle anyone.

For example: If two Trainers are just standing on the route shooting the breeze then they're not really training now are they? If they're traveling around, making their Charmanders shoot embers at passing Pidgey then they are. It's not EFFECTIVE training but it's still doing more than standing around talking.

Please DO NOT take this example to heart.

Not having your Pokémon level up when you don't want them to also allows you to just have your character get to know people, places, and other things without the constant worry of whether or not you have enough badges to make them think you're worth listening to.

What's been updated:

The Mock RP has been updated with this information. I encourage everyone to PLEASE CAREFULLY READ THROUGH IT. I didn't write all that stuff for nothing. It's all got a purpose. Everyone should CAREFULLY READ ALL THE STICKIES. CAREFULLY.

In case you didn't know:

Pokéballs are reusable as they are in the anime. This means that if you throw three balls at the same Pokémon and it teleports away (like the little troll that Mesprit is) you can pick them up and use them again. We suggest you keep a count in your posts as to how many of each item you have on your person. Feel free to use sprites to do so.

For more information on playing a regular Pokémon character please go read the Info About thread in the Pokémon Village forum.

As more announcements about debugging are made, direct links will be given in this post to the latest post.

Hey there again everyone! Back with some more debugging news! Please remember that if you find any more bugs in the system to please report them in this thread! If it's red then it's probably important so you should read it!

What's been done:

For the Mock RP posts number 5, 6, 9, and 10 have been fiddled with. Some of the updates are in red and most of them have been added in without any special coloring done to the words.

What's been updated:

How to determine a Pokémon's shiny factor has been added in. RNG 1-100 and if you get 95-100 you get the shiny Pokémon. Anything less you don't get a shiny and you've only got one chance at doing this.

In case you didn't know:

In order to determine the level of the Pokémon you run into on a route use the RNG. If a route has Pokémon leveled between 2-8 then RNG 2-8 to figure out the level of your newest teammate.

For regular abilities you roll the familiar 100-sided die and 50 or lower gets you the common Ability and 51 or higher gets you the uncommon one. People who have already started RPing don't fret, your team's Abilities are safe but you will have to RNG for the uncommon ones from now on.

To get a Dream World Ability you will have to RNG or roll a 100 sided dice and get 95-100. You get one chance only.

Please keep in mind Pokémon PCs that you will ALSO have to obey the same rules when determining shininess and Ability and that you do it in the RNG thread, not your profile. You also cannot just be automatically holding an item. More on items for wild PC Pokémon will be discussed later.

Another update! We seem to be getting things done now! Awesome!

What's been done:

The Item Shop has been renamed Poké Mart. If you find it still listed as Item Shop anywhere then please let us know where it's at! We want to keep things current when we update!

What's been updated:

Using Vinny's suggested TM worth list the TM part of the mart is now ready for business! However we still need to figure out the TMs that are going to be given away with five other gym leaders. More info on that later.

In case you didn't know:

If you're worried about posting too often and not having enough badges to control your team don't worry! Only the posts you number count towards your team's leveling up. This means that you're free to have your character wander around the cities and get into trouble or meet new friends!

Another update guys. This one you might not like so much.

What's been done:

Unfortunately due to some unintended abuse we're going to have to change the rules regarding bringing a Pokemon from "home" for your character. They're no longer allowed. If you've already started RPing then you're fine to keep what you've got but they must be a level five at max and if you haven't started RPing then you must remove those Pokemon from your team. This was pointed out to a crew member by another member and in order to stop headaches for the crew we've just got to remove this option. We weren't specific enough when writing that rule we mournfully must remove this awesome idea.

All Legendaries are shiny blocked.

What's been updated:

The Odds and Ends thread. You can no longer bring a Pokemon from home.

In case you didn't know:

Please do not deviate from the provided profile skeletons by including pictures of your character's team. It page stretches unnecessarily.

Concerning PCs: If you happen to come to Gaia's character limit for posts then please feel free to use another post to continue listing what Pokemon you have in your PC.

Okay guys BIG updates to the guild here! Make sure you read and understand everything written here. You'll need to know this stuff.

What's been done:

Due to a member's suggestions we are going to begin work on a breeding center. You will need a certain amount of badges to use the facility and a certain number of posts to get an egg. You WILL have to obey egg group rules. You DO NOT have to have an egg if you don't want to and you certainly can't force PC controlled Pokemon into having babies. NO DITTO RAPE FOR YOU! We're going to begin work on an egg move system as well. Stay tuned for more information on the breeding center.

We're going to begin work on a berry/root orchard system. It will be run in a way similar to the Gabron Ruins. This will take some time to complete so please be patient with us.

What's been updated:

Some of the Pokeball capture rates have been updated!

Net Ball: 5-10 if used on a bug or water pokemon, otherwise 7-10
Nest Ball: Target level 1-10: 4-10, target level 11-20: 5-10,Target level 21-30: 6-10,Target level 31-40: 7-10, target level 41+ 8-10.
Quick Ball: 1st throw: 4-10, all other throws: 7-10
Repeat Ball: Don't have that pokemon: 7-10, have 1 of that pokemon: 4-10
Heal Ball: 7-10, heals captured pokemon.
Dusk Ball: 5-10 at night/in caves 7-10 otherwise
Luxury Ball: 7-10, extra happiness.
Timer Ball: 1st throw: 8-10, 2nd throw: 6-10, 3 throw: 4-10

In case you didn't know:

Post stacking is not to be allowed in any threads within the Etrua Region, the idea being to encourage interaction between RPers and avoid level-grinding. For the record, "post stacking" will be defined as posting three times or more in the same thread with no one else posting in between in a span of three hours. If you are caught post stacking, you will be issued a warning not to do it again and will be placed on a watchlist. Post stack again, and you will be temporarily banned for a period of up to three days, depending on the level of infraction (the more posts you stacked, the longer you'll be banned). Get caught a third time and you will be permanently kicked from the guild. I'm sorry, but we have to make sure that the people RPing with others can be just as competitive as those who are trying to speed to the finish.

Now, let's be honest here: sometimes post stacking CAN be a good thing in that it allows people to "bump" their RP thread in the hopes of attracting more people to it or can allow their character to go off and join other escapades that are ongoing throughout the guild. If you think you have been wrongfully punished, you are welcome to submit your case to a crew member - however, you WILL abide by their final judgement regarding your infraction, regardless of how innocent you think you are.
Unnumbered posts do not count towards the post stacking rule because they do not raise a Pokemon's level.

Your starter or Pokemon caught on the routes CANNOT start off with egg moves. It's unfair and with the breeding center being worked on you will get the chance to get your super special Pokemon soon enough.

Remember use this thread to post the bugs you find in our systems! Don't just PM individual crew members! We ALL need to know about these bugs.

Not sure if only Ken can post here but just so everyone knows, I'm testing the Pickup ability.

I'm testing to see if the first idea is going to work or if we're going to have to mess with it.

Basically we're using the game's item list in terms of rarity. Each item already has a given rarity at each level with each item in that rarity being up for a person's choice much like how the wild pokemon are.
Each one has a biggest option pool at the 10% chance of picking up, with a possibility of a Super Potion, Great Ball, Antidote, Escape Rope, Repel, and Full Heal being in there at levels 1-10

As of right now the rarity falls to this:
The 1% getting on 100
3% on 99-97
5% on 96-92
10% on 91-82
30% on 81-52
With each chance coming every time you gain a level or every 5 posts. The pokemon with the ability MUST be outside of it's ball for five posts and on the 5th post you can roll for the item. If you don't get an item you get another five posts. If the pokemon has an item your posts don't count.

For example Alex's Lillipup Jenkins can be in his pokeball for two turns and not gain a post for the ability, then be outside his ball for 4 posts before Alex gives him a berry. Alex then forgets that Jenkins has a berry and goes for another 3 posts before the berry gets used and the next post he would be able to roll for Pickup, meaning that it took Jenkins a total of 10 posts to have the ability kick in.

As a general rule I'm going to say right here that if they get an item during a battle they can't give it to their trainer just like the games. If another of the trainer's pokemon is in a battle they may be able to give it to the trainer depending on how much attention the trainer is paying attention to the battle. I'll test that during the gym fight, which will probably be some time next week if I don't get distracted much between now and then and I get an RNG or two in my favor for faster testing. Until then I'm going to have to ask that nobody else use the ability until then, but as nobody else has it yet, I don't think it'll be that much of a problem yet.

SUMMARY:
I'm testing Pickup.
Please don't have a pokemon use the ability until a consensus between the crew has been reached. If you do catch a pokemon with the ability it will be rendered TEMPORARILY as Frisk, or nothing.

Sorry for the late announcement folks but real life and other stuff didn't allow for this to be done yesterday as it should have been.

What's been done:

Officially the time to claim your rare or special characters ended yesterday. This means that all Legendaries, Team Celestia members, and League characters are up for grabs for anyone who wants them. Legendaries and other "special" characters WILL NOT be handed out to whoever thinks that they're special though. You will have to prove to the crew members that you can handle a character with this kind of power. In fact Legendaries are going to be THE HARDEST of the special characters to call your own. You are not allowed to ask to be this special person in ANY form and in fact doing so means a check against you.

For ANYONE to be considered for ANY of these characters you must have ALL of the following qualities:

• Be literate – These characters are important and so should be literate to set an example of how things ought to be run. Walls of text wherein one character responds to another without paragraphing properly along with random unnecessary punctuation and capitalization are examples of what NOT to do.

• Fair with their power - If you can be awesome as a regular character then you deserve an awesome reward. If you can play as a regular human or Pokémon with awesomely written posts that describe what they're doing well then you deserve a Legendary or other special character. If you attempt to give your character level 100s straight off the bat then you’re a haxy troll that will be ignored. Elite Four teams should be leveled anywhere from mid-sixties to mid-eighties in official tournaments since there is no order in which they need to be fought and the challenger’s next opponent should LOGICALLY be stronger than their last. In addition to this any E4/Gym Leader teams that are used OUTSIDE THE TOURNEY/GYM should be NO HIGHER than mid-sixties. You are already special YOU DO NOT need to be MORE special.

• High activity - Legendaries don't need to be online as often as crew members but they still need to be online pretty often. Posting in-game once a week is fair. League and Team Celestia members are expected to be more active more often but real life will ALWAYS come before Gaia. If one of these people disappears for a week then the RP they’re in can hold their horses if the character involved is so important. If you disappear for a month then for TC members we'll count your character as dead if you don't ever come back or a deserter on the run from the law and their former teammates if you do show up again. If you do the same and you're a Gym Leader or E4 then you will be replaced.

• Knowledge of the guild - A potential E4/GL/TC/Legendary should know what is and isn't allowed in the guild and arguably more importantly Gaia. They don't have to memorize the ToS, Rules and Guidelines, or the guilds rules and guidelines but they must be willing to go back and fact-check before opening their mouths. These same guidelines follow for League and TC members as well.

What's been updated:

The Poke Mart now holds Escape Rope. You need one badge and one item from the ruins to purchase this item. Please read more about it in the Miscellaneous section of the Mart.

Odds and Ends Why Pokemon listen to TC WITHOUT badges: I equate Pokemon training to dog training. You show the dog YOU'RE the pack master, not them and they know to obey you. Gym badges do that for kids but adults are mostly in the bad guy teams. They know how to PROPERLY carry themselves as the pack masters because of LIFE EXPERIENCE. When there is no pack leader there is conflict and so they become confused and try to assume leadership by infighting.

I think it's along the lines of children, while confident, aren't AS confident with their Pokemon because let's face it, they can KILL them no matter WHAT level they're at. Adults know this but they also know that if they want to show that they're in charge they have to project that air of, "I'm the leader, I'm the master, I'm the one running this and you will deal with it". The badges are a confidence builder for the kids.

In case you didn't know:

You are ALL ALLOWED to post whatever bugs or glitches you find in this thread! ALL OF YOU!

Elite Four teams should be leveled anywhere from mid-sixties to mid-eighties in official tournaments since there is no order in which they need to be fought and the challenger’s next opponent should LOGICALLY be stronger than their last. Please sign up for GL/E4/TC members in this thread.

Me again.

I think this is probably something that needs to be addressed or clarified ... because I'm sure confused!

I understand the badge system, so there's no newbie teams grinding up to 100 in Blyse, but what I don't understand is what is the maximum level for newbie trainers?

Meaning, for those trainers that have NO badges, what is the highest level they can train their team to without their pokemon rebelling? I see that after getting the Blyse gym badge, up to level 20 pokemon obey. But otherwise I don't know what to do, and don't know when to stop before I hit my pokemon's peak level.

One last thing, on a related note, but can only certain pokemon on an active team be leveled up at a time, while ignoring the rest? For example, if I wanted to only level my Snivy to 9, but keep my Magikarp at level 8 on the 10th post, is that fine? Or do I need to go deposit Magikarp in the PC first?

Thanks!

I would say that if someone has NO badges at all then they can only really and honestly level their Pokemon to below what the first gym further allows someone to control. If the first gym allows people to control Pokemon level 20 and up then people with Pokemon level 19 and below don't need it. I hope that makes sense.

For the crew's simplicity I'm going to say that yes the whole team has to level up at once. Drop the fish off at the nearest PC if you really don't want to level it further. Sorry.

emotion_facepalm
That entirely makes sense now. That was just my own backwards logic messing with my head. But you might want to clarify the rules still, or just a small note for people like me who can be dense. Such as plainly saying that pokemon above 19 won't listen until that kid-trainer has the Blyse gym badge. Then pokemon above 29 won't listen until they get the next badge.

Fair enough, with an easy enough solution to my 'problem'. Thank you!

Well I honestly thought that it was implied what with the guild being based off of the games in so many respects but I see what you're saying. Odds and Ends: Passing Through has been updated to clarify this potential problem.

What's been done:

Hello everyone! Kenocka here to tell you that in one week if you haven't made a post in the guild or attempted to update your character sheet to the latest profile update then you are going to be booted from the guild. You are free to rejoin after you've been booted if for some reason you just aren't able to get online during the appointed time. If you've updated your character profiles to the correct skeletons but have NOT recieved a PM from one of the crew member approving your profile then please post in this thread and SPECIFY EXACTLY which character profile needs to be approved. The crew will get to you in time and will send a PM with the Title Etrua Character Approved along with details of what character SPECIFICALLY has been approved for play along with anything that needs to be fixed.

CREW MEMBERS NEED TO REMEMBER TO ALSO RECORD WHAT PROFILES HAVE BEEN APPROVED IN THE APPROVED PROFILES THREAD. Just writing "approved by so-and-so" in each individual profile is not enough.

The Icunga Forest Orchard is now open. You'll need the Brick Badge to get into it though. We're working on teams for the gyms right now and we're REALLY sorry for the wait guys. We really are.

What's been updated:

With the Icunga Forest Orchard out of the way we will now begin to focus on other things that are a quite a bit more important to the guild as a whole, namely the gym leaders. We are SO SORRY for taking so long on this guys. You don't even know how sorry we are.

In case you didn't know:

We're still holding tryouts for the open GL, E4, and TC members in the appropriate thread.

If anyone has any ideas on how contests should be run then feel free to espouse your ideas in a thread of your own making in the OOC forum, same for ideas on how a membership drive should be held!

All announcements past and present ARE IMPORTANT so you should READ THEM.

Hey all! Akai Shi-Koret here with a quick announcement regarding Abra and Ralts. There appears to be some confusion over methods of capturing it, so allow me to clarify:

In the games, the player quite literally has ONE turn with which to capture the Abra. That means they either have to use a trapping move like Spiderweb or Mean Look (which generally they won't have at that early stage in the game), or they can immediately throw a Pokeball at it and hope to Arceus that it works, since if the Abra breaks free it'll immediately run away. Etrua works in the exact same fashion - a trainer encountering a Ralts or Abra will have only ONE opportunity to do something about it. This means they can have a Pokemon use a move on it (which will typically result in an escaped Psychic-type, since none of the newly caught Pokemon will know Mean Look, Spiderweb or Block) or they can attempt a SINGLE Pokeball throw. That means that you'll have ONE die to try and catch the Abra/Ralts with. If you manage a catch number with that single die, congratulations! If not, then the Pokemon flees and you've missed your chance. No secondary die rolls, no rolling three dice at once - you're only allowed one.

Thanks for reading, and I hope this cleared up any issues you might have had. Happy training!
