DANCE FLOOR

On the stage, a large semi-transparent golden globe, as tall as the average man, stands majestically on a stand. In it are wads of cash and cheques, donations from tonight's guests for the beneficiary.
Situated in front of this globe, your band for the night, the Nyancats, are playing a wonderful selection of youtube tracks as people dance to the music on the floor. Why not join in?

PostPosted: Mon Dec 05, 2011 9:22 am

The Nyancats are currently playing:

Final Fantasy VIII - Ami

The songs here will change every 2-3 days, or when mori remembers to lmao. Much thanks to a whole bunch of you for contributing to the songlist! Including, but not limited to, Rika, Shnazz, Sigma and Yulo <3

Flo poured herself a glass of juice and tried to blend in with the rest of the crowd; no alcohol tonight since the beneficiary was an orphanage and there would be lots of children present, other than the ones that were pretending to be orphans of course. The hall was already packed with people; people eating, people chatting, people dancing to the music... Looking at the fancy floofy dresses some of the women were wearing made her feel less conspicuous. Big formal parties were not her thing, especially big formal parties where she had to anticipate attacks. Ugh.

She checked her watch: less than half an hour to 7. She took a walk around the edge of the halls, inspecting the hidden cameras for faults as she went.

As Khoric made his way to the entrance of this largely magnificent event by following the crowds of people into the ballroom dance floor, he irritably adjusted his silvery white tie under his shiny dark grey suit jacket. He wasn't adjusting it for how uncomfortable it was or that it needed fixing, he was simply trying to find something for his nervous hands to do.

Being in large crowds like this was definitely not his thing, not this loner nerd type. No sir-ee. Plus all these rich people, it made the young teen frown even though he was technically categorized in this group now. He thought for sure he would never get used to that.

"... Too many people... What's with this music? Winter fantasy land...." Khoric mumbled to himself, eyeing carefully the people around him who were just as, if not more, dressed up as him. "Sounds ominous too..."

He wasn't quite sure what was supposed to entail here tonight, but he hoped that it would be more interesting than people chatting up other people and or hooking up of sorts and what other unimaginable social things people tended to do at shindigs such as this. Maybe he would see 'real' heroes in action should things go wrong. Of course he shouldn't hope for that, right? Not that he did....

He just wasn't quite sure of his decision at the moment. And so it would be better to stand to the side of things and watch for anything unusual. Observation was key at big balls like this, maybe he could learn something.

The Bislig family was one of the largest contributors in this charity event. They donate regularly to a lot of charity organizations all year round, that they don't take notice or remember their names. It was all arranged by their company secretarial staff. All the family has to do was attend the social gatherings, show their faces, especially the press. It was good for the company. But it wasn't good for their only child Milkha.

Her parents has to fly to different important parties, events and social gatherings particularly this holiday season, that they decided to attend them, separately. Mrs. Bislig has to attend a hotel grand opening, Mr. Bislig has to mingle with politicians and lastly being the daughter Milkha has to attend charity banquets. It was the third and last one this day. And it made Milkha exhausted. She had no other choice, she didn't want to go back to their empty mansion and bore herself to death. Because this was before her life changed, before her big kidnap, before Twiggy was even born. She's just a regular, rich, spoiled little brat.

"Why the sad face young miss." third time she was asked by her driver on the phone driving the limo and the third time she said in the receiver,

"Quit it Pierre, you know why." her hands resting and supporting her chin while she munched on grapes, seated at the passengers seat. "Every party I've been to this week was boring. This one, I'm pretty sure of it," she sighed,
"...it will be dreadfully the same." and rolled her eyes as their vehicle stopped at the entrance.

"Give it a chance little miss, give yourself a chance to have some fun." her driver, Pierre, perhaps her only friend said to her sincerely, then an attendant opened her limo's door, "Let's just get this over with Pierre, after an hour I'll call you, I'm tired anyway.", and she sulked as she went out and sighed.

~
Entering the halls, she saw the crowd, "What? And I thought I was fashionably late, no ones even dancing yet. Already bored." She went for a sparkling juice. "They didn't even announce my arrival, what kind of charity event this is, do they not know a Bislig is here?" she whined to herself, as she walked around with her glass in her hand.

"Ugh, this music is giving me a headache, why does it sound so sad..." she sighed, she was just not in the right mood. "Let's see..." she looked around finding some amusement, or someone to play with, and spotted a
nervous tall white haired boy, in a grey suit (Khoric) and went near him

"Yes, ominously boring that is," and smiled to him, "what a nerd, oh well, better to have someone to play with." she thought.

Daphne stood a little ways away from the balcony doors, observing the other guests as they milled about the room. The room held the best of the Megapolis’ elite; doctors, and lawyer, and professional descendants. It had taken a lot of string pulling in order to get herself an invite, but it would be worth it. With this many personalities in one room something newsworthy was bound to happen. If she was really lucky, there might even be a super villain attack. Although any damage to the lovely décor would be a shame, inside-the-action super villain attack stories always sold the best… and it had been a while since she had made any proper money, so she was rooting for someone interesting. Like Heart Breaker or Blue Rose.

There was a good representation of Megapolis in attendance. The fashions and styles were wildly varied, with examples in all of the four islands signature styles. People were wearing everything from bustles and high lace collars, to barely-there tube dresses. Daphne, for her part, had dressed for the occasion in a slinky, black, backless number, and pulled her blond hair into an intentionally-messy up-do. With only some silver jewellery to compliment it, it was a relatively plain ensemble by the standard, but she felt good. She always felt her best dressed in black and silver.

She swirled the sparkling sider (that she had though was champagne) in the slender glass before taking a sip. More and more people were filing in by the second. Certainly the festivities would begin soon. She downed the rest of her drink in one fluid motion and placed it on the tray of a passing waiter. Time to start working.

Isaac had changed up and looking quite sharp if he could say so himself. He knew he was being smug but it was a luxury he rarely allowed himself (maybe. Sort-of. Perhaps he was adjusting to the island by becoming a bit more... egocentric? He hoped not. He'd have to keep it down to a minimum and apologize if he'd stepped-- metaphorically-- on any toes after this.) He blushed faintly at the thought-- he was being terrible today in all kinds of ways. He was entirely too focused on the ball and he knew that, but it was something like home. Something like Mother.

He really missed home. He was probably just being moody because he missed home, right? Probably. He hoped.

Isaac did his best to wipe the thought from his mind and he entered the ballroom with as apt posture and poise as he could manage. He allowed himself to admire the music for a moment, stopping in his tracks just momentarily as he tilted his head towards the band.

Next came the decor, and finally the people; Mother had always said people were the best part of any party and he was inclined to agree with her because they added life. They talked and danced and ate, and just watching them move in their dresses and suits in styles he had never seen first hand was breathtaking.

He made a strange, pleased noise from deep in his throat and continued along, stopping only to adjust his pocket square and gloves. He had been to a few balls before, but nothing so big. Nothing that tore his breath away like this did. It was... amazing.

And Isaac could not have been more pleased about it. He settled near the bottom of the stairs and laced his fingers together. Isaac would have to do his best to appear like the fine young gentleman he was supposed to be. Or... an orphan, orphans weren't really educated on the finer points of formal parties, were they? Well... he could at least appear that way for a little while. Just a little while. Just until he could make a good impression? He really wanted to make a good impression.

Straffe had given up on getting his hair to obey the laws of his whim and instead settled for brushing it out over his shoulders. It was now a long purple wave almost to his hips, curling past his ears. His mother would have probably called him a hippy, but since she wasn't coming, that was fine. He adjusted his bow-tie self-consciously as he entered the dance-floor. His amulet was hidden under his shirt, a warm presence whispering against his skin. In one hand he held a small present, something that he had to take care of before he was thrust onto the dance-floor by the teachers. He didn't spoke the dour forms anywhere but surely they would come soon enough.

"Well now." He exhaled through his nose, watching the people in the room and giving off his best nervous smile.

After a moment he snagged a waiter with soft drinks floating past and sipped on the lemonade. There did appear to be alcohol, but he wasn't quite old enough to pass yet. Although, in the suit, maybe he could sneak the booze? Straffe shrugged and moved into the room finding a small table near the door where he could make contact with either the teachers or his partner. If only he had a microphone, then he could do the spy code like 'the cuckoo is in the nest' or something.

Luna Estella Stokes
The curious blunt Civilian Astronomer

luna after promptly getting dressed and forced to arrive at the event was very solemn as she stepped out of her families car. Her flowing red kimono inspired dress followed after her as she held tight to her little brothers hand. Her family was quite big as tons of them arrived from there home Tasea. She let her brothers hand go as she skipped off toward her cousins, while she just rested a hand on her hip and watched the people pass. She leaned against her car until the valet man had made a quick jerk with the car as a warning and she stumbled on to her feet. The click clack of her heels bothered her as she quietly greeted family with a bow and soft smile. Her mother leading her around introducing her " Now honey this is my boss Mr. Lee and his wife Bora and their son Thomas he is your age honey why don't you two have a chat" her mom said as she walked away. She wanted to protest but couldn't find away. " uh hello im Luna,..... so did we miss the fun" she jokingly said. The boy just stayed silent with a cold plain face with a quick nod for 'no'. Luna thought about how she could be doing better things like be at the observatory but no she was here.

She quickly waved good bye to him and continued through the room with long strides as her messy bun began to fall. she took a seat on a step braiding her mess of a hair. She took long glances at the rich chatting with one another and odd looking people though she probably should judge others but it was true. A waiter came up to her and offered a drink she gave a slight nod and smile and took small sips. She got up and slowly made her way to the door her long legs slipping through the slit seam of her dress. She leaned against the door spotting a boy (starffe) and quietly tapped him on the shoulder.
"mmm excuse me is this seat taken?" she asked with a sort of slow soft voice trying to sound sincere.

Theo hadn't wasted any time between changing into his formal wear, dropping off the boxes at his dorm room and making his way to the dance floor. He didn't like the idea of being late anymore, especially considering he was being depended upon. Granted, he didn't like the idea of being depended upon. Up until this point in his life, he was depended on by no one and depended on everyone else for everything. He depended on his mother for food and shelter. He depended on the Opera troupe to keep him safe from the bullies outside the Opera house. He depended on the neighborhood not to out him to the strangers who would be interested in his abilities. He depended on many, and didn't feel right being depended on.

Quietly he slunk his way into the dance hall and kept close to the walls, looking around in attempts to spot Avalbane, or even Ane, Clowrey, Basia or Straffe. He saw no one he knew so far, and was feeling apprehensive. He sighed and wrung his hans together and fidgeted with his clothes. He looked every bit the fool right now.

Turning, Theo leaned against the wall and watched towards the entrance to the dance hall. He wanted to amuse himself, but was reminded that they were to be incognito at the moment and didn't want to draw attention to himself with his powers, even if he was planning on just humming into his hand.

This is so damn boring, He thought, letting his eyes wander around. Mom would love this, though.

It had taken awhile to be fitted but the lovely red man with horns was able to get the little alien in a nice dress in less time than Violet thought possible. It was amusing to say the least, how fast he worked. After giving her thanks to Alex she inquired just what an orphan was hoping and relieved to get an answer that was well detailed enough to where she somewhat understood her own role better for the night. She was off and heading towards the dance floor. Hoping in the back of her mind that the watches projection would hold up and that her partner would be easy to find. Partner, suddenly the other wasn't the furthest thing from her mind..

Scary. This was a little ..scary. The girl's footsteps fell softly on the floor as she made her way to the entrance, almost seeming to fall in time with the music that rushed out to meet her. Said feet adorned with lovely heeled shoes much like her beloved Nova boots, heels she had a fascination with them..hopefully they wouldn't cause too much peril for her partner since she was use to walking in them, dancing..well that was a different story the dancing here wasn't the same as what the little alien girl knew as dancing.

Lazy brown orbs washed over the figures as the green haired girl appeared in the doorway, the train of her dress dragging slightly behind her though not by much. Swaying slightly with the music, Violet suddenly felt it as she watched all the humans, that yearning for new experiences like she had when stuck working for the government of her home world before joining Nova, of the people who were dancing her eyes lingered on them the longest. Curiosity over powered her other raising emotions and Violet started sliding back into her normal relaxed nature as a lovely smile begun to grace her glossed lips.

Pitter-pat. If the sound of heels clacking against the ground as the music died down for the next song didn't draw some attention, surely the lovely green haired girl in the short-sleeved though shawled, satin ivory and beige gown with pink floral patterns would herself as the poor thing seemed a little lost though eager. Violet managed to slowly slip into the background heading towards an empty table so that she may sit and look for Flo again. A peach hand moved out to pull a seat, sitting Violet swung her loose shawl string around her forearms to make sure it wouldn't slip. Brown orbs trailing over the crowd as she settled down in her seat looking for Flo. In the back of her mind she hoped Napoleon wouldn't be to upset with her for leaving him with Alex..

Zone settled with his dark hair down, his bangs covered half of his face. Just like a creeper who wants to avoid a conversation. "Good." he said while he got a glimpse of his reflection on a silver platter he held on his hand that he got from the buffet table. Someone could mistook him from being a waiter if he doesn't let it go though.

He inserted his finger in his collar and tugged it a bit,
"Ugh maybe a clip-on wasn't a good choice, it's choking me." his deranged thought, and checked the earpiece in his ear that he almost forgot in the control room. He caught a sight of Flo's reflection and immediately placed the platter down.

"At least my dance partner is her." he murmured and turned around towards the doctor who were busy checking the hidden cameras. "and not some...brat from the orphanage." he whispered, remembering their cover.

He snatched a tall glass from a waiter who passed in front of him. And immediately gulped the juice down. "Ugh, where's the alcohol when you needed one." and placed the empty glass on the buffet table.

"Let's get this dance gig settled, maybe we can work something out." he thought of excuses that will prevent him to dance as he walked briskly around the classy crowd doing there own businesses.

"Isn't that?" he thought he saw someone familiar, but his view was quickly blocked by the crowd milling about. "I hope it's not that nosy reporter from before." he was right though, it was indeed Daphne Ray, the one he encountered in a risky operation from before.

He then proceeded to Doctor Flo, "Hey miss, isn't there some way I could not be a part of this dancey part?" he said to her in a stern voice, and hoped it would work.

The music washed over him in a calming manner, the happy clamour of adults delivering their greetings to one another, the watchful eyes of the cameras overhead, it was all very ordered, all very light with the ease of trained movie stars or something. Straffe glanced over his shoulder as the pretty young woman Luna indicated the chair across from him. With a grin that had just a little too much dazzle in it, he rose and pulled the chair out, waving a hand to indicate she should take it. "Please."

He didn't recognize her, she was young, so perhaps.... was she one of the aliens...? Well it was possible. Most of them hadnt been dressed yet in the controlroom. Hm, perhaps they should have come up with code-names or... or something? How would he know who anyone was, outside of lycra and the school uniform. He dazzled her with another smile and gracefully grabbed another drink from a roving waiter. It was fruit-juice, like his, but then, at least it was in a nice glass. "It's a pleasure to meet you. Your dress is exquisite."

He knew how to talk to women- his father had explained, if you didn't know what to say, compliment them. The hair and clothing; this weakened their evil powers of death and caused them to melt like putty in his palm. It also made screaming women calm. Proven science. Not that this girl looked like she was about to maul a passerbyer, but girls never looked like they were going to maul you until your leg was missing.

He glanced around, spotting Theo talking to Dr Flo. Well, if anything went wrong, there was a doctor around. Right, but it wouldn't go wrong because... He was.... "Einreihard. Straffe Einreihard." He introduced himself. Agent double-oh-epic.

Maybe he could make a gun out of sunlight or something. All the ball was missing was a giant Russian. He sipped his drink, crossing his legs in a relaxed manner. "So, are you here with friends?"

Clowrey seemed all a-flutter as she strolled into the ballroom that evening.

Donned in her new chenogsam, she had also applied some light gloss to her lips and a soft ashy purple eye shadow...She didn't want to brag but, as she turned around in front of her dorm mirror, she had exclaimed:
    "Eeeeee! I look good!"
Even Corduroy had nodded in silent, and amused agreement. It wasn't often that Clowrey got dressed up like this and she admit she was somewhat ecstatic. "You look lovely," Corduroy commented, bemused as she was holding in her enthusiasm. "Your dad has good tastes. But that pin..."
Clowrey raised a hand, running a finger over teh swirly pin BB had given her, a while ago. It was tucked into her headband, like it was just a part of it; she couldn't keep her hair back with just a hairpin but:
"Well, it matches...And I haven't gotten a chance to wear it yet."

She spoke softly, as to make sure no one noticed her speaking to the invisible spirit.

Clowrey glanced around the room as she moved towards the wall, noting that her family had yet to arrive. In her disappointment, she didn't notice Theo and bumped into him. "Ah! I'm sorry!" she said quietly, turning to see who she had bumped into:
"...Theo?" She stared at his...outfit, blinking a few times as she was at a lost for words, and shockingly, expressions. She scratched her chin, and for once was trying to pick her words carefully. Maybe the surprise had given her time to actually think about what to say...
"Heh, you look like a prince," she said, remembering her talk with Isaac from earlier in the Control Room. "It looks good on 'ya--And hey, I think you actually outshine Juno. That's a pretty amazing feat to accomplish!"
