ICE BREAKERS' FORT.... CLOSE ENOUGH .... IT LIVES What used to be * Guess where Edel isTEAM MEMBERS: Aksaja, Edel, Moure, Rikki, Roch (Manda, Zyphiris, Trira, DarkHeartedSorrows, Ice Queen) GENERAL SANDCASTLE STATS TOTAL HP: 130 - 6 = 124 - (56 - 15) = 83 + 50 = 130 (capped) - 129 = 1 TOTAL OFFENSE +5 TOTAL DEFENSE: +5 TOTAL STABILITY: 2 ENVIRONMENT ITEMS USED: Coconut: +5 offense -5 stability Sand Dollar: +20 HP, -5 stability Sea Urchin: +10 HP, -3 stability Pool of water (a moat): +5 defense -5 stability SIGNATURE and BONUS items DAILY STATUS EFFECT DAILY STATUS EFFECT MARCH 11TH TRIALS CONCLUSION PART 1:The kraken left very few castles alive: and even those that survived looked ready to fall apart any second, hanging on by their bare foundations. At last, seconds, minutes, hours later, the attack receded, as each tentacle, even the beaten and bludgeoned ones, retreated back into the ocean.
A moment of silence and then:
"All participants and spectators! The Trials of Famine portion is now closed and judging has commenced! All spectators can now take a thirty minute break before they will be promptly ask to return to their seats for the scoring results. All students in the trials will be returned to their regular - ahem - size and may also walk around, pat each other on the backs, and of course, assess the damage. Be mindful as you walk around of the judges that are looking at each structure. Don't forget to buy some last minute refreshments before you leave, now half prize until the end of the hour!"
True to the announcer's words, the students thankfully, found themselves returned rather happily to their normal compact humanoid forms. From their size, the damage to their castle looked even more abysmal: in fact it was a miracle that some of the structures even stood. That really, only a scant few structures stood. OOC: REMAINING DAMAGE TALLY - IF YOUR SANDCASTLE REMAINS STANDING, but you are out of turns and the kraken's HP is not at 0, before it left, its tentacle swings one particularly nasty blow as your castle simply COLLAPSES (INSTANT KO)! If you have a sea turtle you can save your castle, but unfortunately a pearl does nothing. OOC: ALL SPECTATORS:- ALL SPECTATORS CAN NOW WALK AROUND and talk to the participants (By visiting any thread in this subforum marked OPEN). IF the thread is marked CLOSED, please do not enter it! Also please note which characters are entering an EXITING the thread. IF you are ENTERING the thread, please post at the top in bold, if you are EXITING the thread please do so as well. Make sure to quote whomever you are talking to! TRIALS PARTICIPANTS:- A few of you have survived three waves of onslaughts, though many of you have persevered to try your best! Congratulations! An overall tally will be made tomorrow, and points and rankings will be giving out ICly for each group. This will determine the advantage they get in the next Trials - The next trials will not ICly be happening until MARCH 13TH 2012, so participants please take a few days to take a break, stretch, and enjoy that OOC world. I will post results tomorrow, once again, to which your student can post a reaction to IN THE SPECTATOR THREAD. - After results have been posted, all TRIALS threads other than the SPECTATOR ONE will be closed off and archived to make way for the next Trials. - At this point in time, students are welcome to show off the... remains (or not!) of their castle or wander around to see others. Simply post OPEN to open your thread to visitors, and EXIT and ENTER threads as you need to! - IF YOUR CASTLE SURVIVED, PLEASE MAKE SURE TO EDIT THE FIRST POST OF YOUR THREAD AS IN BOLD RED SOMEWHERE: THE REMAINING HP VALUE OF YOUR CASTLE. - ALL OTHER THREADS PLEASE UPDATE THE FRONT POST OF YOUR THREAD WITH THE REMAINING HP VALUE (0) OF YOUR CASTLE THANK YOU. - IF team members have not rolled yet, subtract -5 HP from your kraken AND YOUR CASTLE for EACH time the team member did NOT roll. Apply the result, do the damage to your castle as necessary and update the first post with the FINAL HP.

It was hot. It was seriously hot, Roch thought, glowering up at the sky, where the sun was beating down on him. This wasn't like their beautiful sun back home, it was harsh and ugly, a flaming ball of fire in the sky. And the ground kept slipping out from under his boots.
But hell, he rather liked the massive water. That was pretty awesome! With that thought he headed for the post claimed in the name of the Ice Breakers, unzipping his vest as he went and tossing it to the side. Then he reached for his belt buckle--
Stripper music need not play, for this boil had taken to wearing swimming trunks under his pants half the time! He let his pants drop and kicked off his boots, looking quite pale in the bright sun, but not caring. "Sandcastle? We're building a castle with this stuff?"
How was this a trial? Other than the jackin' heat?

THIS WAS A TRIAL ALRIGHT.
Edel had arrived early and received the instructions for their next task, but whether or not she had begun to make plans for it was another matter. After the previous day's defeat at the puzzle challenge, the ghoul had resolved to bring it. That not-so-hidden competitive had emerged and was raring to go.
But today.
The weather. She just -
The frost demon was huddled up under one of the beach umbrellas when Roch arrived. She must have been too dizzy in the heat to have been fazed as the punk reaper began stripping down in front of her. “Yeah,” she replied weakly, going silent once again. Did she look like she was going to faint?
Breathe, she instructed herself, taking a small breath of air and exhaling. It was pouring alright, and the ghoul was already in a very simple and light dress. Edel stared balefully at the sun that bore ahead.

"Well... jack," Roch thought as he looked at the ice demon. "You ah... probably aren't gonna be much use for this thing, are you?" he said bluntly. "But if you die, we're screwed, so keep to the shade and maybe we can get a gnome or somethin' to get you some drinks."
He looked around for a gnome. Brilliant boil was brilliant. Then he shrugged. "But we can totally do this ourselves, so don't worry, alright?" he told her, grinning. "I would hope that four knobs could build a sandcastle."
That was another thing, he thought. He'd been planning on getting some first years in on this, but... well, he didn't really have any first year pals, other than TG, the Ev ghoul, and Alex, he guessed, but he didn't know any of them that well... at all.

Rikki may or may not have wanted to roll around in the sand and be a lazy ******** as soon as he stepped onto the beach. He couldn't help the impulse, because beaches were the laziest place in all of Halloween, right? Well, with the exception of his bed. But still. It was torture that they were expected to do work when he could be sprawled out on deliciously warm sand enjoying life.
Nyyrikki was out of his hoodie and shirt and had kicked off his boots within seconds. BEEEEAAACCCHHH. Unlike his bro, though, he had not taken to wearing trunks under his pants, so his jeans, belt, and chains stayed firmly in place. At least he looked tan in the bright sunlight, unlike Roch who looked suspiciously like a ghost. Dude was going to burn.
Speaking of burning. He turned to Edel and genuine concern painted his features. She didn't look good at all. "Yeah, you just sit out and supervise. Let's find you someplace with some shade to sit down."

Aksaja frowned up at the sun as he wandered onto the beach, glancing down then at Edel more or less collapsed under an umbrella. "Who came up with this idea?" the lightning dragon muttered. The heat didn't really bother him, but it was obviously putting at least one other team member at a major disadvantage. So not fair.
Still, they had a castle to build here. Not that he'd ever done anything remotely like this. "Does anyone even know how to build a castle out of sand?"

More topless boils ahoy.
Unfortunately, the ghoul's vision was starting to get blurry, too bad for her.
Edel may or may not have said something, it wasn't very clear. There was some very lame gesturing going on, and after a while, the ghoul finally whispered, “Sandcastle.” She looked at Rikki in the eye.
And then promptly passed out.
The patch of sand around her was starting to get rather wet. And not because the ghoul had been pissing her pants neither.
Whelp. I guess it's all up to you boils now.
((Going to sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep, gdnight!))

"Can we get a fan over here?? Maybe some ice??" Roch bellowed at the watchers before grabbing another umbrella and placing it so it blocked the sun more for the ice demon. "Let's get this over with," he told the other boils, heading for the sandy area that was theirs to claim.
He started digging, messing with the sand with a slight frown. "Okay, it packs together, so we just need to pile sand on top of sand and make sure it doesn't fall over, right? And we can add stuff to it, make it awesome!"
He looked at the water, then the long strip of sand in front of it. There were things there. "Who wants to build and who wants to collect stuff?" he asked the others.

Aksaja spat out a curse when Edel collapsed and glanced around, then started moving a few other umbrellas over there to create more shade. Couldn't exactly produce ice or anything on command, but maybe this would help?
Then he wandered over to stare at what Roch was doing with the sand. "I think it should maybe look like something when it's piled up? Or we'll just have a huge pile of sand." Which didn't make much sense to him, not after the whole thing with the clues. They had to look smart here! "Soo we should decide what it's gonna look like. I'm fine with uh. Building something. I can just make it up if you want me to."

"Make it look like a castle," Roch said, shrugging. "Hell, one of those big fancy houses in the classy part of town would be good. I'll be back to help after I find some more stuff to put in it."
He started towards the beach, only to stop as a gnome handed him a strange star looking creature. "What the hell is this?" he asked blankly, turning it this way and that. "It's awesome! Hey, Rikki! Look at this thing!" He stared at it from every angle, clearly enthused. "Let's use this!" he said to Aksaja.

.... For some reason, that one word uttered from her lips with that serious eye contact felt vaguely like an insult. He frowned at she passed out and a fort of umbrellas was fashioned around her, but he was still stuck on the fact that he was, very much, now insulted by the word sandcastle.
Giving up on figuring out why that was, Rikki flopped by the little pile sand Roch had begun, playing with the thresholds of it's ability to clump together as the others did similar tests. He discovered that He couldn't make a thin wall without it collapsing in on itself. Which sucked, because he really wanted to make the castle giant and hollow so he could hide inside it.
That was one idea out the window.
He glanced up when Roch called to him, and his eyes list up like it was Halloween. "Duuuuuude. What!" He got up so quick that he destroyed the little pile of sand that he begun to form infront of him and rushed over to his friend to examine the star-thing. "What is that thing?" He snatched it from Roch's hands and turned it over a few times, exploring the make and model of the creature/thing. And then he discovered something amazing.
It suctioned.
More importantly, it suctioned to Roch's face.

"Mmpphmpmh--" Riiiiiiip. Roch pulled the starfish off of his face, giving the other boil a dirty look before reaching for the belt of Rikki's pants. "It wants to get in your pants, man," he told the other boil, trying to shove it down Rikki's pants. "It must be a ghoul."

"NO MAN. NO LADY STARS."
Rikki squirmed and tried to break away from Roch's grip, but was unsuccessful until the starfish was already halfway down is pants and stuck to the skin just below his belly button. The look he leveled Roch was designed to kill.

Roch fell over, he was laughing so hard. "Dude, I was RIGHT!" he said, wiping at the tears that threatened. "Oh man, she wannnnt yooouu!" he teased, forgetting for a moment that they had an audience. Until someone yelled at him, "GET TO WORK YOU MORONS!"
"Oh s**t, who invited my granddad?" he demanded, looking around with a dark expression.

Moure was the last of their group to cross over from their group, and the patchwork's first thought upon crossing to their trial area was "Why was it so bright?" He squinted, tipping his head to look at the shining circle in the sky. Ergh, he might have to replace some of his flesh when he got home. But if the sun was burning then...
Edel.
Moure immediately turned his attention to the frost demon, expression taking one of great concern. At least Roch and Rikki had gotten her out of the sun. It seemed she had passed out though by the time he'd arrived. With a dismayed look on his face, he gave her hand a little squeeze. "Just rest, we'll take care of it." He pulled a few of the umbrellas a little closer so they'd shade her better, and then turned to look at what progress his team had made.
Ergh, it was so hot out. He hadn't planned on coming anywhere like this, unlike Roch, who had apparently planned ahead for this possibility. As such, he ended up pulling off his shirt, kicking off his shoes, and rolling up his pants just just past the knee. At least he wasn't as pale as Roch. Well, at least most of his skin wasn't, anyway. The patches ranged in color between a little lighter than Rikki's and around Roch's skin tone, with some...interesting colors in between.
At seemed that most of his group was a little...preoccupied with some kind of star-creature, and instead turned to look to Aksaja, who was actually trying to build. He moved to help the dragon boil when something caught the corner of his eye. There was something half-buried in the sand, something circular in shape that was just a bit darker than the sand itself. He knelt down and sifted it from the sand carefully, holding it up once he'd worked it free. It was a curious thing, and Moure carried it over to the pile of sand his team had been working on. "Hey, maybe we could put this on it when we're done? Add some kind of decoration to it, you know?" He asked, holding up the sand dollar for a moment before settling it gently in the sand next to him. He started pushing up some of the sand, reinforcing the sides of their new and rather pathetic attempt at a sand castle.
