No, in case you're wondering, it's not a modern track.
The song is none other than Beethoven's Symphony 9.

That's all that needs to be said. It's Beethoven for God's sake.

I would have to agree that Beethoven is by far one of the greatest composers of... ... ... ... ...ever

Just because nobody come into the thread doesn't mean they don't agree with the statement.

wasnt trying to be rude, just stating what the evidence seems to say pretty clearly, that not many people here seem to think that is "arguably the best song ever" im not saying that barret jagger isnt entitled to his opinion or that just because there are few people who agree with it his opinion is wrong, just that there arent many people that agree with it and counting myself as one of them. But please, if you disagree with me and think that beathovens 9th may well be the best song in the world then go ahead and proove me wrong, and let mister jagger know that you agree with him?

Technically, he did say arguably, so you could argue whether or not Symphony no. 9 is the best or not.

A lot of music is lessened by the fact that they have words in them. Regardless of this, I still appreciate good music.

personally i think that words can make a song :
joan osborne - one of us
john lennon - imagine
scorpions - winds of change
mike and the mechanics - the living years

all beautifull songs both musically and lyrically and none of them would exist if it wasnt for the adition of words to music and ok so some of it can be verry bad (i refer you to justin bieber) at the same time there is also a lot of instramental music out there that is equally bad
but good music is good music, lyrics or no

You're not giving many options.
I've always been more of a Chopin fan.

I think you're missing the point. I'm saying that Beethoven is probably better than all of today's artists combined. Even my favorite artists from today don't compare.

there are some songs that Are perfect without any lyrics, such as Symphony No. 9, then again, there are some songs that wouldn't even be able to pass as a song without the lyrics, such as The Rime of the Ancient Mariner (this song needs lyrics because Iron Maiden based it on Samuel Taylor Coleridge's poem)
