Continued from here~

For once Alexander was the one pulling Yin along, as the mantodae continued to try not to yawn and meandered along with him, still feeling sluggish. He needed something to wake him up or to get the coffee out of his system, though Alexander's cold hand in his was helping a little bit. The maul was not nearly as crowded, but it was nice to just be led along, for once not in any rush or bothered in the least at the pace that they were oozing along at. Plus, Yin had the peace-of-mind that only the blissfully innocent could have, and was not bothered in the least by Mot's rather odd departure.

"Did you say that you had come here looking for something for me?" He questioned, still puzzled by that. Yin was not certain of what he would want at the pet store that Alexander would also want. Princess Eva seemed...different than the pets that the zomboil owned (well, the ones that Yin had seen, considering that he still had not been invited to even see where Alexander's room was). Alexander taking a trip to the maul to get ties? He completely believed that, but the pet store? Not so much. And he was curious. The store was really fairly close, but Yin just did not want the suspense. He tugged at the zomboil's hand lightly to make sure he had his attention before asking, "what did you call them about?"

It was a bit of a different experience for Alex, to be leading somebody else along for once instead of being led around himself. The pace was slower then it would have been if Yin had been tugging him along instead, but as Alex was really in no hurry and Yin seemed to be feeling quite sluggish himself, it wasn't really that big of a deal. He couldn't help but still be a little puzzled over how Mot had reacted to Alex asking him to come along to the shop. He didn't want to think that the cowboil had a problem with them for being a couple, because he just didn't seem the type. But just..that reaction..and the way he said ghoulfriend..like if he hadn't specified Alex might think he liked boils.

It left him feeling very confused and more then a little upset, to say the least, but he tried to shove it to the back of his mind for now. He was getting to spend time with Yin, after all, and that was cause for happiness. He could let bothersome thoughts like those he had been having earlier go for now and investigate them further later.

"Yep!" He replied, cheerfully. He had rather wanted to make this a surprise for the other boil, but when he had called the shop they had more then one type of pet that he was looking for, and he wasn't quite sure how to go about choosing which one Yin might prefer. That is, if Yin even wanted one at all...but Alex had asked about returns as well, in case things hadn't worked out as planned, and the shop said it was possible.

"I called them about...well, you remember that mini pet battle class...and the suggestion Nurse Cricket said about getting like a type of body guard pet for Princess Eva? You seemed to be pretty interested in something like that...and I just thought..that maybe..." He let that sentence trail off, unsure of how Yin was going to respond. He might think this was a horrible idea, or be upset with Alex for wanting to buy him something. But...it was for Princess Eva, right? He hoped that meant he'd be ok with it.

Did Yin remember the minipet battle class? The crestfallen look on his face suggested that yes, yes he did remember it. But then he perked up slightly, the first tiny bit of energy seeming to seep back into his step. "A guard for Princess Eva?" If Yin had ever passed his class he might have started to sparkle, but there was an interested glint to his eyes that were almost fully open for the first time since downing his cup of coffee.

"Alexander that is a wonderful idea." He was not gushing, but it might have been just about the closest he had ever come to it barring his interactions with Princess Eva. He was completely not even thinking about the fact that a pet might cost money and was really just focused on Princess Eva getting a guard. How perfect. "You really do think of everything, do you not?" He was smiling a bit, and his hand may have tightened a bit on the zomboil's. But then he yawned again, turning his head to the side. Were they at the pet store yet? He glanced around, pleased to find it in sight. Princess Eva would be so excited! She obviously was a very sociable minipet, if Miss Xiu-Ying's pets gave him any indication.

His thoughts that this idea might be a horrible one were put to rest as soon as Yin looked up at him and gave him that look. The look that said that Alex was doing the right thing, that he wasn't screwing things up (yet) and that he was making Yin happy. That look always seemed to warm him up on the inside and make him just feel good. "I'm....I'm glad you think so." He grinned, squeezing Yin's hand gently in return.

Unfortunately Yin was still yawning and acting fairly lethargic, so while he may have seemed excited, Alex was still forced to tug him along. "So the pet I was asking about, they're not really very common. The shop only gets them in stock rarely, but luckily enough they happen to have two right now. If you approve once you see them, you can pick the one that you like!" He added cheerfully as they finally approached the store.

"Let's just hope they don't kick me out this time." He mumbled, as he pushed his way inside, towing the weremantis behind.

Thankfully, the workers were not the same ones as had been here that first time Alex had been kicked out, or even the second time that he had used Michi as a distraction. The ghoul that he had spoken to over the skellyphone had seemed very friendly, and helpful. She told him that when he came to just go straight to the back of the store, where they kept their more exotic pets, and find her.

So, Alex meandered around merchandise and aisles, pulling Yin gently and slowly behind him until they made it to where they were headed. Once there it was just a matter of scanning the clear plastic windows into each square container that held a pet to find the two that Alex was looking for. They were placed together in a container, for whatever reason, and were rolling around together playfully, their large fluffy tails nearly hiding their forms. One was dark with glowing blue markings and the other a stark white in comparison. Alex pointed them out to Yin. "What do you think? They're just babies right now but they'll grow up to be pretty kick a**!" He grinned, dropping Yin's hand and stepping forward to snag a pamphlet from under the window that described the pet and gave information about it before turning and handing it over to Yin.

"There are pictures to show what they look like as adults" He glanced around for the worker that he had spoken to on the phone, but she was currently no where in sight.

A pet that was not common? The really confusing part of all of this was why there was some particular type of pet that Alexander was trying to get, something that he had bothered to call ahead about. Unless...perhaps they were very good guard pets? Alexander had probably read up about them before ever calling, which meant that he had probably put quite a bit of time and effort into this. Even walking (well, skateboarding by the look of things) all the way to the maul to pick one up. An odd lump was beginning to form in his throat but he swallowed it, letting himself be lead through the store.

Alexander seemed to be looking for something in particular, and Yin finally found himself looking into a container with two rather ridiculously cute creatures inside of it, tumbling about. Overall...the room smelled rather delicious. He had to remind himself that he was not here to pick out a meal. "I take it by that you mean that they will grow up to be fearsome creatures?" he mused, and then took the pamphlet when it was handed to him, a bit reluctant until the zomboil mentioned pictures.

He looked at the images, noting that while they still looked cute they also looked like they were able to take care of themselves. "They do look fiercer as adults. And I believe that possibly Princess Eva would approve of their appearance." He leaned forward a bit to get a better view. The one with the blue markings also had some natural colors as well, adding a layer of depth that he could appreciate. "The darker one seems to be a little stronger," he noted, watching it pin down the white one playfully before getting pushed off and scampering around the container. "But the pair does look quite happy together..." It was odd to think of prey as having any sort of feeling, but these two certainly seemed to know each other.
PostPosted: Fri Mar 02, 2012 11:03 pm

Fearsome cretures? Well, maybe. But cute fearsome creatures if anything! Alex himself was not at all immune to the delectable scents wafting from every corner of the room, but he was at least able to not breathe when he wished it, and he had had the forethought to eat before coming to the maul so as not to be as hungry upon entering the pet store.

As Yin took a look through the pamphlet and a closer look at the pets themselves, Alex said, "They're called Vaisels." He got closer to the container, and pointed to a small written blurb beneath the window and next to the pamphlets. "It says here that the one with blue markings is commonly known as a 'Runic' and the white one as a 'Silverwing'." Even as he spoke, he could see a ghoul approaching them with a ready smile, tail swishing behind her happily as she approached the customers.

"Can I help you?" She inquired, politely, as Alex straightened up and smiled at her. Her voice was familiar, and he assumed she was the worker he had spoken to on the skellyphone.

"Yes, I think so. I spoke to you on the phone earlier? About the Vaisels? They're still for sale, right?" He didn't see a sold sticker slapped up on their container, but he knew pets like these never lasted long in the shop and typically got snagged up quite quickly.

"Oh yes! Alexander, was it? No, they haven't been sold yet. You got lucky! We only just got them in this morning and while some have stopped by to have a look nobody has decided to take either of them yet. But they won't be here long." She cautioned.

Yin had been engrossed in watching the pair for a time, but hadn't asked any questions about them yet, except to note that one appeared stronger then the other.

"So uh...what can you tell me about these to in particular? Pretty friendly? Biddable?"

"Yes yes, of course! They respond well to commands and are super friendly!" She was smiling large, obviously out to make a sale. "The Runic is a male and the Silverwing a female, so he might grow to be a little bigger then she does, if any of that makes a difference to you. And these two seem very sociable. They took to each other right away and have been playing together non stop."

Alex glanced to Yin to see if he had any questions, or if he had made any progress towards a decision. Alex wasn't going to push him to choose either, or even one at all if he chose not to take one.

So he had to choose between a 'runic' and a 'silverwing'? That really did not help him make any sort of decision however. A ghoul approached but he decided that as Alexander was dealing with her he could probably just keep looking at the 'vaisels.' So the runic was male, which would make him a prime candidate to serve Princess Eva, though the female might match her fur better, and that might be something that his darling would consider when if he brought one home.

There was a lull in the conversation behind him, and he glanced back to see Alexander looking at him. "I...I beg your pardon Miss," try not to yawn, try not to yawn, "but would it be possible to hold them?"

The ghoul looked a bit hesitant but nodded. "Yes, it should be fine, but just for a moment." She walked over to open the container and he backed up. Both of the vaisels seemed interested in her, and more curious than afraid of her dipping her hands into the container and pulling one out and handing it over to him. He took it carefully, doing his best not to touch the ghoul as he held first the silverwing, then, after he had handed it back, the runic. He was doing his own check, trying to get a closer look to see if they seemed healthy and fit.

As she was putting the runic back into the container a rather dreadful thought occurred to him. "Excuse me again Miss, but how much does a 'vaisel' cost?" Mentally he was trying to add up how many seeds he had left after the cup of coffee, and failing as his brain really, really did not wish to cooperate and he probably could not have added them without seeing them even on the best of days, but the few seeds that he did have seemed far, far too few. It was pointless to try to make a decision about which one to get if he could not even afford it.
PostPosted: Fri Mar 02, 2012 11:37 pm

Alex shoved his hands into his pockets and watched, completely bemused, as Yin was allowed to hold each of the small and fluffy vaisel kits. He stepped up close to the other boil and reached out a hand himself for each for them to sniff at, and while both might have wrinkled their noses a bit, the silverwing even sneezing afterwards, they both did not seem to mind him in one bit and the runic was even so bold as to paw at Alex's hand, bringing a warm smile to the zomboils face.

He was actually fairly glad he wasn't going to be choosing which one to get for Yin now. For he was pretty confident, at this point, that Yin would indeed choose one of them. Why wouldn't he?

Alex felt like he had pretty much figured out everything, and was even inwardly congratulating himself on a job well done. He wasn't so bad at this 'bonded' thing so far! Or at least, he didn't think he was doing such a bad job of it.

But then Yin asked the question that made Alex visibly cringe, though luckily, Yin was looking at the worker ghoul and not at the zomboil himself. Before the ghoul could answer, Alex interpreted, giving her a happy smile though his eyes were pleading with her to just...keep her mouth shut or play along.

"They really don't cost much, Yin" Ok, that was a lie, but they didn't cost much to Alex, who had the money to be able to comfortably afford at least one of them. "And since it was my idea, and a gift for Princess Eva, you really shouldn't worry too much about it. Though if you want to contribute towards paying for it, you're more then welcome!" He added in quickly, not wanting to make the boil think that Alex was treating him like a charity case.

"I just don't want you to feel obligated, since this was essentially something I originally planned to do on my own. Though I'm really glad I ran into you, and that you're here with me." He smiled softly down at the other boil, almost forgetting that they were in the middle of a shop and not holed up privately in a bedroom.

Thankfully the worker ghoul didn't say anything, and pretended to busy herself with other things while waiting for either Yin or Alex to make a decision.

Alexander was the one who answered his question, which was just fine with Yin really, it meant dealing with the ghoul less. From the sound of it...Alexander planned on purchasing the vaisel for Princess Eva? The zomboil was really making this a rather lengthy answer, but when he finally stopped Yin gave him a soft, somewhat bemused smile. "You are going to spoil her if you keep getting her presents."

But he was so happy that his bonded cared so much for his princess. Forget his stomach, the way to this boil's heart was through his pet. And it being a present for her seemed to make everything okay. "Well, I do have a few seeds to put toward it, so I can at least help out a little. But if you are going to be paying for it you should help me pick out which one to get." He looked back at the container. "It seems so awful to leave either of them alone in there, but maybe the other one will go to a good home as well." He had a horrible feeling that it was going to be rather sad for the vaisels to separate. "For a body guard the runic does seem strong, but perhaps she would enjoy the companionship of another female, so I am really not sure which to pick."
PostPosted: Sat Mar 03, 2012 9:45 am

Alex always seemed to talk far more then was actually necessary, but he was pleased with the end result, so he guessed a lot of talking was the best way to get Yin to agree to things.

That and saying all gifts were for Princess Eva, that seemed to work as well. Though he sort of wondered it Princess Eva would even be pleased with this gift. She might have jealousy issues and resent a new pet...

On the flip side she might love it, so Alex decided not to dwell on that too much either.

With the way Yin was looking at Alex now, the zomboil could feel himself practically melting on the inside. The weremantis probably had no idea how he made Alex feel just by smiling. He longed to be able to wrap his arms around Yin, to just hold him, but...well, public place for one, and for another, Yin just didn't seem to get the physical contact thing.

Maybe Alex could give it a try later just to see what would happen.

But for now he was being asked for an opinion, and while this was exactly what he was hoping to avoid by having the weremantis come along, it seemed that there was no way to be getting out of it now. "I'm sure whichever one you decide not to take will go to a wonderful home." Alex assured Yin, before grabbing a pamphlet out for himself a flipping through it. It seemed to have all different types of Vaisels in it and his eyes stopped on a rather fiery looking one called a Balerion. Thank jack neither of these were going to grow into that thing.

"The Runic might be stronger but it says here that a Silverwing is swifter and more agile." Alex was peering into the container again, and was surprised to see that both pets had stopped their play to just sit and stare at the two boils with large, adorable eyes.

Oh dear. There was that feeling coming over Alex again. That one that was quite similar to when he found a new tie that he just had to have. The feeling that was the reason that Alex had as many pets as he did already.

He couldn't just get another one! And these were far too expensive...If his mom found out he'd spent most of his money on buying himself one as well as one for Yin....He knew he could get away with the first because it was a gift for somebody else, and while his mother might not be impressed she would have at least accepted it.

But those faces! He could feel his resolve, his will power, crumbling. "I--I might have an idea. Why don't I just buy them both? You can keep one, and I'll take the other. That way they won't really be separated, right? Because I can bring mine over to see yours anytime... And if things don't work out with whichever one you pick, we can always trade?"

So it was a matter of strength versus speed? Speed had always seemed to work for him...until he had arrived at the school. And Princess Eva was probably more speed based than strength if he had to chose one, so perhaps the runic would mesh well with that. On the other hand, the silverwing would be able to reach her faster if there was an issue, so it still was a strong contender. And perhaps Princess Eva would enjoy the companionship of another female? It was all getting much too convoluted as he tried to make a decision. What if whichever one he chose she did not approve of?

Alexander was examining the container and so Yin tried to wait to see if he could make a decision, and hopefully take the choice out of Yin's hands. But when he finally did speak it was not what Yin had been expecting. Alexander would buy both of the vaisels? And keep one? "That is...a very good idea. They will still be able to see each other frequently, and you can have a new pet as well." Yes, this was a very good plan.

Now that he was looking at the vaisels as which he would be taking and which Alexander would be taking it all seemed easier. "I would associate the white of the silverwing more with you, though if you can recognize the strange markings on the runic than perhaps it intrigues you more? If you are paying for them you should choose first." He pulled out his rather pathetically few silver seeds and with his other hand pulled Alexander's hand out so he could give them to him, not really knowing that what he had just given him probably would not even count as a down payment on one. "It is not much but here is my contribution."
PostPosted: Sat Mar 03, 2012 10:56 am

"Ok then, that's what we'll do." He smiled, though on the inside he may have been crying a little at all the money he was about to drop on these guys. But Yin still wanted Alex to choose which one's each of them would have? Well, that was easy at this point, since Yin really seemed to be leaning more towards the Runic this entire time, and yes, Alex did appreciate the white coloring of the Silverwing more, even if the Runic had been more friendly towards him.

"I'll take the white one." He decided, quite quickly, just as Yin was pulling Alex's hand out of his pocket and handing him some very few silver seeds. Alex felt bad about taking them, as they were probably the only seeds Yin even had. But instead of protesting he just said, "Thanks." And straightened up fully to wave over the worker.

"We're going to take both." He said, rather quickly before he could change his mind. The words themselves almost stuck in his throat before he could get them all out.

The ghouls face lit up, "Excellent! Well, if you'll just come with me we'll get the paperwork filled out and we can get the supplies you'll be needing for their care." Supplies? Oh right, they probably required some super special awesome food that was sold at ridiculously high prices as well. He tried not to cringe, and he also knew that whatever food he bought for them now, he would not be continuing with. They could eat raw meat like the rest of his pets, surely!

Alex followed the ghoul up to the till, assuming that Yin would follow after him, filled in the 'adoption' paperwork, listened to her go over her spiel about the warranty on them (basically just in case they dropped dead in the next week from unknown causes) and on returns, which Alex could do within the first 10 days of purchase if things weren't working out as planned. She then took him on a trip around the store, trying to sell him various items such as collars, leashes, kennels, dishes, treats, and food. He shook his head at nearly all of it, though grabbed two small (but still expensive, as he had feared they would be) bags of the food and glanced towards Yin to see if there was anything he wanted specifically for his new pet while mentally tallying how many silver seeds he was going to have left when this was all through.

Yin trailed after the pair, more than content to let Alexander deal with the horror known as paperwork. So he would be taking home the natural and blue colored tail...creature. A good boil to answer to and protect Princess Eva. He was debating names and avoiding attracting the ghoul's attention when she began a tour to show off things that they might want.

Alexander was looking at Yin rather pointedly as they passed by various items, and Yin just shook his head. "I would rather make sure that he will get along with Princess Eva before trying to purchase anything specifically for him," he explained, though he was eyeing potential future collars.

The ghoul finally seemed to decide that she had tried to sell them enough, and led them back up to the front counter to check out. Rather than wait as Alexander paid, and therefore not actually seeing how much they cost, Yin wandered back to the back room to the vaisels. "It seems as if you shall be going home with me," he quietly informed the small mass of blue fur in the container. "And you, you shall get to go to Alexander's room." Which had to be very special indeed, as it was a very secret place. He glanced up, waiting for the other two to return, and wondering if they would just be carrying to two back on their own. And then he yawned. The vaisels may have distracted him for a little while, but he was still rather exhausted.
PostPosted: Sat Mar 03, 2012 12:05 pm

Alex nodded, as it seemed like a reasonable plan, and he didn't really think he had enough money left over to buy much else of anything. "This'll be everything, then." He informed the worker, who gave him a tight smile and nodded before heading back to the till where he could pay her. He wasn't sure she should be giving him that kind of look, considering how much he was probably helping out her commission sales right at the moment.

As Alex let his back pack drop to the floor, he unzipped the front pocket and pulled out his bag of silver seeds, placing the bag on the counter. "There should be enough for everything in there." He murmured, while placing the few seeds Yin had given him in his pocket and waiting for the worker to count out what was in the bag and leave him what was left over from the cost. The few seeds that were left looked abysmal, and Alex knew he only had very few more left in his room. All together he thought he might be left with about 20 seeds, which was pretty damn sad for him.

A glance around showed him that Yin had wandered off, likely to go back and look at the vaisels some more. The ghoul handed him his receipt, along with his copy of the paperwork and the two bags of food, which he attempted to squeeze into his back pack along with his skateboard. He somehow managed to make it all fit, though there was no way it was going to zip up even partially, but shrugging, he threw it up across his back again anyways and made his way back to the containment units with the worker ghoul following behind.

"They seem to have settled down a lot since when we first got here." Indeed both of the vaisels appeared to be completely played out, and the blue one was yawning before placing it's head in it's paws. "Shouldn't be much trouble to carry them back to the school."

The worker ghoul opened the container up, taking each vaisel out and handing it to it's respective owner.

"Ready to go?" Alex asked Yin, giving him a light nudge with his elbow, while the white vaisel hung limply and tiredly in his hands, curling it's long and fluffy tail around his arm lazily and closing it's eyes as though it were incredibly content.

Yin could understand out the small kits felt, and figured that it might be nice to just curl up like one of the vaisels. The worker was handing him the blue vaisel, and he took it gently, crooking it between his arm and chest, Alexander's bag of ties secured in his other hand. "Yes, we should probably try to get them settled in before it gets too late." It was already too late.

He dipped his head to the worker ghoul in acknowledgement. "Thank you for your assistance miss," he said before making his out of the shop. At the shop's entrance he pushed the plastic bag up onto his wrist before realizing that it did not really matter as Alexander's hands were full with his vaisel. "Do you...do you need any help with your backpack?" It looked rather stuffed, and he could manage it if the zomboil wanted help. He was ready to head back toward the entrance, moving slightly faster than before, but certainly not up to his usual speed. "I think that perhaps I shall name him Féi," he said suddenly and rather out of the blue.
