“Something I was wondering about! Why is her name Lady Vignette? is she going to make her drawings act out short stories eventually?”~kotaline

I got vignette from the word “sketch” in thesaurus lol XD,
and I remembered that word from my professor regarding book illustration, that it is those small drawings on book pages but not considered full illustration.
But a name or alias doesn't have to take its literal meaning. I like the sound and the look of how the letters were arranged. Especially that she came from a place with steam punk looks, and "lady" because she is called Lady Mikhail by others, she doesn't like it though.
I guess she named herself, in random too.




Powers/abilities:

xxxxxEverything she scribbled will come out to life. She can communicate with them through her mind or speech. She’s the only one who can hear them though. This doesn’t mean that when she writes a word or draws a rocket they will come out as the real thing, but rather they will hold the same visual form and size of the doodle and be an entirely different entity than what is supposed to be depicted.

xxxxxMaybe any liquid that could leave a stain or mark on any surface. So not particularly water, because when it evaporates it doesn't leave a mark, and is too runny. Also perhaps the scribbles can take the color of that liquid but have the element of the surface they were drawn on. So now she writes directly with her fingers.

xxxxxAs indicated in her powers/ability section, if she draws a rocket, it won't be what it is intended to be, but just rocket scribble that can move, even if she became a great artist in the future who can pull of realism. And also, they would only be 2d, but it will serve as a great illusion if she gets there.








Usability of her Live Scribbles
xxxxxNow if she draws a rope, you also have to consider the element of the material that has been drawn to. For example, she drew a long straight line on a ground made of cement. Milkha, being a person who really doesn't know how to draw, would only be making a really tall, straight scribble that if it tries to bend, it would instantly split in half and die. Now, if it was drawn on paper, it could be wavy, but can easily be torn, burnt or be vulnerable to water. Metal, it would look like a wire that bends by itself, not bend freely like a real rope, but in squared bending motion. Now if she draws a ladder (like how children draws it), it might be useful as leverage, taking note of its element too. It would be funny that the metal scribbled ladder would look hunted swaying side to side just to go forward (just think if you don't have any knees or joints on your legs, how would you move?), it would be a disturbingly clumsy and slow scribble.

xxxxxOthers can see them move or see them do the abominable things these critters do. But to hide, they can pretend to be a vandalism on any surface, or perhaps a badly drawn tattoo XD . They can create noises with other things but they cannot create them by themselves, as they don't really speak, except to Milkha telepathically. Which make her seem mad when seen talking by herself. (Scribble speeches won't be RPed though)

xxxxxThey do have consciousness, but they cannot feel, so they aren't physically hurt. Hmmm, If I delve even further I might create stories about them...but I'll concentrate on Milkha first.
Just think of it like an imaginary friend, only tangible and unlike The Foster's in CN, they really are a small part of her personality. They can think, but The only way that they could betray her is if she gone insane and started to hurt herself or developed split personalities that could escape her mind through scribble form (oooohhh, I like this idea), which might not happen anytime, while inside SA. Other scribbles by then are born just for their sole purpose and keeping it as their main motive. So they think and act according to their purpose, whether they became wise or morons, depends on Milkha's state physically and mentally.


Which area is the character based/from:

Upper Sewit

xxxxxHer family owns Bislig Corp., a large corporation that runs a mining business, gemcutting factories and jewelry stores. They are also the largest provider of raw precious stones for other companies and factories who makes laser eye disc readers, energy source for high tech vehicles in Sewit and other things.



Age upon entering academy: 14 years old. (rookie)


How did your character get their powers:

xxxxxMilkha was kidnapped at her 10th birthday. Her captors including her, stationed themselves in one of Bislig’s warehouses and threatened to blow up the place with Milkha inside if they don’t abide by the conditions they’ve given. Soon, an accident occurred. The warehouse exploded and all the kidnappers died. Miraculously, Milkha survived but badly injured. She got burned terribly especially her hands and spent two years going in and out of the hospital for operations, psychiatric and physical therapy. It was hard for her parents to see their energetic and bubbly daughter mum and unresponsive. She just starred away at nothing. Soon after, she saw a clip of Hack on TV and immediately recalled a vague memory. It was the last moment she remembers before she loses consciousness. She was so sure that it was Hack that saved her, the one that held her in his hands and said that it will be alright. After that her spirit gradually returned. She started to speak again, smile, laugh and be lively once again.
xxxxxAt the scene of the crime, they discovered remains of the unnamed stone currently undergoing research on Bislig Lab. Large amounts of it were stored in that warehouse. The stone was kept in secret because of its weird qualities. This particular stone is charged with large amounts of unlimited energy. One of the researchers even reported that it emit a life source. Like something was about to be born from it he said that the stone was alive. His report was revoked though, and his research ignored by his superiors. It was something that an ordinary person cannot believe. That researcher thought that it has something to do with the incident.
xxxxxMilkha improved quite well physically and mentally. Almost all her burns and scars were gone except for the ones on her hands and arms. The doctors were successful in restoring her damage nerves, joints and ligaments, but no matter how advance the technology in Sewit is, they cannot do anything to remove the badly damaged skin and bring back the sensation on her hands. She covered it with gloves from then on. Alone in her room, she tried to compose a letter to Hack even if she can’t control her hands and fingers like before. Tired and devastated, she removed her gloves then tried again with perseverance. Her first few scribbles didn’t resemble any number or letter. She kept trying and trying until she couldn’t move her fingers from exhaustion. The after a minute her scribbles began to rise, leaving the paper. They came to life before her, one by one.






Why enter academy:

xxxxxAfter recovery and her discovery, she pleaded her parents to let her study in SA. As expected they were strongly against it. After much debate and antics done they gave in but come to an agreement that she will have to be guarded twenty-four hours a day and won’t leave the academy grounds at all times. To be able to participate in missions, she fooled her guards with the help of her scribbles or played pranks at them that paved way for her escape. (also read the back story entry, for further info. and some at her personality entry.)



Strengths:

Scribble Scouts
xxxxxHer scribble entities, can spy for her, disguising as a vandal on a wall or any surface. Collect small things and go through the smallest spaces. They take the same element as the one they we’re drawn onto. They are also hard to notice, unless they call for attention themselves. She will be able to draw bigger scribbles and more sturdy ones as she grow stronger and more experience (and maybe when she grasps the concept of 3d in the she can apply it to her doodles).


Weaknesses:

xxxxxMilkha cannot fully control her fingers yet so her drawings are all scribbles. The most she can properly do are stick figures. She keeps a live one by her side, her secret companion named Twiggy, others kept for future use, either in a notebook or anything she can writes on. She is also sensitive about her hands. She has to remove her gloves to make live scribbles so she does it when nobody’s around. She also cannot look or be close to a fire, a trauma she conjured in the past incident. Her hands will start to hurt after drawing five of them (but sometimes she endures it). Physically weak and clumsy and if she is not in her best condition, her scribbles end up scatter brained and cannot follow her simplest instruction. Regarding her scribbles, they can be easily annihilated based from their given element, but their element cannot be easily distinguished.


Personality:

A Caring Manipulator
xxxxxMilkha has an easy-going nature, playful, loves to play games, always smiles and laughs. Spoiled by her parents and does everything she can to get what she wants. Instead of arguing or screaming the things she wanted like a brat, she prefers bargain or sometimes bribe, if that doesn’t work, she’ll play pranks on you until you give in.

Lives a High Life
xxxxxBecause of the trauma she had, her parents gave her everything even the things she really doesn't need or want. Especially the time she wasn't herself and not communicating with anyone. She doesn't have friends either, because she spent most of her life inside their manor, so when she was in the hospital only her parents and her parents friends/business partners visited her. She knew from that point on, that they are using her to get close to her parents. Empty, tired and afraid, also her whole body was in pain, she wanted to end it all, until she saw Hack in TV. Remembering, gave her hope to live again. She wanted to meet him and thank him personally. It became her goal in getting back into shape. But her feelings grew, it was the only real thing for her. From an admirer, she became a fan, then it became an obsession, essentially when she learned of her power she believed, she has to met him sooner, whatever happens.

Everything is a “Game”
xxxxxHating verbal arguments, she resorts to antics to get what she wants. Apparently, the sweet and cheery little child became a narcissistic manipulator who idolized a hero and sees him as her knight-in-shining-armor. Candy coated on the outside, but sour at it's core. She appears sweet to everyone, even to her guards, the only one she talks to about everything is Twiggy, her first scribble. One of her shenanigans to get her parents approval in enrolling into the academy was submitting an official letter to the majority of their factories that Bislig Corp is shutting them down effective immediately, leaving a lot of workers unemployed. Protesters marched into the main office, angry phone calls and production was stopped on that day. And in the midst of their headache, she announced to them that this wouldn't happen if they only let her go...with a smile of course. She couldn't done all of this without her scribbles and her family name.

Assertive and Optimistic
xxxxxMilkha doesn't dwell on mistakes, instead she makes plans and leave it to another day. If she didn't get what she wants, means that she lost a battle but her war never ends there. Might as well spend that time to play and have fun. Or chase after Hack.

Cares for the people that have some use to her (Just can’t admit in her heart that she also loves them dearly. Always finding reason to what she feels, except for her feelings with Hack, still questioning why though)

At first I was going to make her a person who doesn't really care about art at all or really suck at it for comic relief XD but I don't want to close doors. She can join classes, but might end up bored to sitting still for a long time. She might even invite Rainbow to ditch class and play somewhere else instead.

xxxxxHer parents know it's enough, or the company might suffer more if they punish her further (or other things besides the company), since she can already do this, they know she can be even more menacing, besides Milkha helped remedy the situation after. And they thought that if they give her what she wants, she'll be busy with something else and not them (those poor people around her). In relation to her punishment, she used to do pranks to her teacher to cancel their meeting even before she got kidnapped. Maybe that's also the reason why her captors got her, because she even breaks away from her bodyguards. She just haven't met her match yet (excluding the kidnappers), maybe in the academy perhaps.


There are parents like that in real life too, just giving their child what they want, thinking that this is love or just to make them shut up.

xxxxxNo she doesn't have ADHD or anything. Her shenanigan with the company is her biggest yet, with her scribbles their to assist her (yup, only her parents knew that). Twiggy is only there for emotional support, remember the time he was created? It was the moment of her breakdown, making a letter for Hack, so that scribble end up not that competitive per se. He's her moron.
xxxxxEven if her parents show enough love to her, they are often gone because of their business. She didn't have friends either. To get their attention, she does what she does best, being a problem to them...then be sweet to them after.

xxxxxNo just descriptions of what they are doing. Milkha might speak to them face-to-face, but will look like she's speaking to herself. She also hears them in her head, when communicating far from her. So why not just speak to them in her head from the start? It's more soothing for her in a way, having no one to talk to what's going on inside her head.


General backstory and motivation for becoming a ~*~Rookie~*~:

xxxxxAt first, she was fascinated with Hack, collected pictures, posters and videos of him. Even ordered specially-made plush toys of him. But soon she wanted to be praised and noticed by Hack that the only way she could think of is became a hero, like he is. So she blasted off to the academy, hoping that someday Hack will be able to appreciate her.

Actually, her getting away with all that makes some kinda twisted sense. There's plenty of parents that give into every whim of their child, not realizing they're hurting them far further than if they had just dealt a punishment. So I thumbs up this part.

I actually like her a lot and would love to RP with her. She and Zax might have to meet up.

Haha, yeah parents like that exists. Love doesn't always sums to goodness. And what can we do, they are busy folks that when they'll meet their daughter, they would bond with her than argue. They don't want their only daughter hate them.

Except for friends or peer pressure, parents have a large amount on molding their kids. And also some parents see their kids as adorable little angels no matter what they do, (until they reached puberty...or went into high school or boarding school). I have an aunt and uncle like that, and I really hate the little bugger.
