Well, boys and girls, this is it. The Dark Legion has received its first contract. A wealthy shipping tycoon has recently become fed up with pirate attacks on his ships, and has contracted us to take out their base. However, there’s a catch: the pirates, fearing reprisal, have kidnapped his daughter, and are holding her hostage. So, until we get her outta there, we’ll have to hold off on going in there, guns blazing. Doing so would ensure that the girl is killed, and our contract will be voided.
So, we’ll have to make sure she doesn’t die, right? To do that, we need to get her outta there so that we can open up a can of whoop-a** on these SOBs.
The pirates operate out of this small island. It’s about a mile wide, and about ¾ a mile long. The pirates usually take the ships they capture here, where they cut them up and sell their parts. They usually just beach the ships on the shoreline and have local villagers (who are working under intimidation) cut them up with blowtorches, but for some of the newer and tougher ships, they use the ship saw shed. Think giant chainsaw that can cut a ship like a kukri through a turkey sandwich. Yeah. It’s that powerful. Its only downside is the unearthly noise it makes while cutting…which we’ll use to our advantage…..but first, let’s take a look at the major parts of the island….
A) Pirate Complex/Village.The first location is the Main Pirate Complex/Village. It consists of a number of shacks from which the villagers and pirates live, and a large building (appears to be some sort of pub) from where the pirates operate. The client’s daughter is probably being kept here.
B) Ship Breaking Yard. This is where the pirates run their captured ships aground to begin the process of scrapping. Lots of open space here, so it would be best to avoid this area in case of a firefight, but it’s an ideal place for a helicopter insertion/extraction.
C) Ship Graveyard. This place is just sad. As pirates captured smaller, less valuable ships, they would strip them of anything they could sell for a profit and left them there to rot. However, it does have its advantages. The patrol boat has to slow down to go through it, so it can buy valuable time if you get caught in a chase on the way out.
D) Pirate Gunboat. Don’t ask me how, but these bastards somehow got their hands on an Israeli Sa’ar Class Missile Boat. When my contacts in Israel got wind of this, they went ballistic, and gave us the opportunity to earn some extra coin by sinking it. If you guys find the time, it would be worth a shot to plant a few charges on the hull…
E) Ship Saw Shed. Ship Entered Shed. Ship Got Sliced Into Giant Metal Bread Slices Inside Shed. This is where the pirates slice apart the tougher ships. The noise that it makes is hellish, but it’s also very convenient to mask gunshots with. The saw itself takes about a minute to slice through a ship. Remember this when engaging enemies.
F) Jungle. There is a small jungle covering eastern side of the island. It’s very handy for hiding in, especially because the pirates are too afraid of snakes to go into it.
G) Lagoon. This lagoon is surrounded by jungle, and is conveniently shielded by the sunken tanker (see below ) The patrol boats don’t bother entering here, since it’s only a few feet deep, but a shallow draft RHIB can easily get through.
H) Sunken Tanker. Lo and behold, the pirates are terrible ship captains. They ran this supertanker aground while trying to get it to the breaker’s yard, and it promptly sunk faster than the bass in a dubstep song. However, it turns out that the position of the tanker conveniently shields the lagoon from currents. Better for us.
I) Patrol Boat Route. The Pirates operate a small fleet of PBRs left over from Vietnam. They’re all in terrible shape, but they still have enough left in them to make hourly patrols around the island. This could prove…problematic if you’re caught, so don’t.
So, you’re probably all wondering, “Aingel, what do we do? Pirates are scary….” Well, first, change your pants. Second, listen to me. The plan is simple. A few marines will insert via RHIB into the lagoon, avoiding the Patrol boats. The Naval vessels (to be determined by Luke) and Air Force will wait over the horizon until the girl is outta there, then they’ll come in to provide support. Once the ships come in, the Army guys will come in via chopper and assist the Marines in clearing the village of pirates. After that’s all said and done, we get outta there, and be home for lunch.
So, let’s recap….
1. Marines insert via RHIB.
2. Marines make their way through the jungle, then into the village, to the main complex, avoiding detection.
3. Marines recover VIP, and escort her to the extraction point at the breaker’s yard. Avoiding detection is encouraged, but no longer mandatory, as long as you can get her to the EZ safely.
4. Marines meet up with Army, and proceed to clear out island of pirates. Navy and Air Force will move in to provide support. Once clearance is done, RTB.
However, you see that grey line? That’s the secondary team. Their objective is that gunboat in the harbor. Their mission will be somewhat like this….
1. Secondary Force splits from main force, and heads south.
2. SF skirts southern edge of island. Be careful to avoid the patrol boats. There are numerous areas among the rocks to hide, if needed.
3. SF enters graveyard. The wrecks are handy for cover.
4. SF plants charges on boat, then heads to shore.
5. SF goes ashore and links back up with primary force to head to the extraction site. Detonate charges once VIP is out of the area.
Now, I don’t want to have to say this, but please make sure to AVOID CIVILLAIN CASUALTIES. WE ARE MERCENARIES, BUT WE HAVE MORALS. WE WE WILL NOT SINK TO THE LEVEL OF OUR ENEMIES.
Please remember to post in turn. I know the Army guys will have to wait until the Marines are ready, but please, don’t get impatient and run in. Any out-of-order posts will be deleted.
The Branch Leaders and I will be checking over your posts, helping you get used to Tier 1 RPing. We want you to get better, and the only way to do that is to cooperate.
Also……I’ll be playing as the bad guys, too…..
*evil laugh*
And let the op begin. Have fun!
