Zan is addicted to exploration, mysteries, or anything else that gets his blood pumping. Many would call him a thrill seeker of sorts, though it's rarely seen as a positive trait for him to possess as, more often than not, his little 'adventures' land him in no small amount of trouble. Whether it's him stepping on toes and getting him into political or social trouble or managing to get himself hurt or lost when he's out exploring, he always seems to be either oblivious or uncaring when it comes to the consequences of his actions. In battle this can cause him to be completely reckless at times, causing injury to both himself and, possibly, others in the pursuits of victory.

When it comes to emotions, Zan wears his on his sleeve and will always listen and sympathize with others. He's good at telling whether others are hurting or troubled and, sometimes, it can even affect his mood as well. While this is good and causes strong friendships it also leaves him incredibly vulnerable, leaving him an easy target for emotional or verbal abuse or betrayal. Losing a friend or being yelled at by someone he cares for hurts him deeply, more deeply than even seeing others suffer which also affects him a great deal more than he knows it should. Zan also is known to trust too quickly and never suspect insincerity in others.

Zan adores working with his hands as well as feeling textures. This doesn't always just pertain to objects, however, but people as well, causing him to touch, hold onto, or hug others without reservation, whether they're a friend or stranger. This isn't always met with negative responses and makes him seem friendly and outgoing when, really, he just enjoys touching others. It is also how he memorizes items or people, identifying them with the feel of what they were wearing, size, or, with items, the grain of what it's made of or the weight. It's a typically handy trait when it comes to identifying counterfeits or when remembering the name of a fabric.

When Zan isn't in control of a situation or conversation or he isn't the person that is talking or acting, he tends to grow anxious or nervous, even self conscious. This applies to other situations as well and, when provoked in such a state, his temper can flare quite quickly. This can also occur when others provide him with criticism, causing him to second guess himself, grow anxious, and, if pressed even further, grow angry. Said anxiety can also result in self-consciousness and self-doubt, causing him to falter in battle or be blinded by the resultant anger.

If there's one thing that Zan loves more than adventure or hands-on activities, it's talking. He could be chatting about anything, even something completely meaningless, and he'd be enjoying himself. Obviously this can be problematic because, due to his excitement and eagerness to add to conversations he has a tendency to talk over people or interrupt them. Typically he isn't that great of a listener as it causes agitation but sometimes, if you're talking about something exciting or intriguing he'll let you speak. He also has a tendency to try and be witty, but usually it just comes out rude or just plain mean. Most of the time he doesn't realize that he's being disrespectful, simply thinking that he's only being funny when, in reality, he's probably just offended some of the people he was talking to. ❀HistoryThe Kuang household was never anything incredibly extraordinary. They were an old family that had risen to the top by being skilled carvers and woodworkers, creating jewelry, furniture, art, and other high quality items throughout the years. Typically their family was very stable and quiet, very polite and well liked by other families, but then Zan had been born.
Zan was the only child born to Kuang Hui and Kuang Lin late in their lives. They had been trying for many years to have a child but most attempts simply ended in tragedy, one stillborn after another. Finally Zan was born, surprisingly healthy given their past experiences with attempting to have a child and the entire family rejoiced. From the day he was born he was always loved and cherished by his family, small as it was, but, unfortunately, due to his father having to sustain the family, he was typically left in the care of servants or aunts and uncles when they could spare the time.
Sadly the Kuang family fell back onto providing their son with tangible happiness through toys or items, leaving him a tad spoiled when he finally grew old enough to venture out of the home. More often than not his mouth got both him and his parents into trouble. It became so bad that they began not taking their son out in public at times or trusting him with important duties he would normally undertake at his age. This caused even more problems as Zan began to sneak out of the house and would sometimes get into fights or get hurt while exploring.
Finally he grew to the age in which they could send him to the Academy, something that made Zan incredibly nervous. He didn't really have any actual friends his age, not really. All of the boys or girls he interacted tended to leave or lose touch eventually, either due to some fault of his own or because he got into some form of trouble. It was that day he turned to his father and told him that he'd try to be good finally and do this right for him. That he would try to be a good heir and fight for their family and try not to get into too many fights. This pleased Kuang Hui but, deep down, he knew that it was most likely a promise that his son would be unable to keep.

.............❀ Kuang Hui (Father) Hui is generally a quiet yet stern man, always dedicated to working hard to support his family, to raise them to greatness. It is very rare that he says much, but when he does it is important and speaks volumes. Due to his tendency to work hard, even to the point of exhaustion at times, he didn't spend much time with his son as he grew up, mostly filling in gaps of responsibility when necessary. It is something he regrets, not being a bigger part of his son's life, but Zan seems quite content with the fact that he doesn't get to talk to his father often.

Zan has never really been big on tradition, always thinking of newer, brighter things and, well, adventure. He decided to align himself with the Nobles partially because his father had already which is where a lot of his knowledge of the underground war came from.
