Miranda came back to consciousness with a ringing tone about C7 in pitch. She grumbled about crazy magic students messing around with spells when she was practicing. She noticed though that she was definitely not on the floor of the music room.
Well ain't this just great... she thought. She was gonna give whoever was throwing spells around willy-nilly a piece of her mind. Suddenly there was a flash of memory.
She was in one of the sound proof practice rooms recording one of the many viola tracks for her final project. She finished her play through and made a few notes on the music score. When she glanced at the clock she noticed that her free period was coming to an end. In a rush she cleaned up her project and made sure she saved the recording to a storage crystal. She was just on her way out of the music wing when she noticed a small leather book laying on one of the chairs in the front row of the choir room.
Miranda checked her watch to make sure she still had time to get to her next class. She was plenty early still so she decided to tidy up the choir room. The teachers had pretty much gave her free reign of the music wing as long as she kept the place clean before she left. She needed the extra credits from her side projects to cover her lower grades in other areas, and besides it was fun to have access to all the different instruments. The choir room seemed pretty well kept except for the lone book that, when she looked inside to see if it belonged to the library, seemed blank except for some pictures...Back in the present, Miranda bolted up into a seated position and looked around wildly. She had been no where near any practicing mages. So the voices and the shimmering moonlight had been terribly real. Fortunately she was not the only one awake. Next to her there was another girl asking if everyone was alright. Well that wasn't exactly how she had put it, but that's what Miranda was sure was implied.
"Um.... no. Not dead." she spoke in a slightly confused tone scratching a spot on the back of her neck.
"Though I may as well be if I don't get back before finals..."She took a good look around at the town square they seemed to have been dropped into. The buildings looked strange. The only thing she could see was that they were made out of something dark with the windows lit from within. They must be in either a low magic or very poor area. Hardly any of the buildings were floating and there didn't seem to be any crystal structures at all. And the moon was freaking huge!
"Wow.... This place is weird..." She mumbled before standing to join the other girl. She held out a hand and smiled at the girl.
"Sorry to have dropped in so suddenly, I'm Miranda Thatcher. Any idea where we are?"
