TEAM MEMBERS: Petro (Huni Pi) Sheridan (Amon Larethian) Angenora (Frezir) Sepheran (Taska Neko) GENERAL SANDCASTLE STATS TOTAL HP: Dead TOTAL OFFENSE 8 TOTAL DEFENSE: 8 TOTAL STABILITY: +1 ENVIRONMENT ITEMS USED: 1 Seaweed, 1 Tiny Hermit Crab, 1 Sea Urchin, 1 Pool of water (a moat), 1 Coconut SIGNATURE and BONUS items  Real Fake Bird DAILY STATUS EFFECT GO TO THE DAILY STATUS EFFECTS THREAD to update the status! Apply stats as necessary. The kraken left very few castles alive: and even those that survived looked ready to fall apart any second, hanging on by their bare foundations. At last, seconds, minutes, hours later, the attack receded, as each tentacle, even the beaten and bludgeoned ones, retreated back into the ocean.
A moment of silence and then:
"All participants and spectators! The Trials of Famine portion is now closed and judging has commenced! All spectators can now take a thirty minute break before they will be promptly ask to return to their seats for the scoring results. All students in the trials will be returned to their regular - ahem - size and may also walk around, pat each other on the backs, and of course, assess the damage. Be mindful as you walk around of the judges that are looking at each structure. Don't forget to buy some last minute refreshments before you leave, now half prize until the end of the hour!"
True to the announcer's words, the students thankfully, found themselves returned rather happily to their normal compact humanoid forms. From their size, the damage to their castle looked even more abysmal: in fact it was a miracle that some of the structures even stood. That really, only a scant few structures stood.
OOC: REMAINING DAMAGE TALLY - IF YOUR SANDCASTLE REMAINS STANDING, but you are out of turns and the kraken's HP is not at 0, before it left, its tentacle swings one particularly nasty blow as your castle simply COLLAPSES (INSTANT KO)! If you have a sea turtle you can save your castle, but unfortunately a pearl does nothing.

Sepheran paused for a moment looking up as if he could see the blazing sun that now shined down upon them. "Well guys...we may not have gotten the bonus but at least they didn't send us off to some Jack forsaken place. The sun sure feels nice on my scales, Liannan is appreciating the warmth as well," Sepheran commented taking a deep relaxing breath before fighting the urge to just lay himself on the hot sand and taking a nice long nap.
"So then, our task is to build a sandcastle right? Let's get to it then, best not wait too long, rather not give more teams a better head start right?" Sepheran replied trying to find the bright side of the battle.
After all building sandcastles seemed harmless enough...right?

Sheridan's tail twitched, his eyes turned as he raised a hand to shield his eyes from the sun. Jack that was bright, far brighter than he had expected, and hot...why the Jack was it so hot? He had spent his childhood on mountain tops, he was a -celestial- dragon, he did -not- like the heat! That sense of foreboding was not diminishing! Hmph! Grumpy dragon is grumpy.
So they were on a beach, in the sun, and they were meant to build a sandcastle. Building a sandcastle? Really? That may have sounded simple enough, but then nothing was ever simple was it? There was a catch, he knew it, something else was going to happen.
Fine, he guessed they had better get started before whatever was going to happen happened. Oh come on Sheridan, don't be so grumpy! You like building things, right? You can use physics!
He looked around, searching the nearby sands for objects that could be used in the construction of their sandcastle. Oh how he wished he'd worn shorts today, oh but his shirt was going to be the first thing to go, yep.
A nod to Sepheran.
"We should start by searching for materials."
Besides sand that is, they certainly had plenty of that.

Sepheran nodded at the dragon, "Castles has moats too right? I mean where are the alligators going to fit without one...though I don't think we'll fit alligators in our sandcastle moat...Angenora dear think you could look for something we could add to the moat...like an alligator...but smaller?" Sepheran questioned before sitting himself down. "I'll start building the base and the moat around it while you guys look," he stated, after all it would probably be easier for them to look then for him to have Liannan search. He'd stick to the actual task for now anyway.

Angenora was too keen on the fact that they were on the beach and it was quick warm. More like scorching hot from the sunlight and the sand between her toes. She blinked, using a hand to put over her brow to help block out the sun. "At least we all put in effort right?" She commented as she walked towards the boils. She giggled lightly as she gave a light wave to Sheridan and Sepheran. "I'd more than glad to help out my fellow teammates!" She said as she looked over to Sheridan with a toothy grin. "Shall we?"

Sheridan was already shedding pieces of clothing until he was down to only his pants, setting the articles it was far too hot for aside in what he hoped was a (relatively) safe place. With that taken care of, he turned to his teammates with a nod.
"I'll look over here."
He indicated the direction he meant to go before moving to search the beach for items they could use for their sandcastle.
Being on a beach, one would expect to find more items, but it seemed all that had caught his attention was a lone coconut. Not wanting to return with nothing but the coconut he had retrieved from the sands, he had also picked up a few assorted seashells (though whether or not they would be of any use he did not know).
It was not until he returned that he realized one of the shells at contained a passenger and was in fact a very small hermit crab. He was even less sure of how much use it would be now...

Sepheran nodded lightly waving as his teammates went about searching the nearby area for things to add to the castle before digging into the sand some more shifting things here and there until he finally build something remotely like a castle. Unfortunately he wasn't much an artist and not really that great in detailing since he relied on Liannan's sight for those things, but at least it looked semi decent enough despite it all.
Wiping the sweat from his brow Sepheran stood up thinking of how to get some water into the hole he dug around the castle. "Hey guys...how do you suppose we get the water into the moat?" Sepheran stated loud enough so his roaming teammates could hear him.

WAVE 1: CRABS, CRABBBBBBBBBBBBS HP 30/30Scuttling right towards the team was an army of oversized crabs, their pincers waving menacingly. They were ready to destroy all things sand and castle related. CRAB DEFENSE MECHANICS: CRAB VERSUS THE CASTLEOdd = Offense Even = Defense THIS CRAB HAS 19 OFFENSE POINTS. (( First of all, don't forget to add the additional status from the Daily status effects to your sandcastle )) - This crab is trying to do 19 damage OFFENSIVE against the sandcastle. That means you have to match your DEFENSIVE damage against this crab's offense. Subtract your castle's defense against this crab's offense points. IF your sandcastle is higher, you take no damage! If it is lower, subtract the HP value from your castle's HP. One person must RP out their sandcastle standing against the crabs or taking damage, and edit the first post sandcastle's HP as necessary (at least, though various reaction posts while battling is fine) CRAB VERSUS THE CONTESTANTS- EVEN IF YOUR CASTLE STOPS THE CRABS, you still need to delegate them away from your castle, so they do not hurt YOU. There is nothing stopping it from hurting YOU. - Roll NORMALLY (no Fear charges), 2d6 -6 if you are a Y1, 2d8 - 6 if you are a Y2 to determine your damage AGAINST THE CRABS. Year 1's have 30 HP, Y2's have 40. - The crab has a sum total of 30 HP. Every time you hit the crab, you take 5 damage. If your TEAM LEADER is KO'ed your group is disqualified! - You can hit the crab as many times as needed until it is dead. If your crab is not dead by the end of the OOC 24 hours/ one round, the crab will berserk and take out half your sandcastle's HP. - To attack the crab, once again, roll your attack, WRITE UP YOUR RP POST, and subtract 5 from your HP every time. Make sure to also post at the bottom of your post Your total HP, the damage you do to the crab, and the crab's total (remaining HP.

The young basilisk had wandered towards the water trying to see if he could spoon some of the salty liquid over to the moat with his hands when Liannan hissed something in his ear that made him spin on his heels in shock. Apparently a swarm of giant crabs had decided that this beach was theirs and no castle was going to stand between them and the sea.
"OHHH!! NO!!!" Sepheran hissed quickly trying to make his way back to the castle to defend the sand from the animal's pincers. "I just made that!! Come on!!" Sepheran groaned as he tried his best to swipe away the attackers. Every time he knocked one away another came and knocked a chuck of the castle away. "GUYS I NEED SOME SERIOUS HELP HERE!!!!" Sepheran yelled as he continued to do his best to clear the immediate area.

Sepheran really didn't know if he could hold off the critters for very long. Now that he started to protect the castle the little buggers were coming after him snapping him with their claws, and by Jack's name did those things HURT. A few nips though wasn't about to scare this monster away though.
Pausing for a moment he waited for Liannan's command before striking out at an approaching menace kicking the thing straight onto it's back...of course while it was a small victory this was a mass of crabs and not a single one so while he managed a kick he also managed to get pinched by another claw. Sepheran gritted his teeth...he really wished his teammates would arrive some time soon...

Was there no end to the crabs? Why were they attacking anyway, horrible little creatures. Sepheran was now a bit glad he hadn't decided to take a nap on the sands...what if one of these things had come and attacked him instead of the sandcastle...the thought made him shudder slightly as he attempted another attack knocking another away but still unable to avoid the pincers of the remaining crabs as he did so making him groan slightly.

Petro did not like the beach. Not in his human form at least. He should have gone with his natural form. It would have been easier to lure these Jacking crabs away. Instead, the sand's lack of traction made it difficult for the horse boil to do much of anything. At least something that didn't involve eating sand after falling face-first.

"'M on my way!" The tikbalang called out to Sepheran, pushing himself back onto unsteady feet. He launched himself at the attacking crustacean, raising his leg up high before abruptly slamming his heel down onto the shell with a satisfying crunch.

The tikbalang felt sharp pincers cut through the skin along his side, blood and FEAR seeping out. While pressing an arm against his wound to staunch the bleeding, the monster horse rammed his shoulder against the crab, intending to upturn the thing.

His attention snapped from whatever had held it a moment before, draconic fangs showing in a snarl. Of course, he knew something was coming, but crabs? That he had not expected. Birds raining death from the sky, giant sharks, unseen monsters in a menacing fog banks (*shudder*), those he had thought of. But crabs, he had not thought of.
Crabs, fine, he could deal with that, he could just fry or freeze them--OH JACK! He couldn't use his abilities or his FEAR! Alright then, fine, he still had claws and teeth, he'd just have to SMASH the crabs without fire or ice.
A low growl grew into a roar as the dragon lept into the air. Turning, his wings folded back, diving at the monster claws first, sinking talons into shell, intending to crush the shell and reach the tender flesh underneath.
