Personality:
Arrogant. Haughty. Very proud of himself and any of his creations. The very image of death, relying on the suffering of others... But with an undying urge to create, albeit usually twisted nightmarish things. He is the only mortal man to have ever successfully created new life. He's also an intellectual genius, with a slight superiority complex and a lot of power to back it up.
Bio:
As a man, Gerald Tarrant was the Neocount of Merentha; a genius, a visionary, he began a church that aimed to create its own version of God through latent magical energies that reacted with the human psyche. He discovered his own natural talents, and was banned from his own church for it- he then sacrificed his family in the pursuit of more power. And he got it. So much power, he was vilified even further and he retreated into the depths of the woods to the north. For the next 900 years he turned that area into The Forest, an impenetrable biological fortress and marvel.
He left his fortress to aid a priest-warrior on several adventures, during which he began redeeming himself for his wicked life of kidnapping and torturing villagers for sustanence. Of course, he still required the suffering of others to live. But suffering was in wide abundance on these adventures. He saved the priest's lover's memories from a witch who meant to consume them and further her power; he killed a man who could transfer his soul into another body, journeying through the Hell his Church had inadvertently created to do so; and finally he defeated a demon-god-projection of the human race's accumulated sadism created by the natural magical energy. He did it by sacrificing everything he had- 900 years of terror, a legacy and legend- and in doing so changed the global flow of energy. It now went around all human establishment, making them believe it was now gone... And eventually, that belief would make it so. He moved even further north, into the volcanic fields where the magical energy was strongest. He began experimenting, planning to continue growing more and more powerful until he accidentally killed himslef by going too far. Instead, he grew so powerful he was able to tear asunder the very fabric of reality, and accidentally got himself thrown into this realm.
