Welcome to our first Role Play Contest/Game! Grand Prize is November 2007 Thank You Letter containing Wild Things or Autumn Glory!
Since our theme for THE Charity Christmas Jubilee is Games, our role play will be Chess-themed. However, there is no formal board or movement rules. This is role-playing. After you pick your character/piece (first come, first served), you'll be sent a PM with your secret goal. Please read this first post carefully before beginning.
Please ONLY POST IN THIS THREAD IF YOU ARE PARTICIPATING IN THE ROLE PLAY. Thank you.
You must have a valid ticket to THE Charity Christmas Jubilee event and be listed in "THE Ticket Holders and Donators are Loved!" thread to be eligible to win.
For Christmas and Santa's favorite colors, the colors are Red and Green rather than boring black and white. While this is a relaxed role-play, please avoid difficult-to-understand posts (avoid l33t-speak, cussing, fonts smaller than 10, very pale font colors, and excessively cluttered post styles).
To participate, please post in this thread the following:
[color=fill this in with RED or GREEN]I would like to join THE Chess Role Play! Username: Chess Piece (not Pawn): Color (should match your color above): Picture (optional, tektek is fine):
No costuming is required, though if you would like to tektek your character/piece, I'll include it in the next post with the player-character listings. Any picture you choose to illustrate your character/piece must not be bigger than 120px x 150px.
Scoring:
1 point for every day you post in the thread between December 16th and December 26th. You can start posting/playing earlier, but you won't get posting points until the event actually begins.
Up to 10 points for completing your secret goal (I'll PM it to you when I add you to the list in the next post of players-characters). You can get partial credit for partially completing your goal.
Up to 6 points for excellent role-playing. On December 26th all players need to PM me their top three choices for excellent role-players: those who posted a lot or were fun to interact with or just fun to watch play. You may not nominate yourself.
All players will get a small prize. The person with the highest final score will win the Grand Prize of a November 2007 Thank You Letter!
Please post all actions and public conversations (those that can be overheard, even if just by servants) in this thread. Naturally clandestine meetings via PMs are allowed, but you won't impress anyone with your role-playing that way other than the one person you PM'd.
Grand Prize Winner is oneia! Other players will get a small prize. Thanks for playing! I hope you had fun!

Arashi opened the heavy, wooden door the was before her. She made her way into the stable, to her horse. She didn't even realize she was holding her breath. The poor horse hasn't been doing well lately. Arashi knew it. The other soldiers and warriors knew it. The only question was, how long would she last? Would she preform well in the next battle? Only good enough? Or would she be the death of herself? Of Arashi? Of their King and Queen?
Arashi slowly let out the breath she was holding in. Her horse, Shadow, was still standing...for now. She took a brush from the hook on the wall and slowly started running it through the jet black horse's mane.

Oneia, Green Bishop Smiling serenely, the green-robed woman walked along the dirt trail. The majority of the year, her sermons would be lucky to reach the ears of half the kingdom... and the hearts of even half of those. This time of the year, though, always brought more people to her chapel, and they always seemed moved and encouraged by the words she spoke.
A chittering noise caught her attention, and Oneia stopped to look above- seeing two turtle-doves flying together into the forest. A thoughtful look crossed her face, and she veered off the dirt trail, moving toward the forest.
Ideas for her next sermon were swimming in her mind.

Green King
The king donned his plainest woolen cloak and stepped outside in the evening dusk. He knew he was safe inside his castle walls and the brisk air was invigorating. As he walked across the garden, he glanced around and noticed a young knight in the stable, gentling a horse that did not look well. He wandered in the general direction, a vague feeling of restlessness turning his footsteps away from the quiet comforts of the garden itself.
"What ho, knight? How fares that horse?" he asked in companionable fashion as he approached the door to the stable. "Oh dear," his breath caught in his throat as he noticed the true level of ill-health the poor beast suffered.

Arashi gave a little start when she heard a voice from behind. She recognized it instantly, turned, and bowed.
"Greetings, King," she said. Then she straightened up and looked at the horse, concerned. "I fear she will not be in shape for the next battle. And since we are short on horses, I will have to go in on foot.....not that that's any trouble!" Arashi added, as color rose to her cheeks. She sounded like a whining child in her ears. She shot the King a smile.

Oneia, Green Bishop Several hours later, Oneia made her way, almost traipsing, out of the forest, her eyes sparkling. "I've found it," she whispered to herself. Now, more than ever, her mind was racing for the next sermon.
Although this time of year certainly provided ample material for her sermons, there was certainly more going on in the world. Rumors of villages being attacked had caught her ear in recent weeks, and she was sure that some of her sermons were filled with people looking more for comfort than for holiday spirit.
Dodging a pear tree, she emerged from the wood, set her sights on the castle, and began making her way.
She should be going home to rest now. She should be enjoying a nice warm supper.
Instead, she will plan tonight. Prepare for the rest of the week. Then, further in, she will invigorate the population!
