Event The event is you send Valentines to people for hearts. You can even send them to NPCs for cards.

Cupid From what I can gather this is the Anonymous message. When you get cupid it's someone who is sending a message anonymously. Though it seems that is not only true, as some messages are pretty naughty to be just from anonymous person.
