The war is the main roleplay for the guild following the Season One plotline. The war is between Saphir and the Biyotik senshi against Usagi, Diamande, and the Gemstone senshi. This thread has some more information regarding the Season One plotline. As for getting a gemstone character in the guild, simply go to this thread. It lists all the available positions and has an application if you would like to try and reserve one of the available characters. All applications should be posted in that thread. As Diamond said in her announcement this morning, only Gemstone characters can post in the main roleplay threads. Any other characters can post in open roleplay threads marked "Side."

Sailor Peridot Nope! All you need to have is a basic understanding of Sailor Moon. Moon Kingdom, Beryl, Princess Serenity, etc? Season one stuff? And that is okay? Sweet! One more thing... What are knights? I never heard of them and the aforementioned link did not provide much information as to what they were.

Sailor Peridot Basically it's a way to give all the senshi their own 'tuxedo mask' xD Does that have to involve actual tuxedo wearing and rose throwing? Does the knight need to be male?

The knight I used to have was certainly not the rose-throwing, mask-wearing type. Of course, he is no longer active, but I see no reason why your knight should have to follow any mold.
Naturally, I'm not a member of the crew buuuut....Personally I don't see why there would be a problem with breaking some glass ceilings and letting a lady play a knight.
