-Baleno's Past-
Baleno to this day doesn't know his parents. He was living in an orphanage for the longest time before him and a few others kids decided to make their own 'gang' and run away from 'home'. They could do it! All by themselves they didn't need any grown-ups to look after them. After all, no one wanted to look after them anyways. The gang moved from Saffron city, leaving there troubles in the past, and left for Vermillion city, hoping to sneak on a ship and leave for... Well, who knows where?
When they reached Vermillion city, Baleno and the gang took a day to go site seeing, along with trying to steal some food. So, the young boy at around the age of 11 went to look for some food... But instead happened to find the local gym. And it just so happened that a gym battle was taking place. So why not watch?
It was glorious! The battle was pretty one sided, but still amazing! This gym just so happened to be Electric gym, and the gym leaders Raichu just stole the show! It was quite amazing, of course the trainer battling was pretty stupid in his choices of pokemon.... He even sent out a poor little low-leveled Pikachu out against this miraculous Gym Leader! Of course the trainer lost.
After that, the show was over, and he left after the Trainer did. He met up with his gang, shared a few laughs, then they searched together to find a place to sleep for the night. But as they walked along the streets, he couldn't help but notice something yellow from the corner of his eye coming from a darker alley way. As he went to discover just what is was, he realized that is was that same Pikachu he had seen earlier battling! Still quite injured from earlier battle, and unable to even move! It was actually in worse shape that he had seen it earlier. Where was it's trainer?... It only took a few seconds to realize that the trainer had abandoned it for being too 'weak'.
The other gang members just stood there wondering what they were even looking at, but he acted immediately, taking the Pikachu and running off without so much as to word of where he was going. Surely, the Pikachu was in critical condition, but the boy didn't realize just how long the electric mouse had been left there... He spent all night in the pokecenter, with the gang finally finding him and keeping him company throughout the night. He found out in the morning, that the Pikachu just wasn't make it. The pokemon had given up hope after its trainer abandoned it, and just didn't seem to be gaining that hope back.
Baleno went to visit the Pikchu, trying to give it hope, trying to make it see that it can get a new and better trainer, but the pokemon was unresponsive. Eventually, Pikachu didn't awake for his visits, it was gone. The gang had their own ceremony for the pokemon, and the police looked for the man that Baleno had described as Pikachu's abusive trainer, but the trainer was no where to be found. While the police were searching at local gym, the gym leader was informed of what had happened, and left to meet the group of children who took care of the Pikachu. He spent some time with Baleno and the others, knowing they would need some help through the grieving, and apologized for not being there sooner.
In time everyone had to continue on with their lives, Baleno moved on with his gang, and eventually, he left them for his own ambitions.
Those moments with the Gym leader, with such a kind and strong trainer that took care of their pokemon. That was what shaped him into the person he is now. One that is as kind and loyal as his pokemon, one that trains to make himself a stronger person, and one that dreams to someday be the next electric Gym Leader.
