xoxo❥ Children; is it any surprise I work with them?
xoxo❥ Extreme Sports; although now I just prefer watching extraordinary feats on TV.
xoxo❥ Singing; although only in the shower. I'm not the best out there, trust me.
xoxo❥ Apples; an apple a day keeps the doctor away, especially if that doctor is a Judith psycho fanatic.
xoxo❥ Pets; dogs especially, they're just so loyal and sweet!
xoxo❥ Lists; especially if they're done in an orderly, neat fashion.

xoxo☠ My height; I know I'm small, okay!?
xoxo☠ Myths; at least when people really believe in them with no proof. Superstitious lot.

нısτσяყ →xoxoGemma was born the only child to the otherwise normal, plain Rhodes family. A kind, if stern, father and a loving mother, all very mundane. Gemma, on the other hand, had always been a rather special child. Gemma was certainly smart, but she generally didn't know how to handle herself in social instances, having spent most of her life with the same people all the time; i.e. her parents. People who had come to understand this part of her personality in which she, for some reason, saw no reason whatsoever as to why she should hold her tongue long enough to simply think about what came out of her mouth before it actually did. This certainly got in her some trouble as she was growing up, as she was always blurting out the truth or whatever trivial thing that seemed to come to her mind at that point. Most everyone she knew simply took it when she was a child, thinking it was cute and/or endearing, but then simply grew tired of it as she grew up.
xoxoHonest and oblivious, for the most part, she never really saw what was wrong, so she never changed. It's all rather homorous to her in hindsight, in fact. But as odd as that might seem, she actually excelled in her academics, even with her general flightyness. She did so well, in fact, that she was able to study abroad in some program she signed up for. During this time, however, she fell off the grid and generally didn't keep up with people that weren't outside of immediate family.
xoxoIt's been heavily implied that some time into her studies she actually substituted for a teacher at some point, and that she loved the experience so much that she decided to study into education. And afterwards, once as a 'full-time' substitute managed to give a class for a whole year, that she counted as actually being THE teacher of the class and not a sub. It's also been implied that it was some school that was rather highly regarded wherever it was and that she also disliked her boss and some of the snootier parents. She seems to enjoy the innocence that comes with the honesty of children, and it's one of the driving forces of why she chose her 'calling'.
xoxoAs to how she came to the island of Nirvani, however, is almost a rather embarassing story. You see, she had a cousin, Matthew, who lived on the island, with whom she was close to in her family, who had had a rather nasty breakup that had happened recently and she, feeling guilty about her long absence, came to swoop down and pluck him out of his gloom. She didn't mean to stay long, and was usually dragging her cousin along to events and the like, attempts to get him out of the house. And, oddly, she actually came to like the place. She made some real, adult friends, and even settled down for a job as a schoolteacher. In fact, Matthew has long since left the island, but Gemma still remains. Whether this is because of some sense of duty to her students, her general like of the island and its inhabitants, or her rather strong hatred for her current boss is unknown. She still does go back home, on occasion, but she generally prefers to stay on the island. It has it's oddball charm all it's own, and perhaps that is why she has rooted herself there.
